So, I know Christian values are not always aligned with modern cannabis use, but have any other fellow believers looked into the codex sinaiticus? It seems pretty similar to modern new testaments with a few changes here and there, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

4 The Lord created medicines out of the earth,
and the sensible will not despise them.
5 Was not water made sweet with a tree
in order that its power might be known?
6 And he gave skill to human beings
that he might be glorified in his marvellous works.
7 By them the physician heals and takes away pain;
8 the pharmacist makes a mixture from them.
God’s works will never be finished;
and from him health spreads over all the earth.

Ecclesiasticus, 38

Don't know much but the archealogical finds of seremonial jewish temple incense burners with canabis residue still on it and above mentioned quotes + sweet smoke offerings quotes make me think that God surely meant Canabis to be for the healing of the nations and a pleasant burnt offering he favors over burnt animal flesh smell..

But hey, what do I know?

Book of Eccleciastics , chapter 1, old Germanic manuscript 1654

Interesting topic and thanks for reminding me to get my hands on them Sinai landrace seeds, supposedly smelling like roses..! :groupwave:

The syrians are insane (My friend bred with them quite a bit, and I think they're pretty close to Sinai). I don't know about the Sinai tho. I think cannabis has been used to make anointing oils in the church as well as an incense! I'm forgetting the verse, but there is a recipe that is debated that cannabis was a part of "anointing oil" that also contained frankincense myrrh cinnamon and a plant called "fragrant cinnamon".

What about the codex, what is the question? If there are similarities to the "modern version"? I'm not following your question.

I glossed over it... What about it has you curious? The accuracy? That I couldn't comment on, as I'm no scholar.

What I can say is that it's good you're seeking Truth for yourself and not listening to pastor porkchop.

Any insights you got reading over it? I'm not seeking any particulars I'm just looking for something that spoke to you :)

You may find this link helpful.. the comment section offers lots of insight. I DO find it weird that there would be different "versions" of the gospel, though not surprising, considering the leaders and their motives at the time.

The older we get, the more we realize that we don't know much..

You're reading the wrong book. What you need is the Old Testament, Genesis 1:29 to be specific.

Genesis 1:29
Authorized (King James) Version

29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

GoinGrey, it appears that cbotany is looking for discrepancies in the codex and modern versions translations..

From beginning to end..
Revelation 22:2
In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

HalleluYah
All praises to The Most High and His Son Yahushua

Ok I see, I got stuck on the misaligned values.

It's my understanding that they are "very close" but I haven't looked into it, just something I have taken at face value, high school religious studies or wherever.

Yeah people where discrediting it in the comments? Where just factual information from where its from, and diary entries of monks prove that its real? Its so odd the age we live in, you ever see finding nemo? You know the seagulls ? When one starts chirping off the rest do... I'm a big believer in truth but damn man so many people are kinda full of shit.

Yeah man, I'm big on herbablism, and I think alot of christians just so happen to smoke weed, but very few seem to be into the community of growing/sharing do to taboos. Weird shit man, big fan of genesis.

And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth,
i need nothing else. i've never heard a minister talk down about cannabis, and more than a few that think it being illegal is a crime against humanity. the only folks against it do not understand it. JMHO anything can be misused/abused.
