It is a mystery...it was either a created line or a found plant from known BB stocks at the time. (mid 80's). But the reality is her background is of an uknown origin...

Nice write up on the lil guy. Mines in 12/12 and looking outstanding. i got some plans to knock up the CB as well. But found her to be autoflowering on me upon arrival. had 2 cuts of it, 1 i flowered immediately after it rooted. The other im gonna veg and hope she comes out of flower. Will also knock up the digi mom. Thanks df, your a gem.

She autos when root bound, too wet, or depleted...well, she autos. Wont go into FULL flower, stops at like a 10 day behavior...but it is annoying. We will be selecting, then selecting again from the first round, remiving all that show an auto tendency. When Pillthy took the first cutting...it was @ nearly 4wk flower. We've always wondered if this is why she is stuck in eternal flower so to speak. You have to give her extra root space and rotate mothers frequently. Every next mom requires perfect timing to catch the window before she wants to auto. I've selected cuts with barely a pistil showing and she still wants to auto...lol. In part why many have run then culled her. Me, it's about that cannabinoid profile...she is epic. I'll battle many issues and undesirable traits to have her in my bowl even twice a year!

4wk pollinated Carolina Blue

4wk pollinated Carolina Blue

Old school methods for old school plants, Chili....lol

Now the moment we've ALL BEEN WAITING FOR....drum roll please....

picture.php

Take notice that there is very little if any tip burn and she still has those lovely curling / wavy leaves ... oh sooooo blueberry!

picture.php

In two more weeks, the undersides of her leaves will be an alluring shade of periwinkle (lavender / light purple) But look at those SEEDS!!!

You can see her color up ... but always where the light hits her the most. Such STICKY resin...unlike others in a special tacky way. This stuff is GLUE.

We have ourselves some organic salad toppers being made!! (as our friend SOTF would say)

:tiphat:

Happy New Year!

killer d.f!

as far as autoflowering... yeah she has that tendency. i have kept moms or taken clones of vegging plants... either way she will live and last in the grow room. she has been in mine for 2-3 years now. when she autos she kicks out some pistils but then stops and stays in that state. still clones, clones still veg and she flowers normally. just odd to see is all. i vegged out a big one and flowered it. ended up almost 4 foot tall and yielded close to three ounces. no topping just run straight up. some killer herb and makes the jar smell oh so berry.

Interesting...really, VERY INTERESTING...

Interesting...really, VERY INTERESTING...

Personally I grew the Blueberry cut DJ Short let out in Cali... It was not very Blueberry... It was a sweet purple hybrid... Just another common pot plant... Nothing stood out... It wasnt very strong, boring flavor and high, weak plant that was very prone to powdery mildew and loved making friends with the local spider mites... Didnt seem like it was selected for resistance or overall health... Its a pretty plant, good as an ornamental plant in my opinion.

That experience told me all I needed to know... That is a cut picked out and personally released by DJ Short... I doubt it will get much better hunting through the seeds...

Just my little opinion, take care

While at the end of the day, this may not be a positive review.... ...

I want to call notice to the similarity in the leaf pattern, structure, behavior, and vein coloration between a DJ self selected plant, and the selection of Carolina Blue made by Phillthy...GREAT eye brother! Arawn certainly was on on point in pairing the GK male to the Blue Sat. 2.2. The GK has been lack luster in all the female expressions I've encountered as when it was used as a mother in an outcross. But every male outcross has been stellar. There is something to that.

MAN...I'd say we are using an EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT example of Blueberry that even DJ himself would be proud of!

But then looking at my pictures posted, I'll need to get a better leaf shot in here to show what I am talking about clearer...

Either way, what I'm seeing is accurate and once again just get me more excited...lol.

Not so much...can tell ya the generic crinkle and scents, but that is generic, you know that. Purple stems or veins...all blue traits. More of the old school type of berries seem to prefer much lighter feedings and will seem to much darker green hues than a typical plant when given too much N. Also watch for purple veins down the fan blades.

But really, I know THESE particular lines because I have spent an intimate amount of time with them on and off over the last couple of years. Seeing various others works and having some serious conversations with the folks that had a hand at each level and trying to understand what they were each trying to achieve...know that pairing these two plants really makes sense philosophically as much as genetically.

Just kinda have a pairing of fate here...I'm by no means an expert on the blue lines. Sorry to disappoint, but I'd hate to point you in the wrong direction. I'm once again was working on selecting towards a SPECIFIC pheno when selection of the male was done by myself... which may or may not be representative of the blue line as it stands in modern times...and this is his first breeding session. We may find out he is dud and not stud...let's not jinx it! The Carolina Blue is absolutely a marvelous selection of modern day blueberry, but was not selected on this basis, it just happens to be what she is. She was kept because of her general superiority to her siblings and other plants in flower at the time. And as this process was not done by myself, I really didn't have much say other than I really enjoy the quality of that plant. As you've read, she has her things that make others shy away from experiencing the quality of her...and that is unfortunate, but it is kinda funny as blueberry is SUPPOSED to be quirky by legend so it is only fair to have a bit of give and take..especially when the take has zero to do with cannabinoid content or quality.

The goal again...a stellar F1 hybrid for community enjoyment...and a base line with which to begin bringing Carolina Blue to the masses in what I hope is actually only an improvement in a very few small areas, and simply "clones" her exactly as she is. This is very hard to do...especially in the aspect of such a diverse progeny being unlocked in the F2 generation...we are talking literally bits and pieces of genetics from the last 30 years being recombined...it may be all the negative qualities are passed from each and I make me some bunk...lol. Who knows...but this is CERTAINLY the most fun I've had in quite some time!

Thanks everyone for taking a peek and coming along the journey with me!

this male BB bx1 of yours is an outstanding individual. Reminds me of the Bluebubble male I used. After testing his progeny, the consensus about his abilities are that of positive nature. I seriously doubt the seeds turn out bunk in any way shape or form. refining toward your final goal maybe.. But by no means bunk. I'll test some of the very same seeds out with the exact same pair. Thanks
