You write "pink slips" to your lawyer or public defender requesting bail reduction, then your lawyer goes to a bail hearing and explains why your bail should be reduced.
Last time I was in court for a bail hearing I stood up when my name was called, heard the charges and immediately asked for a reduced bail and was granted. I was released for about half of what it should have been.
Funny thing too is that the sheriff that arrested me was the one that suggested I do it and vouched for me at the hearing. I thought it strange as I was out of state but had no priors and didnt give the cops a hard time, though I wasn't exactly cooperative.
