Yes... facts are nice... But I still haven't seen any. I've had the ?TMV? affected Chem D for a couple years... and it has never spread to another plant. Also, I notice that the variegation dissipates when the plants are given a perfect regimen of nutrients... it doesn't disappear altogether, but the effects are greatly reduced.

Someone must have bonafide scientific-like information about TMV and its effects on cannabis. Anyone?

i wish we could get the be all end all answer to this.....i am currently watching this virus, whatever it is, slowly spread through cali.....yes i realize it has been around for awhile, but here in cali, there are cuts being distributed w the virus at dispensaries....whatever it is, it IS spreading to other plants. some peeps think it is spread thru recirculating nutes, not leaf to leaf contact....doesnt tmv spread thru leaf to leaf? i had a chem d get killed off basically, from light poisining...i think someone mentioned this virus makes it susceptible(?) <too early on sunday to spell> to light poisining...i see this as possibly being an epidemic, and if it happens in cali, its gonna get around....

I've mentioned light poisoning on the affected leaves. I have a few Chem D plants left before I'm done with it. Taking no more clones. There has been no spreading to my other plants... and I don't use any recirculating system methods... so maybe that is how it spreads.

how many days do you usually let the #4 flower CC?

Well, my honest answer is... I harvest when all the stars are properly aligned. I don't count days.

The stars that must be aligned are: ripeness, cleanliness (properly flushed), and my need to harvest. Sometimes a plant may be ready enough to harvest... but I don't need it quite yet... so she'll get another week. Sometimes the plant may be just reaching harvest-able ripeness, and the flush is good enough AND I need the herb harvested... so I harvest. In other words... I harvest whenever the plants and my own needs line up.

If I had to give you a number of days to run her... I'd say 80 is a perfect, stony high and rich taste. However, as early as 60 days won't disappoint too many smokers... as long as the herb burns well.

Funny thing about Chem #4 is... she'll keep flowering even after she's ripe... as long as she's eating. This means she's very good for a production plant, as long as the grower feeds enough to keep her flowering, while making sure not to feed so much as not to be able to properly flush the plant by harvest time. Good nutrition makes for harsh smoke (unfortunately), so you must provide good nutrition long enough to grow what you want to grow... then starve the bitches til they go blonde ;)

It's good, Sackojaweeda :) Hope things are well on your end. :)

Best wishes,
cc

I am looking forward to this! We are running our #4s in all organic too! We got a good friend who sent a stork over with 10 each of ChemD, Chem#4 and A11.Only ONE #4 made it and ONE A11. This is the second time hubby and I have tried the D:mad: Never get that fucker to root! lol
Got this one tagged CC! Hubby has talked a good bit about you, and I have read plenty of your stuff. Love your Chem and SFV work man!

What wifey said. Your albums should be textbook on what 4 and D should look like. Hope my A11 looks like your too, lol:respect::friends:
Pretty sure I am running the same cut as you CC, and have had no virus issues as of yet. I have a notoriously hard time getting the D to root, even had 10 cuts gifted last time, ner a one made it :wallbash: Im wondering if this virus thingie is to blame.
And I agree 1000% with CCs harvest method, lol...The jars tell me when to harvest! Ideally, for my PERSONAL taste/high, I prefer to take #4 at 70 days. Not that my opinion was asked, lol.
What symptoms would I be looking for to see if it has spread to other plants in the garden? Any warning signs? Possible to treat or just quarantine or cull?
Sorry to clutter your thread with noob questions man, lol.

good vibes

Heya, Whiskey... The virus shows itself as leaf variegation (white blotches where chlorophyll is not present). These areas sometimes curve the leaf a little, and in flower, these white areas are prone to dying off due to what appears to be light poisoning.

I haven't seen it on #4 at all.

Sweet! Thanks a bunch for the knowledge kind sir!:respect:
I got some FUN FUN projects lined up for this 4 cut. Like you said man, this is if not the number one, definitely one of the best 2-3 meds I have EVER smoked. She is even beautiful to watch grow. Ill keep her around for ever.

I'm tired as all hell of arguing with people on these forums.
Been doing this way too long.

When I comment on something you can be assured I speak from experience and research,I'm far from some dumb kid growing my first Nirvana beans under an incandescent in his closet.

This disease is TMV it is present in many cuts being shared all over the US and it transmits as easily amongst plants in your garden,(cannabis) as a flu virus on a crowded train.

Try researching it,,,I researched the hell out of it.

I mentioned over a year ago that this will plague cannabis gardens soon, and it is as I predicted,,,

How did I know? because I've never had my ass kicked with regards to a disease in all my years of gardening.

It will make spider mites look like kid stuff..

How did I get it?

from a fellow gardener who shared some cuts,,among them was the chem#4 cut and original Diesel....

one of those cuts had it,,I at first thought it was a batch of dirt with fungus gnats that infected me..

Will the disease effect your success with clones?
Yes 100%

and if you can get even 1 in 20 cuts to root while a plant is infected you'll be doing well,,,and this is with a plant that doesn't even have symptoms showing.

Try taking cuts from a plant and watch how quickly the plant goes into a sick state from the stress that it induced.

Keep your eyes on the forums and watch how bad this will get....

This is only the tip of the iceberg...

If I could go back in time,I would never ever accept a cut or a seed of any Chem lineage just to have avoided this,,,it's really that serious.

Hey Sub
You've always been a stand up guy in my eyes so I'll help you all I can,I've had as much experience with this virus with regards to cannabis as you'll find.

I documented alot of it at the Cabana 1.5 years ago.

It is spread through many vectors easily,,,think fungus gnat larvae that are eating away at you infected plant's roots,,,they then mature and end up as gnats laying eggs in your other plants root zones, those new larva with the virus in their cells, now snack on and infect your accompanying plants in the room.

The dried leaves that fall to the floor , get stepped on and turn into powder all carrying the live virus for up to 5 years active(yes even in dried media) can be spread about.

Nutrient solution carries the virus from the roots of infected plants to infect the other roots in that system.

touching one plants and then another will transmit it. etc..
Plant tools,trays,etc..

This virus spreads and usually a plant will seem ok or not up till flower time, and you can be 2-3 weeks into flower and all the leaves will succomb to whiting out and burning from very little light, rendering your plant a worthless pile of shit.

Or it can flare up fully and prevent the plant from producing any viable flowers ,, very little thc production and buds that are 2% the size they should be. Stunted.. x 100

I've seen plants flower almost 90% successful in hydro as the stress is minimal,,,but the disease is still there and makes cloning all but impossible.

It will infect all of your plants and cuts I promise..

It will destroy your hobby and garden be assured...

Messenger was the only thing that actually worked at treating new seedlings to keep them immune as I maintained my sterile environment practices to finally rid myself of it.

It in reality stopped me from being a successful gardener for almost 2 years and I lost many moms(elite) due to it.

I hope all people maintaining hard to acquire mom's that are breeding blocks for many seed lines,,,stay on the cutting edge as to what is happening, and keep all chem cuts away from their gardens...

I would hate to see a Bubba K or Jackie O Trainwreck cut not available to those tight knit groups as they have all been exposed.

somedaysoon - you and i must have some different form of the TMV virus.. I have over 4 strains (mostly ogk cuts) that show the leaf twist/curl trait. Have had some of them for years now, and i havent ever noticed any difference in my cloning success.. If anything, ive been getting better/quicker success with these og's than i used to

Bummer it made it hard for you to root 1 outta 20 cuts, i think you and i must have a different virus

I saw Cabby deal with this stuff and for sure he is not a hack. For him the TMV, what he deduced it to be, wiped out his moms. It looked very bad and acted fast...which is not what I've been seeing with other peeps deal with regarding this subject. He was a ciggy handler/smoker and felt it was THAT which infected and ruined his garden.

Messenger was the only thing that actually worked at treating new seedlings to keep them immune as I maintained my sterile environment practices to finally rid myself of it.
I've read some good things about Messenger.

wowo i wonder if it was the 'virus' that got my moms, not the root aphids - the root masses were clean....

I've grown the Chem D with the virus for several years. Never transmitted, stopped them from rooting, killed a plant, slowed flower, etc... We must have something different... or our grow conditions prevent similar results. Whatever the case... Only my Chem D has ever shown signs... and they touch every other plant in the garden at one time or another. It has not been a drastic problem here. There's some weak spots on leaves, which isn't ideal... but it's not devastated anything. This is my experience.

Seems to be alot of drama surrounding this virus but as i've read/seen your past reporting on your own grows of the ChemD , seems to have not been that much of a problem for u CC ;)

Glad ur liking the Chem4 these days , have yet to grow out a cut of the ChemD i have liked as much ....though the Chem3 is showing some promise having a much nicer budstructure & eye appeal than the C4 if not almost equal to it in earthy dankness . The Chem3 is also much more easy to root out in veg & not half as much the finicky girl in early veg where the chem4 drives me crazy each time . Not really sure if the C3 is a true SD x OG , or just some variation between the C4 & CD which Chemdog & co put out on occasion.

Hey CC , wondering if u could post some of your latest pics of your keeper ESCD , CC ? Would love to see some nice close-in shots of the sour deez, as u grow it back there .:woohoo:

** Here on the WC we don't see the real deal SD genetics that often , though do have some of the real Headband genetics & the wide range of OG derivitive strains , but both of these variants seem to be the slowest & stretchiest mamas to ever be seen around . Can't argue with the finished meds of each as both fetch that top dollar range & demand . If one has the time & patience to work around their obvious drawbacks .

Hey that reminds me , you've been growing out the OG back there to? Post a few pics if u have would love to see them mon ami . And getting yields on the OG to !!?? PLease LIGHT UP THE WAY !! :) :) :)

best regards
