That's what my grow shop calls them, and to a certain extent it is a "conversion" bulb, as you are converting a HPS ballast to run Metal Halide.
Ask to see the box, it will sat Ceramic Metal Halide on it.

Yeah CTS-V, I get it that these are a type of conversion, but I was under the impression that not all HPS to MH conversion bulbs are CMH. I was looking for the Phillips brand specifically.. maybe I missed the part where other brands are discussed in this thread?
For now I am going to use a generic HPS bulb in my new 400w ballast until I can get some CMH bulbs..

Well, I don't want a 250 actually which is what it appears to be pictured.
I have specifically requested the Phillips CDM400S51/HOR/4K/ALTO which is the 400w version. The bulbs they were offering me were not "Ceramic Metal Halide" which is why I'm seeking a Canadian retailer for them. Shipping over the border is a huge pain..

yes when seeking out TRUE CMH order these numbers below (no other part number) this specific lamp/SPD is this part number only.. (If they cant get that exact lamp u don't want there equivalent cause its not the same)

i say buy from adv tech. the biggie they are the only ones to preburn there CMHs this needed as you may get a Dud without preburning..
(they ship INTL very simple)
but in the end we only care if u get a cmh where is not the major concern.. just dont cheap out so bad good companies can continue to RD all lamps as they continue to come out seeking that perfect lamp.. No other companies do this for us..
yes these are labeled as conversion/retrofit bulbs however they aren't the typical Conversion bulb as we know it.(shroter than normal life iffy spd etc)
it really just so happens the cmh runs on HPS cores with very little mods internally VS standard cmh which runs on PUlse start Metal Halide Ballasts (the hps retro is actually better)
PB, a social group how da world we get that going.. Really in a year there will be no talk of hps or mh even in the commercial world. its all going to cmh..the 39-150watt cmhs are actually around u more than you know..

What about www.bulbs.com which is where I used to get 'em. Or www.lightbulbmarket.com They may ship to canada?
CTSV, just to settle confusion, that is a 250 watt bulb box that is in the pic above. Did you have 250's at one time?

Go to User menu, under Networking: Social Groups.
It's easy for any member to create...and you can fine tune it as time goes along. You can make it a public group or a private group by invite only. I recommend public group.
(I would do it, but I already have one to manage...CSA)

I run my CMH lights from a hydrofarm switchable ballast on HPS setting so I would say the answer would be YES!
