Hello folks, :tiphat:

First of all, a word of thanks to all the fine gentlemen in the AF forum for all the knowledge and wisdom I have gained from you. This grow would have certainly never happened without you guys :tiphat:. Also, a big thanks to MDanzig for his great breeding, and generosity ;)

Also, a BIG thanks to mossy, I'll tell you guys why in a few weeks ;)

Gonna be popping 6x Sour60, 5x Bluestreak, and 1x LR2 FEM. In a few weeks I'll be popping some other strains too to make it perpetual.

These same seeds were grown by my buddy hisser, and you can see his epic results. Hopefully, I will push these genetics to their limit as well. Wish me luck folks :)

Grow tent: Secret Jardin DR60 60x60x140(cm) or ~2x2x4 (ft)

Lamp: Philips MasterColor CMH 250w (Horizontal) in a cooltube running 20/4 constantly throughout the grow (This lamp is REALLY bright ! and white !)

Medium: Canna Coco Plus+Perlite (3:2)

Genetics: 6x MDZ Sour60, 5x MDZ Bluestreak, 1x JDR LowRyder#2 (FEM)

Pots:
1x7L pot (for LR2 FEM)
10x2L tall bottles (for the regular seeds)

The females will be transplanted (extreme raised) into 7L pots, best male will be kept in the bottle, others killed.

Nutes and additives:
Canna Coco A+B
SuperThrive (ST ROCKS !, when applied sparingly)
Canna Rhizotonic
Canna Boost + Molasses (applied together, hence no pk13/14 needed)

I'll be going easy on the nutes and additives though,as all will be applied at lower-than-specified dosages.

I will be roughly following this schedule (Without cannazym and pk13/14, with a drop(1/12-1/14ml) per gal every now and then of ST):

(Pre-Grow PICS)

(There's some ghetto'ing round the cooltube. A temporary fix for hanging the bulb, also if you notice the reflector is missing, will be fixed in a few days.. not like its needed, I need to squint to look inside my tent lol)

Day 0

All comments and suggestions welcome and encouraged. No negativity, and especially no AF-Hating please:nono:.
I'm seeking advice from people who've bred with Sour60 about which male to select. I would appreciate your help mates when the time comes.

ps: Thread will be updated with pics on a weekly basis.

*Final Update*
Grow went to shit around page 4, but I made a few seeds so it wasnt a total disaster.
New thread will be up in a few days and linked here.

Hey CE, glad to see it at last, best of luck budd, auto-perpetualism FTW :ying:

Hey hisser, nice to see you here bro.
Had a chair just for you. :)

Slight change of plans, I sowed 5 bluestreak only as a germ test. The rest will follow when the bluestreak babies show. This is because I have a spare amount of bluestreak while none of the other strains. If something goes wrong with the direct-in-coco approach, i'll go with the paper-towel method. Hopefully direct in coco will work fine.

Updated first post with Day 0 pic.

.... I know. Transparent bottles. I am still deciding whether to go transparent or opaque. Lots of people have used transparent pots with no bad effect on the roots. I didn't have any black opaque duct tape around anyway lol...

Looking good! Extreme Raised Transplanting is the way to go, at least with AF plants. On my last S60 run I checked the rootball at harvest and most of it was in the lower half of the pot (which was about a foot high, roughly 1gal). I'm pretty sure I would have yielded more if I had ERT'd it (always learning in this hobby, ain't it great?).
About the transparent bottles... I've never had a problem with light reaching the roots when using transparent containers, but it shouldn't be too hard to find some tape (regular, a few layers should do the trick) or bags to block some light.
Best of luck with your grow!

Nice setup, I have the same tent. That cmh light has the best spectrum out there.

If you are not, you should wear uv blocking sunglasses while working in tent or just turn the light off. The cmh throws uv and is just too bright to not damage your eyes some after a while.

well m8, it will be good to see you in action finally...get to join in the fun.:dance013:

Tropic..
ERT indeed sounds great. I will be applying it the same way mdz does it. If i get something anywhere near his stellar results I'll be a happy man. Duct tape, yeah easy to find, not so easy when all the shops are closed :p I kinda ran out during mid-setup and so did not have any left to wrap around the bottles. I will be doing more research about transparent bottles since they have a nice advantage of giving you a visual on your roots for you to check their progress with. Thanks for k+, the site won't allow me to give you any more rep lol.

Yesum..
Word bro. Thanks for your concern. I'm wearing uv blocking glasses while working yeah, as I can barely open my eyes without them. This bulb is great and the light really resembles day light.

Chyna bro, always welcome in here :) Was waiting for you to pop in. The only thing I'll ask of you is your advice in selecting which male I use from the lot I will get. That's a few weeks from now though, so we'll cross that bridge then. Other than that feel free to make any comments and/or suggestions.

Thanks for visiting mates, hope I put on a good show for you.
I'll update with a pic when the BS have popped their heads out. Expecting that in 2 days max.

I totally forgot to mention. LST will be applied. Heavily.
The plan is to make an even (relatively) canopy of buds. Instead of popping many small plants and doing a sog, I pop less bigger plants and lst them to grow completely horizontal, and in circles, if needed.

When the canopy is even, I'll get the cooltube as close as I can, and at that point, most of the bud sites will be saturated with light.
This differs in an un-lst'd plant, where light decreases as you go down the nodes due to shading from upper leaves/buds. The light also gets less intense as you travel away from the lamp. This obviously matters when your plant is a meter or more tall. Both factors contribute to loss of yield potential, and a uniform quality in the crop.

You will still have multiple nodes stacked above each other in an LST canopy, but nothing as serious as a full grown vertical plant as the total height of the plant will be effectively 30-40cm.

Forgot to mention LST too, mate. I don't know if all autos take it well, but I've seen great results from trained AF plants (different strains). I've LST'd Sour60 with success, and that's the way I'll be growing them next time. One thing I've noticed is that it is better to start LST as soon as possible. In some cases, around week 2, I said to myself "I'll wait until they grow a couple more nodes then start training it", well I was wrong, the lateral branching barely catched up with the top. So from now on, the sooner the better, at least for me.
On a side note, I'm also growing some Mossy's Mix f2s, applied LST too late, doesn't look like they will end up branchy enough. But that's no problem, this was just a test grow (3 seeds in a single 4L pot) to see if these f2s (from selected parents) kept the orange/tangerine/citrus smell their mother carried, and so far the 3 of them smell identical to her, I couldn't be more happy!
Anyways, good luck with that LST, it is a great tool for growing AFs!

All I can say is....
....About bloody time m8....:biglaugh: :biglaugh: :biglaugh:

I can't wait to see how the grow tent performs.
The delay on the lamp was damnable..but heigh ho..such is life.

Speed & Safety for them....:clover:

and in 8 weeks time..I hope you'll have grown your own little bit of Heaven.

Have a great weekend m8...:joint:

What does the thermometer say in your tent? Im probably not gonna go cooltube..?
This is good material for me. Im glued.

Temperatures are bordering from 27 to 29C at the moment, according to ambient room temps. However the ambient room temps are somewhat stable, but, grow room is still empty at the moment. We'll see how it fares with all that density. I'm not worried about temp issues though ( was actually worried about it being too cold), the cooltube+CMH imho is the perfect combination for anything 250W in a DR60 (other than LEDs obviously but we're talking HIDs here). The company (tent company) themselves recommend 150W for the DR60.

Anyhow,
Good news !
I was away from the grow room for a whole day (yesterday), and I came back a few minutes ago for a nice surprise !
All 5 BS have popped their heads, within 2-3 days of putting in coco.

Test results ? An astounding success.

What exactly did I do ? Give the coco bottles a good watering with canna Rhizotonic solution, seed straight into coco with no presoak or anything, and keep misting them every quarter-day or so. Because I was not gonna be around them for a whole day, I gave them a good watering (thru misting within small intervals, NEVER WATER UNGERMINATED SEEDS!!!!! flooding and displacing them f***s shit up) and layed a VERY loose plastic bag (cut) over them just to make the surface stay relatively humid.

They're all fine now, and will recieve a light watering with rhizotonic.
I will be popping the 5 sour60s and LR2 fem today aswell.
So, pics later on today, and then a week after that for the weekly update.

Hey flying goat, :tiphat:
Thanks for the kind words

I'm thrilled to be part of the show too :bump: heheheh.
I've always been fond of lst myself. We'll see once again how well it performs, I hope.

Updated the summary post (2nd thread) with pics, but I'll post them here anyway with an extra pic.

Yeah I cleaned the cooltube after seeing that pic.
Never really realize how dirty it got until I took the pic.

5xS60 have been popped into bottles, LR2 fem seed into the big 7L pot.
