CO2 supplementation while venting 24/7.

Well guys , I thought ya`ll had this figured out.......If you have any questions my old ass can help with just holler....

Not around much and don`t post regular but I`m around.....PM`s are always open since that`s pretty much the reason I`ve stayed here to stay in touch with old friends after deleting my account here more times than I can remember from getting sick of know-it-all kids with a few crops under their belt and their so-called wisdom of Job....anyways...

Ceosam.....Your diagram about pushing air to prevent smell leaks is only viable cuz you`re "pullin " scrubbed air into the light vent ducting , but if said fan pulls too hard to compensate keeping the reflectors cooled , and or if said scrubbers not appropriate for the CFM`s , then smell goes RIGHT thru the scrubber , lights , and out the room to only God knows where to be smelled....and that`s a big no-no...now....

The other statement made about not being able to exhaust out into 20 degree weather makes no sense to me since it`s "exhaust" ?....from a sealed room right ?...and also...

As Shmavis stated earlier . ya`ll check out Ichabod Crane`s setup since he lives as far north as most here in the states , and he`s a full fledged PHD with my air exchange twice per minute school , although he does have issues with the incoming cold air and condensation with active intakes , but he`s always willing to help....aight....nuff outta me this day....it`s Friday....

And Friday`s my fish day so it`s off to give the dawg a boatride and sling the cast net for bait....oh shit....almost forgot I gotta thaw out some pigs feet for crabtrap bait....ya`ll be chilly and ...

Peace....DHF....:ying:.....

Hey DHF!

Thanks for returning. Truly appreciate the offer to help!

I had already scratched the idea of exhausting 24/7 through a hood for the reasons you’ve mentioned. I simply don’t see how the physics work out in that scenario. So I’m not even going to try that route.

Here’s what I’m going to do: remove the test tent and run in the whole room as I’ve done in the past. I’ll leave the room as is (no insulation, no new drywall, etc.). My room is like ceosam’s insofar that it is basically airtight but does allow for airflow under and (maybe) a bit from around the door. I’ll exhaust 24/7 through the scrubber at a “trickle” strong enough to create negative pressure. I’m going to run an adjust-a-wing reflector and have a 4” inline set up on a speed controller to be dialed down and this will then be plugged into a humidistat to pull in fresh, dry, clean (will run through a filter) air from the basement during lights-out. I don’t think humidity will rise enough during lights-on for the intake to engage, but it will be there if needed. I’m going to start with only 600w to see how this setup handles the heat. Ideally I’ll end up running 1600w. Two 600w and one 400w (MH) between the two HPSs. But that probably won’t be realistic (without independent air-cooled hoods), so at the least I want to end up at 1200w.

This will basically be another test, but just in the room instead of a tent inside the room. I think I will be able to achieve my ultimate goal of being nearly silent by going this route. However, at the same time, if something seems amiss about this method (such as Mikell’s point about incomplete combustion) or I’m unable to control heat between the generator and 600w, then I’ll be able to easily cut out the CO2 and employ your method. It would be less than ideal since I’d just be recycling the air in the basement but at least I’ll be able to finish out the grow and then later setup so that I can source air from outside.

Does this seem doable to you?

I’m actually supposed to receive the adjust-a-wing today and some other stuff to get this under way. I want to get it setup and do some dry runs of the room before adding any plants so I get a better idea if I’m way off base or not.

Chances are pretty high that I’ll need some help if I end up sourcing air from outside... so there may be some PMs in the future... and I greatly appreciate the offer for help in that way:tiphat:

Hope they're bitin' for you today!

I wondered about this as well. I think the concern is the suspicion that might arise from seeing hot exhausted air coming out of a house and hitting 20 degree outside air... nonstop 24/7... that's what I reckon at least.

Yeah bro....Doable and that`s the ONLY way ta find out what`s best for the setup....may take several rounds of tweakin , but once dialed it`s set it and forget it....always remember....

Proper watts per sq ft AFTER perfect environment , lights on as well as most importantly lights off during mid-late bloomage....

The basement will give yas more fresh air than you think due to the volume of the basement out and away from the grow area , but fresh air intake is necessary at some point to prevent recycling stale used air.....anyways....

Gotta answer couple pm`s and crank up the grill , fish and shrimp cleaned on ice and ready.....ya`ll come....

Please don’t let “know-it-all kids” discourage your contributions. Since we all have different circumstances regarding our setups, it’s great to have the shared experience of others laid out so that we can all make the best informed decision relative to our individual circumstances. Had you not contributed to these forums, twice-per-minute air exchange isn’t something I would’ve ever considered.

We all benefit from the shared experience of others, imvho; even when their experience may not be the best method for our particular setup. But options are nice. It’s just too bad that not everyone takes the following approach to their contributions: “Please remain constructive, helpful and empty of an ego when trying to help the community.” — Thcvhunter

Great weekend to all!

Alright alright... I been MIA for weeks now. Had to nip and tuck alot of things before I dive into this project head on. I was about to start a thread but wanted to check on old friends before doing so and I read the last couple of posts here.

DHF... you Da Man! So helpful and willing to offer sage advice. Remember that "you're too old of a cat to get f'd by a kitten". My mom always told me to "ignore ignorance"! It works when applied. Keep droppin in DHF. I've liked your posts since the first one I read, so....

I'm catching up on what's been happening. I'll start a thread later today that explains where I'm at now. Let's just say... It's on now!

Schmavis... we'll catch up in a couple of days. My room is getting wired tomorrow, so I'll finally be making moves. I'm no showoff, but it's gonna be nice. Everything is here except one fan/filter... I think.

Catch y'all later!

LH, I wondered where you’d made off to...

Glad to hear you’re making progress, really looking forward to seeing it!

‘Bout to go MIA myself. Spring has sprung. Lots to do. (In addition to the room).

Best of luck as you move forward. Impress us, brother!

(Got a feeling you’re gonna — great vibes!)

Shmavis... I really thought I'd like adjust-a-wings but they are terrible IMO --- hotspots like crazy, really uneven light pattern. I've tried everything, including the heat spreader they sell additional

I only grabbed one to get started. I’ve got other (older) air-cooled hoods should I find the same problems you’re reporting, so I could resort to them. I grabbed a Super Spreader for it as well. Read differing opinions, but figured I could test for myself whether it helps or not.

I’ve been running it without the Super Spreader to see what kind of temp increases I get. Without measuring with any meters (other than the room's thermometer), it seems to be doing fine. Did you try the Avenger model?

So if adjust-a-wings aren’t the way to go, what is? Care to share (please) what you’re using?

Thanks ceosam!

I'd like to know also (hey Shmavis!!! Sorry I ain't been on lately man. Was hella discouraged due to my [now fixed... check it out] room issues) because I have a spanking new in the box A-A-W medium with Super Spreader that I was planning to veg with (using either a 250w MH or 430w Horti... have both).

Anyways... good to finally be back online and on track. I'm still tagged bro. How things going?
