Hi @dubi, I would appreciate your feedback regarding two of my Yunnan plants. I switched 12/12 just yesterday but these weird balls seems like they formed much earlier. Also they grow on the very weird random places like the stem of the leave and etc. How should I treat them? Premature males, or just herms? Have you seen such growing patterns in Yunnan plants? Also one of the female is really tiny and dwarf looking.

Of course you can use them as males, however, you can expect the resulting seeds and plants to carry on the herm trait. You can also reverse a solid female if you have one and use pollen from that to produce seeds that are less likely to carry a herm trait.

I have four males and no females, unfortunately. I want to keep one male, so I think I should choose the one I liked that showed its sex after switching to 12/12, rather than the ones pictured above that showed their sex prematurely. Please share your thoughts.

Hi @Tranquilidade yeah, i've seen that many times in pure China Yunnan after all these years and generations working with the strain. Young, immature plants of the strain tend to produce strange things at preflower sites, like branches or other odd formations, especially when forced to flower before reaching sexual maturity.

Looks like it has produced only male flowers so far. It’s not uncommon for the strain to produce early males that start sexing and producing fertile male plants at a very young stage, or even still in full veg. Sorry no females this round 🙁

But which plant you would choose as a male for stability? The ones that prematurely flowered or the one that flowered after 12/12?

I would need to check and smell in person every male, and check during flowering their traits, yield, stability, etc ...

Good news, apparently I judged prematurely as this is not a ball, I saw few white pistils on this plant, it's a girl :ROFLMAO: Despite that I will be watching her closely for herms. Also I have one female of Yunnan x S.A.G.E. a cross I made last year with my winning S.A.G.E. mother.

She grows slowly, remaining small and leafy, with creamy floral notes and a hint of sour fruit. Tomorrow I'll be dusting her with a very similar looking Yunnan male. I also have Colombian gold legacy edition male pollen in the fridge from the last run and will use it to dust another branch.
