I am growing Killer Chemdog and Chemdog BX2 from rez and majority of my plants have all the issues stated, but I don't really see it being a harmful problem so far. Some plants with a couple half-white half-green leaves, some with crazy variegation speckles (almost looks like some weird fractal), some leaf twisting with one ofem in early veg that was half green like normal and half white, but also twisted looked crazy.

Other than some abnormalities they look and smell wonderful, with most having pretty strong branches so far, but we'll see 50-60 days in flowering how they hold up. So far I am putting this whole TMV thing in the same category as the blueberry mutant anomalies. Simply no big deal.

Would be nice if some sort of scientist would figure out if this really is anything of concern, but I am sure it will take years before anything like that, if ever happens.

Hope mine in the end smell as loud as you are describing that would be great.

ya and spicoli saw with his own eyes the affected areas on a couple clones it spread to in my garden....clones which did not have it for years till they were brought into contact with affected plants...who knows....(should i have spelled that effected?)

OK guys I'm real busy but have decided to tell you all I know, and what to do..

I have submitted pics in my album for you people to see first hand what TMV
looks like in cannabis.

Various symptoms ,,all from varying effects of TMV while it is doing it's mutating
and replicating withing the cell structure.

Please take a look,,,and I'll add this..
I have it from the Chem#4 or Original Diesel clones.

Or should I say had it...

I'll be back later to help out.

I will not however waste my time with idiots who say it's a deficiency,PH swing
or insects,,,my garden is solid and I've been doing this for longer than most here
have had feet on planet earth.

This is far worse than the leaf variegation that some have posted,,,at least my
strain of TMV was...

more later..

I have one pheno from OG Raskals white/bubba that has displayed this since basically 2-3 weeks from seed and it has not spread to the other plants next to or around it.

Awesome thread CC... I love Chem4 it is a great medicine...

I saw this plant at a club last week in Hollywood and they were claiming it to be chem4... It was HUGE...

it looked like OG Kush to me or some crazy sativa... But what do I know.... Is the Chem4 Lanky and stretchy like OG?

Does anyone have a picture of Chem4 in veg?

I would love to take them in a picture of chem4...anyone have any veg shots...

Thanks in advance!

that's what's funny about the ogkush, the leaves are wide like an indica dominant would be but the internodes are long like a sativa...most og's have weak stems too.

oh yeah...it depends on how you prune the plant. The chem4 imo does not grow like og kush.

Loving this organic thread.Hate your not keeping the Chem D but I understand your reasoning completely.I would like to offer my observation on the Chem D clone.I truly don't believe the clone has TMV.Its more of a genetic drift do to adaptation. In my opinion, we have taken cannabis out of its natural environment, change the temperature she is grown under, pumped her up with chemicals and sugars and this is the fallout from our efforts.Cannabis, like humans adapt to environmental changes by showing different expression threw physiological pathways. In other words the stomata stays open more often than normal. It clear that this clone is growing tired. Some will disagree but do a search on what is tmv and its effects on plants.Variegated leaves occur naturally in cannabis as well as other annuals.Just my opinion. Thanks for the thread CC!Awesome as always!

I'm NOT convinced 100% yet that it is a virus. Some folks are more than convinced, though, so I must keep an open mind. I'd figure we'd see the variegation on all leaves if it were a virus... Instead, it is prevalent on some branches, while not on others... This seems somewhat more like a case of genetic variegation.

In the nursery plant business, some of the famous variegated landscape plants were clones taken from variegated branches of normally NOT variegated plants. In other words... the plant is normal except for one branch that shows variegation... if you clone from that variegated branch, you get more variegated plants. This is true in the nursery business, this is probably the case in this business. A good experiment would be to only clone from Chem D branches that are not showing the variegation... It may well be that careful selection of unvariegated branches could lead to future clone generations with little or no variegation.

Was going to ask this, We took clones off our D from different spots and noticed some kept the variegated look and some didn't.should have labeled where each cut came from :wallbash:.
I will try this if possible next go around. I think you might be on to a way to
get rid of the variegation (problem????) on the "D".

PeaceINH

Chem 4 (Day 30ish)

Chem 4 (Day 30ish)

Chem 4 day like 37-39 or something. Notice the TMV..I've ran it a couple of times, and it always appears. It's like a strain thing, because it doesn't effect my other strains at all. I spoke with Wonkanobe, and he told me it's very sensitive to light, and it TMV is common with chem 4...It doesn't seem to effect quality at all, because it's puts you on your ass every single time, just makes your plants look terrible...LOL..Notice the yellowing in the middle, but not on the sides...

Hope this helps

I believe I have this cut, Chem 4, it looks like it and not many degrees of separation. I have been working with it for 1 year. When done well it is great, yield massively, buds airy but thats sort of OK.

PROS: Nice overall looks, leaves are nice sheen and color. Colas are massive, can get monster sized colas. Undergrowth can be good as well, pretty frosty. Color of finished bud is sorta gold shimmering. The bud when dried is not too dense, but I believe this is sorta a good thing cos lots of crystals up in the structures that can evolve and not be compressed on inside so overall lots of crystals.

CONS: Sort of tempermental just a bit (like many other strains) small lower brancehs can fall over so need to prune small junk carefully. I think few stroner leads are better than lots of stringy stuff on bottom half which will inevitable fall down. These Chem 4 buds get so heavy easily can overwhelm branches. I usually go 9 (63 days) weeks and its fine tho I think it could easily use another week or two. Am experimenting with 10 weeks now (70 days)

My main complaint is that it consistently herms for me. Somewhere in middle of plant, very consistently will be a few pollen berries that send out pollen that can pollinate and produce seeds. The way I deal with this is to spray Dutch Masters Reverse. Once on day 0 of flower and again at day 10. This stops herm seeds from being produced and so I am happy. Reverse also provides great yields so it certainly has no bad effects, and in fact I have gotten some giant yields with reverse so it might even make better yields tho I gotta do some comparisons to tell that over time.

Does anyone else have herm problems with Chem 4? Its a nuisance now but was a problem till i found reverse.
