Cinderella 99 The Come Back

My recollection is LostTribe, who did grows of the original turn of the century Bros. Grimm C99, was, like a lot of us here, searching for a C99 that was as close as possible to our memories of the grows of the original F1 seeds and clones of them that were common-place in the early 2000s. But, by 2010 or so it had become difficult to find C99 seeds that grew like the original and none of us had access to more original F1 seeds or clones of the F1 seed plants. So, LostTribe tried every C99 seed known to man to find what he thought most approximated the original - up to and including the disappointing Bros. Grimm comeback seeds that inspired this thread. The C99 F6 is the result of the best that he found out of the C99 seeds Peak Seeds was selling - he did a lot of breeding work to get to it and then generously shared the seeds to a lot of folks around here.

Is that the broad strokes of it, LT?
Thanks bro! Now i feel old as dirt.
Get off my lawn, hippy! :angrymod:

Then Lost Tribe shared his seeds freely. I grew some, hit some with OHaze pollen, and sent out some seeds and grew the fast Cindy Haze myself. They make a good combo as the fruit smell transferred and the grow time reduced.

Good work LT, and thanks again!
And I thank you for the seeds and apologize for taking this long to germinate them. The time is now, a Winter project I am extremely excited about.

Also have a pack of Kwik C99 germinating. We shall see. The flowers my friends grew were excellent so I am surprised to hear the reviews. Hoping for better results.

I most certainly will. I was told Hazemans was not Cindy as well but I proved to myself otherwise.

I'm giving the seed cracker another try on Original C99 x Sensi Skunk seed I made.

FYI: Whatever old seed sprouting method you can think of or has been written about. I've already tried.

Hopefully that will save someone from replying with suggestions on how to germinate old poorly stored seeds.

Have you tried germinating in straight worm castings?

Anyone run the Kwik Honeydew? I have some of both the Qwik C99 and Honeydew because I’d read lots of unflattering things about BG C99. I also saw JAH seeds has a worked line from original BC Peak Cindy. I messaged JAH seeds and someone replied they do ship to the US. I’m just curious as my focus is chasing the old SoCal Thai from 1977. I first heard of C99 as a great wake and bake flower which I’d run for friends and family mostly.

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

I’ve gotten great recommendations here by lurking, reading, making notes. Blackbird Preservations NHz21xMM and Tropical Seeds THH for example are just a couple I’m grateful to have.

👍

Have you tried in the freezer and germinating in light under plastic? It sounds stupid I know ,but there are many plant species that like to germinate in light. I know poppies ,lettuce and celery do. and I have had seeds sprout in the pod on plants before while they were flowering.

You are welcome Mr Beans. I think winter time is easier to grow in a tent because the humidity is easier to add than remove. Good luck with the grow, whatcha gonna do if one sprouts ballz?

I have some Haze beans gifted from Johnny Chicago that I should pass on to you guys. I like to get stoned, not high, so Haze is not my thing. Someone who can run some before they go bad, hit me with a PM.

I also have a ton of those SKOHLP seeds. Goodherb ran them free range in the wild and had what he said were good results. Lol, I was hoping his island would get covered with the stuff.

I'm confused: I see posts about F6 C99 and wonder if those were open pollinations or were they 'selected'? 'Older versions' from 2015? That 15 years after the Bros were selling beans.
Apparently, I've been under a rock and missed all this stuff.

I grew out most of the Grimm stuff and even some Sly 1-offs, where he was 'back-breeding' with WW, but all of the Grimm stuff, 'looked' done early and if ya pulled then, it was very sativa like. Give it an extra week or 2 and it's a different buzz...allegedly...1 of sly's was a IPx .50WW and it was AMAZING. The other was cafe girl x .88WW, 9 weeks and put on weight until the end.

If you are getting purple from a C99, it's either cold as fuck or those genes are coming from something crossed into it.
The f6 was a selection I made with two particular females on Fruit Punch tasting leaner satvia and a fatter metal hazish tasting mom. They were both 1:5 mating. I used multiple males to give greatest chance to carry the mothers' characteristics. They are popping 1 in 10 with a small sample so hard to say if it reinforced the sweet punch or not. I wasnt taking chances on loosing it.

I’ve got some Cindy Haze seeds.
I don't remember remind me how long those are taking to bloom? I just wanted to get an idea for comparison. That Haze that @flower~power put you on via @JohnnyChicago sure seemed like a long skinny lady akin to the long Toms. I have to look through the rest of mine in the near future and want to get another pure Tom like I had. Still have half a jar of the Tom's saving it for special occassions.

The Cindy shortened the flower time a lot. It also helped with the haze stretch, making the plant more manageable. You never asked for CH beans, want some? You sure deserve them. I have some After Midnight (OHz x C99) too if you want.

Embryo rescue?

Its called Embryogenesis and all discussion of starting old seeds is very welcome here. @Travis Kelcee

This is Bill's seed kit.

It bases most of the SOP on sterilization and incorporates sterilized media and cleaning process. I believe the emergency part may include PGR media this could be a new version of the original kit. His TC media packets are decent and he has some things I incorporate like soaking then mwaving my rooters for sterilization before placing fresh dunked (bleach 10%) and 3x rinsed with water (sterilized) and rooted in individual freezer baggies on a mat in a clear tub with top on. Also use a heat mat at 80F.
