Gr8 thread JJScorpio. i have been pondering the idea of taking clones for awhile and this thread will give me the confidence to go ahead and start cloning, many thx

yeah, they are growing small lateral shoots from the main branch, but they grow sooooo slow. I topped one of em, and the small shoots started to grow like crazy, lol. I will use one of those i guess.

thanks a bunch!

Great thread on cloning JJScorpio.

I use a propagation bubbler for cloning, which gives me great results. I tried all the other methods and finally came up with the miniature hydro setup. Most clones root within a week, or two at the most, due to the constant supply of oxygen to the rooting stems. I get a roughly 90% survival rate this way.

woohoo, i chopped the top of my plant today :D
It now looks extremly weird, but i put it in a peat puck at what i consider to be "not too dry and not to wet", sprayed the dome and stuck them under some CFL's. I really hope they show some roots.

Anyway, the mother plants are elongating their lateral shoots now, and the fan leaves below the cut are perking up hardcore again. overall, looking good. I think i can take some more clones later on. What is your opinion on keeping different batches of clones inside the same humidity dome?

Hey JJ,

So here's what I'm working with... I have a square bottom try(with water in the bottom but not enough for the peat pellets to suck it up), with a 32 cell tray sitting in it. All my water is distilled before using it and I am using peat pellets as the medium(I'm just sitting the pellets in the little plant cells without soil. nothing is disturbed) and I have made a made a home made dome using wood and clear vapor barrier plastic. all of this is at the back of my veg room off the ground with a heat mat under it on low which keeps the temp inside the dome at around 67-68... which means the roots are probably around 70-75.I keep the thermometer in there at all times and check it every time I check on them. I have misted them twice a day... I mist the dome... I take the dome off for air. They have plenty of light.. the temperatures are correct... I cut the clones on a 45 degree angle from the lower branches of a healthy female, I trimmed them down, I put shultz's TakeRoot rooting hormone on the bottoms, I sterilized my razor with rubbing alcohol and then rinsed it many times after before using it and yet almost half of them are wilting already and I took these cuttings on Tuesday and now its Friday! is Pot of Gold from flying dutch harder to root then other strains? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Everything sounds good.

Try misting the clones themselves and see if the wilt goes away.

Did you give them a good feeding and watering before you cut the clones?

I have been misting the clones directly when I mist the dome as well... I'm thinking the dome I made might be too big and not holding enough moisture because there is no moisture left on the inside of the dome when I go to spray in the evening after spraying in the morning.... or I might be spraying too much... I'm also questioning Shultz's TakeRoot cloning hormone... I know it doesn't have any fungicide. SHPLAH

Stop spraying the clones and see what happens. They may be getting to wet and starting to rot....

Yeah it was too much water in the peat pellets that was killing them... one clone with what I would have thought to be too little water in the peat pellet remained standing strong and healthy so I over watered them big time in many ways... LoL eaaaaaaaaaaaaaasy killer.

has anybody tried the bubble tubs for clones im thinking its a farely new method as there isnt much info or grow guides on it.
i have had 100% success in this method and found it less dawnting than clonex and getting air bubbles etc.the biggest plus i found is that once you put them in you dont have to do another thing,no spraying or humidity contol.just water temp:smoweed:

Take them off the lower section of the plant. It may take them a while longer to root though....

Bubble Cloners are the SHIT! Just set it and forget it man.. And whenever you do remember it just top it up with a little distilled water. Oooo man its soooo easy. and I got 11 out of 11 clones rooted in under 14 days. Bubble Cloner + rooting gel = easy street.

Clones 'r us

Clones 'r us

Following JJ's lessons with some additional tips from my buddy Kodiak, I cloned my only 4 plants today. They're labeled and have been put in my new cabinet in one of those little electric thermostatically-controlled greenhouses you can find around. Keeps the plants at around 75F (24C). Because this cabinet is in my unheated cellar, I'll keep an eye on the temp, and if I need a little heater for this space, by golly, I'll get one. The greenhouse is not plugged into my timer. The lights are, and come on at 5 a.m., go off at 11 p.m. The lights are brand new, cool white, T12's, 2 double 4' fixtures for 160W of clone power. Yep, clones 'r us...

With this done, my new grow closet gets turned to 12/12 this afternoon. On from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. That will allow me to drool over them before and after work most days. Of course, once we pitch whatever is male, then it's eagle eye time for hermies. Let's see what happens.

Thanks to all the good folks at ICMag for these forums, and for all the great guys and gals here willing to give of there time to help an old man grow some weed. Heck, I'm looking forward to smoking some of this stuff.

Hope y'all have a great weekend!

JQ

So they will take longer than a normal clone to root but should eventually root? .............. they are in a bubble cloner and have been for four days the small ones look shriveled up a little and the big ones look healthy......... no sign of roots

first time ever cloning done in Jiffy7 pucks..cheap powder hormone..plastic cup and a ziplock bag..

ROOTED IN 8 DAYS :moon:

DIDNT CUT ON ANGLE,DIDNT CUT UP THE MIDDLE OR SCRAPE THE STEM OR MAKE A CUT UNDER WATER WITH A RAZOR.. HACKED STRAIGHT ACROSS DIPPED IN HORMONE AND STUCK IN JIFFY. DONE DEAL:wallbash:

Can you take clones from plants that have been flowering for 35 days?

I have a buddy that does it that way all the time but it takes forever to root. He noticed the plants grow a lot more branches and yield more taking clones when the plant is in flower so he has stuck to this method.
