Just was not feeling the LED for VEG...

Back to good o CFL's they go....

Pool 1 is getting cleaned out and changed over to the feed ring pool so I can Veg the F13s up for flowering....

Once I get them in a pool.
I will flip the clones in the VEG center to determine sex...

I have a nice little mix of 2700-3200-6800 CFLs....

:smoke out:

After running a few test im going to go with
a 4 minute flood cycle every 90 minutes...

This is more like 3 minutes from the
bottom of the pots to the highest level...

Then just over a minute for the water to go below the pots.

The pots are sitting directly on top the 2" bed of CC...

No CC between...

Some of the pots have roots coming
through the sides so it was time to
get them some air between them...
I want the root growing downwards, not sideways..

The wet CC bed should help keep
the humidity up around the plants as well...Nice...

Some of the plants and 2 of the clones are not looking great...
Thinking the PH is a touch high in pool one and the EC a little low.

This pool is
Mid 5's PH
Ec at 1.3 and im laying off the Silica
till they are a touch bigger.

Having MM~CS on board already
i think will do me good..

Ive also changed the way I mix my water.

5 gallon bucket in the shower...
Hot water thru the hand held shower head...
Add Jacks Hydro-Mix
Add MM~CS-Mix
Add Jacks Cal/N-Mix

1/4-1/3 of the buckets full of hot water by now.
Using the HH-Shower head on jet to mix...

I change over to cold water and add PH down....

By the time the buckets full.
Even the white stuff I've always
had at the bottom is dissolved.
Using tap water I let it sit a day before using it...

Just a touch of something in the
MM~CS floating on top the water...

Think that just about covers it for today... lol

Why ya messin with the pH? Cant you just ignore it like the rest of us

I tried to run without PH down this
season and things went south...
PH went 7s... Ouch...lol

Im using PH stripes to measure so it's close but not 100%.

Tried to hit 6ish and im seeing little signs and things here and there.

Now im trying 5ish and once I get
where I want as far as adding how
much of each thing to the bucket
I don't worry about it anymore...

Unless I see signs..lol

I only check the pools PH when I fill it the 1st time.
I check each bucket for a few times to make sure im getting
the same every time,then I tend to never check anything unless I have issue...

Which I wont... Grrr... :biggrin:

Guess you can say...

I am trying to find my mojo for this season,

Edit... Getting on the same train of thought....

I think I have found a good design for Per Veg to full blown VEG this this pool design.
Im going to try out the feed line design as well for Veg and see which works best.

When im ready for flowering, I will place 4 vegged up ladies into
a 4" bed of CC and veg 10 more days before flip.

So they will flower in straight CC with no pots.

There's more,but I'll leave it at that for now....
Well... Ill just add...

So come season 5, I would have:
Seeds popped and added to 1L pots placed into this pool design to
pre veg and full veg~~ Pool 1

Pools 2 and 3 would have 4 ladies each and I
could go 2 ladies at a time every
10-15 days for a perpetual type running...

At some point a Mom and pop pool would be nice but I can
use the center or Pool 1 for now...

~~~
You can see the high mark that takes 5 minutes to get to in the pictures above...
Any thoughts/input on my flooding times ?
Or any aspect of what im working on, for that matter...:biggrin:
Should I go for 5 minute floods ?
I believe if I add another 1" on CC bedding
I could get close to the pots rims in 3 minutes...
Downside would be the overall water level
would be damn close to over flow..
My understanding of true flooding being to
get the water over the top of the CC in the pots, right ?
Then again...
The pool has the wicks and air gap,not the pots...
Do I need the pots into the 2" bed of CC to be a PPK ?
I could push the pots to the bottom..
Hummm... IDK....
Flooding vs Feed line pulsing ?....
Both maybe...lol Hummm...
Would adding feed line ring with a 3rd pump to the flood pool
get er dun ?....
Things to think about,I guess.. :beat-dead
I just did a quick expirement myself not ph'ing my water for my little ones in coco and things look positive. My water ppms out at 30ppm ph is 6ish and my little ones are showing no ill effect from a straight tap water flush. I checked the ppm chart and my tap water falls under the Ro/distilled chart on a ppm meter. Now my flowering plants I have been running house&garden with ph up and down and my plants have been showing ill effects.
So after trying everything to correct the issues I am thinking that the ph up and down has to be the cause of my issues. I am gonna stop using it for the rest of the grow to see what happens. I also kinda cheated a little and went and bought sensi a&b bloom for coco with ph perfect. So if I try nutes without no ph buffers and things get off track really bad I'll just pull out the ph perfect sensi for coco.
I have a big feeling that coco in many ways is like soil and has a natural ph no matter what that all the ph buffers I was using was causing my issues with lockout. This is my first time in coco and first time using ph up and down. Since I have always been a promix grower I never ph'd anything and never had defiencys.
Now you have some people that swear by ph'ing in soil like if you don't u will wind up with tons of issues I beg to differ because I have grown in soil way before the Internet was around and I never even knew about ph'ing anything and my plants always came out fine with no lockouts. So it makes me wonder if all the ph buffers especially in general hydroponics ph up and down will actually cause you more issues than what it's worth not to ph. I'll soon find out anyone with EXPIERENCE please let me know your thought.
I just feel AD it would almost be better to just find natural ph buffers instead of chemicals ph up maybe silica blast I think? And ph down humic acid would be a better option or some other kinds of options. I'll have to explore.
Just my two cents about ph buffers and what I have been going through with this grow. Also I hand water don't have a Rez to mix my nutes in.
Life is grand you live and you learn! I have been growing for all together about 20 yrs I learn news things everyday. This site is a great place to have as a tool and pick the minds of others.
My mind has been racing with these lockouts in coco and I feel like I am beating a dead horse also AD. Lol. Then when I feel like giving up on coco another idea or though pops into my head of what might be causing my issues. I must say I have sat at night thinking what I could do the next day to turn this grow around. Went through all the hoops thinking ok ill foliar feed with epson salts and foliar with some food and nothing has turned my plants around. So after all my attempts I finally am just coming to the conclusion is ph up and down really worth it?
My head is spinning and racing right now. Lol because normally in soil I could do a whole grow and be lazy about it and not get one off colored leaf and never ph a damn thing. Then it just hit me when I flushed my plants the other day and flushed them about a week or so ago and my ph was still the same at runoff was this last time. So coco has to have a natural ph buffer in it?
My brain is heating up I am gonna stop typing and writing now. I'll keep ya posted on my results AD without ph'ing anything and how it works out.
Peace mike
I feel ya Mike...
I chased my tail for half of last season with PH and PPM checking every day and bla bla bla...lol
Then I burned out on it all and didn't check shit for months...
Everything came out fine without all the stressing little shit...
Most likely,
The only reason I'm seeing little issues is because
I've added things to my jacks....
If it ain't broke,ya know...
But...
At this point I feel I have learned enough to simply
grow some good weed and be happy with it....
Yet...
I want to grow great weed and be stoked with it....
So I play around with a little this and that....
Coco did me well and cant say that I had any big issues with it.
Though by the next wave I was adding this and that to it....
:whee:
No 2 wave's are the same around these parts....
Learn,change,learn,change,learn.....
I would have loved to skip the PH down but
that just didn't seem to be working, due to my tap water....
It will be interesting to see how your test turns out...
Keep up posted....:respect:
I'm not looking to chase ph or ec this season...
More looking to get my mix dialed and every
rocken and rollen on auto pilot...
I just feel AD it would almost be better to just find natural ph buffers instead of chemicals ph up maybe silica blast I think? And ph down humic acid would be a better option or some other kinds of options. I'll have to explore.
Were on the same page here... Solid advise... Thanks....
Hey AD those pics almost look like a cal/mag issue or bad ph drop I could be wrong. Or maybe just maybe ph up and down. Lol I am gonna go with the first bet cal/mag or ph fluctuations.
