Never mind... On my own, I fianlly found the answer to this my question!I have a question... And, it might sound a bit stupid to you guys. But, I'm brand new to using weed... althought I'm 49 years old! And, I just don't know! So, I have to ask!!
Before using the trims and discards from the plant to make butter, do I need to dry them or cure them?? Or, do I just use them fresh and green... right after they are trimmed? I know that there would be a definite and sizeable difference in volume used between say, an ounce of dried and an ounce of green.
Thanks in advance for any info!

hey all, how much bubble do you think should be used per stick of butter?
have 35 grams of great bubble hash, and would like to make a bunch of butter.

If you can do that, all I can say is YOU da man!!! Yesterday evening, I made some budder with some dried stuff and some green trimmings, leaves, and stems. I will NOT do that again!! I think it would have tasted alright if I had dried everything. But, that Martian looking stuff I got in the frig just don't suit my tastebuds!! It does it's job... but, I think I'd rather smoke Doberman or Billy Goat... !!!i think i'm going to scoop the crap of the surface and eat it before it sets!!!
Thanks for the info, HighTech! It would definately have been handy to know this before I made the butter. The original post says, "When the saucepan is empty carefully undo the elastic, pick up the cheesecloth from all four sides and squeeze all of the remaining butter out..." And, being somewhat of a stickler about following directions... especially when it's something new to me, I tried my best to squeeze all of the remaining butter out!I remember the original overgrow recipe sticky was different.
It specifically said don't squeeze the liquid out of the bud too hard, as the last 10% you get of the liquid will contain %90 bad taste, Maybe that will help inpain0013?.
It makes sense....

I don't suppose there is anything I can do to get rid of some of that shittty taste, is there?? If not, I'll just chalk it up to experience learned as to what NOT to do!!! The next time, I'll either dry it out first, smoke it green, grind it up and snort it, or take an enema with it. Any of those things has got to taste better than this butter does!!

If that is what I have to do to get the last bit of THC laced oil, I'll just have to throw it away. No kidding... when I tried the butter, it almost made me puke!! And, I don't think the collection container had anything to do with it. I used a very clean, clear, almost new tupperware container. Without exaggerating, the butter had an overpowering flavor of a combination of boiled, stained cauliflower, broccoli, brussel sprouts, mustard greens, and turnip greens... all of which had been allowed to age in the garden faaaaaaaaar too long before they were cooked! Like I said, it about made me puke!I think that's a waste of cannabutter. missing that last bit of THC laced oil will disappoint. maybe collect it in a different container!
As I said, I've already re-melted the butter and re-strained it through a coffee filter. Right now, it's in the refrigerator and about 85% set up. I just tasted it, and it tastes MUCH better!! I may still try your suggestion. But, I really hate to go through it all over again. Each additional time I re-strain it, I loose that much more butter... and THC!you can remelt the butter in new water at low temp and it will remove some of those impurities.
I know I won't loose any butter from re-melting it... no more than what the pan refuses to give up. The butter absorbed by the filter was what I was talking about. The suggestion to pour in the smallest shape possible and allowing the butter to touch as little of the filter as possible is a good idea. If I decide to re-melt again, I will do just that when I filter it. again!!you shouldnt lose any butter or thc from remelting the butter. Except for what is soaked up from your filter. I suggest using the T-shirt again or cheesecloth. I used it and it worked best. Try to place the cheesecloth stretched over a cup and pour the mix slowly in the smallest shape possible. the more butter that touches the filter the more loss!
