it's seems that amazon dot com is selling pgz18-sockets individually. this seems to be hardest part to source. "6kv pulse rated PGZ18 socket for CDM-TMW lamps" sounds right? and i've found euro source too, cords and cables co uk. hope these sites ok to mention?

We used the same trellis material. But i didnt cut my squars the as big. I guess great mins think a like.

Lol, I bought that stuff to keep the rabbits out of my vegetable garden. I had bought a real trellis net from wtg, but open opening the package, it immediately struck a pose similar to that of a bird nest.... So snip snip lol

I am thinking about using a 400W CMH for vegging only. I assume that the consensuns is that a CMH is better for vegging than a MH?

Furthermore which 400W CMH bulbs are still available and are not discontinued?

Yeah I too had trouble finding the other temperature CMH. The reason I loved the old ones was ease, now I gmhave to figure color temp choices out.

The crop is in. Numbers are on par with what I grew the same plants out at under LEDs and w/~250w of HO T5s. However, the buds are a much better quality - pretty dense IMO . I will be getting these two strains lab tested and I have lab results from both available from previous grows for comparison - I'll post that up once the lab results are in, which will be at the end of cure which will be another 3 weeks anyways. These lights are going to be my primary lights going forward. I do plan to add 2 LEDs as they are setting on my shelf, so why not.

Harvest is complete and jarred. The only plant I can really compare to the last grow is the CBD Snow Goddess. She produced about the same under these lights as under the LEDs, but the nugs are frostier this time and more dense IMO. Which is cool because I really like the "sunlight" feel from the bulb.

I trimmed differently this this time also - only kept tops, the rest are destined for the tincture bottle. But even so, I would say it grew even on weight. I'm a noob grower and made plenty of mistakes.....

1,342g wet weight buds
~134g dry cured buds = 5 oz
1,261g wet weight high quality trim (no fan leaves, only lower buds, popcorn buds and sugar leaf)

I'm sorry if I missed it, but what distance do you guys use for the 315s in bloom? Light movers...foot prints? Thanks in advance. There's absolutely no question in quality, just want to know how you guys are achieving these yields?

$240 for a ballast, bulb and socket 315w CDM

$640 for an allbright complete unit from cycloptics.

So $400 for a reflector????

I love the reflector but that is a serious barrier!

Any opinions/thoughts if a cheap batwing or medium adjustawing would be worth it?

Looking good jorgeblen!

Yeah I know how amazing CMHs are, but those reflectors are just way too over priced. I paid 100$ for the vertical 860w CMH, and another 120$ for a descent MH 1000w mag ballast. I have as much PAR as nearly 2 1000w HPS bulbs! I'm trying my first vert in a 5x5 tent. I keep the bulb 16" from plants, and I just bought a $145 a light mover for when I add a second deck. I'll easily get at least 2g/watt with a bare vert bulb. I just couldn't justify the price of those reflectors when vert gets you more surface area....without an overpriced hood. I think those damn hoods drive people away from great lighting and results CMH offers! No offense to anyone using the vert reflectors.

it seems that the parts are bit more easily available (by today's standards) than what it was just barely year ago. there's plenty of reasons why folks don't want to buy complete setup but instead the bare parts needed.

regarding these parts, i'll ask again about the socket since this got me confused:

is it correct that the old pgz18-socket works with newer open rated pgzx18-bulbs? sorry about repeating, but at least it's not anymore about can my digi run retrowhite :)

non, as far as I can know the closed rated sockets that are commonly available, the PGZ18, will work with the open rated bulbs that are designed for PGZX18, meaing the PGZ18 will work with either bulb. There is a picture explaining it on the advancedlighting cdm section.

Exactly. The PGZX18 sockets are designed for open fixtures and will not accept the PGZ18 single-jacket T9 lamps. The PGZ18 sockets are intended for enclosed fixtures only, and will accept either lamp. This is to ensure that people do not inadvertently use the single-jacket lamp in an open fixture and unknowingly put themselves in a potentially hazardous position. It does get confusing, even for vendors - I've seen several sites using pictures of the wrong lamps in their advertising.

one thing I've noticed, upon moving plants from under the CMH to HPS lighting, plant leaves seemed more sensitive to the light of hps, had some light burning happen (slight, nothing 2 major at all) on plants that were still easily 20 inches from the hps bulb,
im guessing its got something to do with being vegged under the cmh 315 agro phillips bulb with ballast from boulderlite
