My thanksgiving just became great Ad today I just was checking out a blueberry male that I selected out of Dutch passions blueberry and the reason I am excited is because today I am checking him out and he has hairs also along with crystals everywhere!!

I been speaking to a memeber on here dank frank that has expierence with breeding in the blue lines because he and his friends have worked them. He kinda helped me choose because I remember reading a post of his saying that most plants males included if they show double leaf serrations they are usually potent plants.

Oh was his post right and I am glad I saved him because I remember Dj shorts writings and him saying that if you find these rare specimens you should hold onto them. I am stoked I might of found something really special. I am gonna post pics up of him when I get back home.

It's been a tough week for the pools...

This was not supposed to be a learning curve season...
Well... So much for that... lol

I just had to try new things...

Ok so last week i started to see issues developed on a few leaves..
Figured Mag-Lockout due to high PH.
Given the last time I checked my tap PH it ran clear 7s
Checked 2 months ago when I started the 1st seeds this season.

So I add up more ph down and things looked good.
2 days later I decide it's time for the a Eagle20 treatment as Im gearing up to flower...

Well the instructions are confusing as hell on the bottle...
Which may because im getting way to stoned the last couple weeks.
But I find instructions online that says 1oz to a 1 liter spray bottle and I go with it.

Still not sure if it's the right ratio.

Seems like wicked heavy ratio...IMO.. lol

I spray everything lights off and hours later
lights on and all look good...

24 hours later I see clear mag-lockout creeping and going stage 2.

Im like wtf. Shit will all be dead within 24 hours....
Can see it clearly happening.

SO....

I check the EC at find .4
PH looks like 6

I've decided it was a bad idea to mix the MM-CS in with the Jacks hydro,Dry mix... Stoner move...

I added as a mix. Per 5 gallon bucket.
Hot water to mix then cold to fill.
2 tsp JH+CS
1.5 Jacks Cal/n
1 tsp Protek
1 tsp PH down

Bucket reads EC 1.0
4 Buckets fill a pool
Didn't check the lower pools once mixed. Stoner move.

This was 4 days ago.
So I see browning leaf edges and lower leaves dying fast.
Rust spots and all kinds of bad signs...

I figure I got a combo of issues now and a
combo of things that could causing them.

I need to Simplify or they die,I decide...

I disconnect the timers for the flood pumps and use a pump connected to tubing leading to the bath tub and drain both pools.

Worked really good...

I go back to what worked before..

Each bucket.
2 tps pure Jacks hydro
1.5 tps Cal/N
But I drop 2 tsp Ph down per.
Thinking damn this tap PH is killing me.

24 hours later I see its worse and going critical in pool 2 and pool 1 is starting go show mass sign of Mag-Lockout...
Pool 1 was holding it's own till this point...

So....

Its got to be PH and I check my tap....

These damn stipes are a guess at best...lol
5-7 looks almost the same.

I check tap with drops and it looks like
a strong 6 but definitely not 7.

The pools look like a weak 6 as best I can tell,
but could be mid 5s is what im deciding
I have been seeing...

Colors are so damn close.. lol

So...
I drain the pools again as there are
not great ways to ph up available-on hand...

I then I decide this time im going to skip the ph down and EC a single bucket to get me EC 1.3 with just Jacks and Mag/N

This takes-Per bucket.

1.5 TBSP of Jacks
.75 TBSP of Cal-N

EC 1.3--Every time...

I fill each pool with 4 buckets and leave the
lights and floods off for 5 hours.

I make an Epson salt spray with 1.5 TBSP per 1L bottle and spray the shit out of everything.

Lights on that night and death has slowed...

That was 36 hours ago....

So....

Today... This is where they are at....

Now the strange this is....

I check the pools and both are:
EC .9

The seeds I placed before all this happened have shown up
and things look like they are on hold.

Not dying not growing.

I see just a hint of new growth on a couple plants and clones so Im afraid to bump the EC up and will just be thankful this day that they are not dead... lol

Hey ad sorry to hear about your troubles. Another option you can choose that works well and fast for foliar feed is dissolve some of that jacks in a spray bottle and mist your plants so this way they get every nutrient they need.

I have used this method many times for cal/mg def. and lockouts. Something to try out out maybe next time just mix it light. I usually use hydro research powder formula veg and bloom granular. But I mix it at half a teaspoon per liter of water and it will usually straighten out any cal/mg issues.

Isn't 1.5 tablespoons a little much with epson salt for a liter? Is that the proper ratio? I use to use 1 teaspoon per liter. Maybe I am wrong about the ratio and maybe that's why I haven't ever had fast results with epson salts.

Hope you get it under control AD as everything you were growing was looking so great!!

Peace mike

Almost looking like your ph is to acidic ad. I think the ram horn that the plants are showing is either to much nutrients or N overdose but could be also from to much water. I am not 100% but I would narrow it down to one of these issues.

You know my feelings on ph down so it wouldn't surprise me if you medium is way to acidic that stuff is brutal and I feel ph down causes more issues than it is worth.

If I ever need to use ph down I'll use my humboldt humic acid as a down and silica blast as a ph up from now on.

I hope you get it under control Ad sometimes promix is the best way to resort back to. Don't have to deal with all these fluctuations and ph this and oh that just water feed and leave them alone. Lol

Peace mike

It's all part of the journey...

Lessons learned....

I'll be proud if I can bring them back and feel good that I could stop the death... I would have lost them last year...

Now I just need to get smart enough to avoid these issues all together.

Yeah 1.5 tablespoons is a bit heavy but I wanted to stop things in their tracks.

About 30 minutes before lights on I hit them with straight water.

Seemed to work...

I will hit them today with just a touch of jacks 1/2 tsp in the spray bottle... Great idea... Thanks bro....

Well ive dropped the PH down all together and it is somewhere around a heavy 6...

The leaves not coming back up on the smaller plants and the yellowing on some is worrisome yet seems between the ph swings the chlorinated water and eagle20 in their system they have good reason to be sad.

I figure hands off for a couple days is a good path with signs of life showing....

Just watching the yellowing for now... But... Seems to have stoped.

Ill keep
N overdose but could be also from to much water
in mind and thanks for the tip,bro...

Ya the ram horns sucks ass. Good approach just leave them for a couple of days maybe a little Foilar feed while you try to let them recover.

I feel you pain ad because I know your next few days your mind is gonna be racing trying to correct these issues I have just dealt with this issue with this grow in coco and it drove me nuts.

I hope everything turns around for you bro so this way you can sleep easier at night.

Peace mike

Yep... TFAS is my flavor of the day...
Tried to wash it as well...But... Tried being the key word....

I washed it in the buckets with a hose for 10-15 minutes each but had lots of dust on the bottom of the lower pool...

Its clean now...

D9 recommends(somewhere) soaking new turface for a few hours with 400ppm? then draining/dispose of this water before filling up your buckets/pool. If you read "Optimizing the physical and nutritional environment of unleached root-zones” it goes into detail about how some bags of turface have different nutrient balances and exactly how the rinse/mostly soaking affects this balance. They discuss the results of a 5day soak with nutrients where the water is changed daily. Just wanted to throw this out there as a cause of your symptoms? But all the flooding/res changes shouldve gotten rid of any buildups. Interesting paper either way. Good luck

is mag/N a Jack's product?... I'm sure it's in the thread, but you post soo much that it's hard to go back and find some things.... you have a very organic way of doing things, constantly evolving... this is a he ll of a thread!

See what I mean... Way to stoned... Ive got Mag on the mind syndrome..

It's Jacks Cal/N ... :smoker::dunno::abduct:

you have a very organic way of doing things, constantly evolving...

Im almost ready to start just growing weed... Almost... lol

I wanted to try many different things/styles in as short a period as a could....
Then add that I want to have 2 modes as a Ganja farmer...

Breeder mode-
Need lots of little plants in a small space-Pheno hunting.

Grower mode...
Need 2-4 big plants to prove strains and provide personal smoke.

Making seeds need something in Breeder and grower mode between 4-6 medium size plants.

IMO.Kiddie pools allow me to do any mode in the same space.

Have to be fluid and flexible as well as willing to take loses from time to time in order to fit 10 years of experience into 5 years of practice.......

Organic way of doing things, constantly evolving

I really like the way that rolls... Nice!!!
Thanks for the positive vibes otis....:ying:

This would make so much sense..

My issues began once I placed the little ones in the new turface.
The F13 teens didnt show issue till I hit them with Eagle20 and then double down PH.. hummm....

So I did some Google searching...

Then finishes with,
at the time this pic was made i had been using it for seven years and had accumulated enough to fill two 8' in diameter by 16" deep kiddie pools.
I knew he had pools... hahaha... KP contest...

I have no idea...lol

Shit... Im supposed to stop smoking when mixing... Never would have thought of that... hummm...

IDK... My head hurts....lol

Seems like he says he treats CC yet then says it's inert.
Perhaps im miss reading and he is saying inert as far as PH.

Im not a brainiac by any definition so I get lost easily... What ?

Some other fun finds I need to read 10 more time as I think theres something here I should know...

Beyond Hydroponics: Improving procedures for studying rhizosphere effect on plant nutrition.

rhizosphere

Nutrient Management In Recirculating Hydroponic Culture

Well.... That was a fun...

Takes a few days for me to register some
things so Im going to have to chew on all this...

Yet as you said Mcfly.. ATP any issues with the turface having stored Nutrients should be resolved with the res changes and floods.

Yet...

I still have 200 LBS of CC waiting to be washed and used... :blowbubbles:

Thanks for the tip,Mcfly... Solid!!!:respect:

The pool water looks like a 7 to me AD but I am looking at it from a computer screen. Lol so every monitor is different with color settings. Lol

Now Is turface pretty much hydro? Because if it is would of ph of 7 be pretty bad for the plants? Thought hydro runs mid 5's?

That shit just seems like to much work for a stoner like me!

Promix/coco blend is in my future or maybe just coco if my expirementing plays out right with it.

See why I hit it with PH down..
Could be low 7s.

Now I'm afraid to do shit ...
I want to drop 4 tsp of ph down per pool, but...
I'm chicken. .lol

ATP it could be PH swing in full effect. ..IDK. ...

Good news though.
New growth showing up all over the place. .
:woohoo:

Well that's good you are seeing new growth. I feel your pain because to much of ph swing either way up or down I am almost certain will have a very negative effect on the plants. I think you are supposed to adjust it slowly. Good luck AD.
