Can we discuss bubblegum?

All these stories... "bubblegum was not called bubblegum because of the flavor but because of how sticky it was" nahh not buying it. The real stuff, you couldn't name it differently even if you had a lot of creativity and a marketing machine and lots of money. It just screams BUBBLEGUM !!!
Still keeping my eyes and palate peeled for if I come across it again, I'm not letting it go again.

That is what makes the story all the more, ha, hazy, since people claim to get a bubblegum smell from his line (and others), but he has said many times his #3 BG cut was not bubblegummy smelling.

But, there is a long ago video of Adam saying the seeds were from the "bubblegum strain from Indiana" which lends to the notion it was a line that existed before THSeeds, and they picked up the name. He has mentioned many times he did not invent the name "Bubblegum".

Yeah I'm not saying the invented it either. I thought it was from way back and THSeeds were still today holding the cut or seeds and made more these days.
What a quest, that weed was around so much 20 years ago you didn't worry for it going missing any time.
Now, if only I had a cut! Or just a bud!

No.. Adam never claimed to have invented the name, or the strain... But yet, sometimes also does seem to claim such lol...

But does also say it wasn't a bubblegummy strain... But earlier said they were seeds from the Bubblegum strain line.. Which, we (I) would assume was named such not just because it was sticky, but because it actually can smell like bubblegum and make bubblegum smelling crosses.

Adam brought ~140+ seeds, kept 7 females and 3 males, all got stolen, and he was able to reveg Bubblegum #3 and that was the THSeeds featured clone.... What happened to the other clones then.... And other so many questions... Adam eventually lost his #3BG clone as well.. But had seeds (that he didnt use to reconstitute the line??)..

But also apparently got a cut back of Bubblegum.. But is it his #3 Gum from '93??

Likely not, just by looking as the leaves and buds of the clone given to him, and this clone is...

Well, a relative along the line.... Or, more, the "original" (will get to that)....

Since this cut Adam gets on his podcast doesn't look like his #3, it looks like like, well, what I know to be "the original" Bubble Gum cut...

Which doesn't as well look like the "Indiana cut", which is widely more circulated.. Nearly no one has the "Original Bubble Gum" cut, which is supposedly the original mother cut, made somewhere along the way (1971-2???) and is what Silverback was spreading around.

As someone else said, the Mosca cut is the "Indiana cut"..

Not apparently "the original" Bubble Gum cut, which supposedly was held (and grown) by Silverback, and this original cut is the primary basis for the Bubblegum strain line. Or at least, at some point in time (when? 70s? 80s? later?) became what people know as the Bubblegum strain line, from that area, as other breeders got seeds/clones of what is called Bubblegum and bred with those.

When these cuts all came around, we don't really know (can anyone use biological techniques, telomere measuring, etc, to tell the age of a clone???)..

Which came first, the '93 cut, the Indiana cut, the Original cut, does the '93 cut even exist anymore in the 2018s, and was it brought back to USA from Adam after being stolen, where people then made seeds of it and other Bubblegum lines?? And from there these other good cuts came from??

Was Silverback's Bubble Gum cut the original, and came BEFORE '93, or after '93, but still from the Bubblegum line, and not THSeeds BG seed stock? Or was it someone else's stock?

What about the Indiana BG, was it as well from the original Bubblegum seed line, or another BG line like THSeeds or BOG's, and when did it come about in the first place?

One thing's for sure, like someone else pointed out, the Bubblegum strain line LOVES calcium...

Wow Cannabiologist, thanks for that.
The questions! the questions!!

I for my part am only interested in the bubblegum that smells and even more so tastes like pink "bazooka joe" bubblegum. I recall it as an indica dominant strain of cannabis (or maybe it never even existed as an ibl and just as a cut that made the rounds), not too strong, with a blissfully relaxing effect.
Even though i can't seem to find the real deal anywhere, the name still seems to be a staple EVERYWHERE. Mmmhhh, Bubblegum! No dealer, no dispensary, no coffeeshop I ran into in Europe or the US was able to produce the original buds since the early 2000s for me...for the seedbanks, that might be the same a bit. The name sells, yet I have to wonder how many really have had direct access to the real deal (even if just a clone) for the breeding programs. Unfortunately, my private quest has only produced a lot of strong indicas that were all labelled bubblegum, but have nothing to do with the real deal. If it even still exists.
I'll keep searching and I'll let you all know if I ever come across it as I will definitely not be keeping it to myself, that's clear.
Damn my current grow is on autopilot and with the C19 situation unfolding here in EUrope and the travel bans, I'll have to look into an alternative solution for harvest as I won't be able to travel home soon enough for the plants to finish... but... one of the plants is a new BG lady ;-)

I said it in an earlier post, but I'll say it again here. I believe there IS a real bubblegum to be found. I say this because when I rand a 10 pack of Nirvana's Bubblicious, I had two plants that had the smell and taste, but weren't big enough yielders to keep around.
I just bought another 10 pack, and I'm trying it again, in addition to making some seed crosses with Bubblicious. I think eventually I will hit the lottery on a good bubblegum.
I' m from Indiana, so I have tasted what I think is REAL bubblegum, and it was everything people say it was.

So, all these speculations are well and good.. But...

Anyone have pictures of Silverback's Bubble Gum clone?

Or of Bubblegum plants from PRE 90s, ie. 70s and 80s?

I've seen Indiana gum. I've seen Adam Dunn's gum. There are pics out there, though hard to find.

Can't find any of these to compare... Come on someone's holding out on data

Mosca Indiana bubblegum

Mosca Indiana bubblegum

The Mosca Indiana bubblegum is front row on left and middle. They are at 6 weeks of flower and I'm stoked about the plants and buds. I'll let you know if they start to smell of any bubblegum or not around week 8 to 10.

well if it was being grown in the 70's what stuff was prominent then, that kind of reinforces the speculation of it containing colombian genetics, maybe a colombian afghan

Dear Happy, I'm so glad you asked the question about the beanpole on the right. I have two of those going, one topped and one not topped(that's the one you see on the right), It's sister is right behind it. They are Strawberry bubba kush by OGRascal. 7 to 10 year old seeds I kept in the freezer, had 4 left and got 2 monsters, the last real ones I have. This strain is bigger, frostier and the most impressive of all the other strains. I expect outstanding ganja. My close friend Slick even still talks about my previous strawberry bubba kush grow , he loved the ganja and so did everyone else. I have noticed some other breeder has a strain by the same name now , but it is not the OGRascal as breeder. I don't clone so these will be enjoyed and we will throw a funeral wake for this joy ride ending.

Nice, something about the look just caught my eye. If you were so inclined you could try to reveg after harvest. Either way I think that ending joy ride should be a good one!

not to get anyone who loves bubblegum blue balls, but at 8 1/2 weeks of flower I believe I smelled some bubblegum scent on Mosca's Indiana Bubble Gum S2s this morning. The fade is starting and I will take them to 9 1/2 weeks or a few days more. The dry and mason jar cure need to be done to verify, but that was a lovely scent to inhale this morning. I'll post up photos when I take the plants down before trimming.

Here are the two Mosca Indiana Bubble Gum S1s. I took them down at 9 1/2 weeks of flower. The larger one on the left has a definite bubble gum smell. The smaller one has more frost on the buds, not the smell yet. I will comment after a dry and mason jar cure in a month or so. I believe Mosca has the real deal here and I'm excited with the results. If you are looking for this strain give the seeds a grow.:peacock:

My Mosca Indiana bubblegum S1s are the real deal folks. I have the bubblegum smell on both plants after a week long hang dry. It should only improve with jar curing over the next month. I am thrilled as hell with the results. Nice sticky buds with the finger sizzors hash balls after trimming off the buds. I will reorder these fem seeds when they are available again.

Awesome BigAl, glad you found something you like. I haven’t ran mine yet but it’s tempting for sure. What size pots are those airpots? Looks like 2 gallon size? I’m thinking of popping the whole pack to do a pheno hunt but I only have a 3x3 with a 550rspec so I’m considering flowering them all out small, taking clones then keeping the winner for a run in a larger container.

Can you tell me the sets of your grow? Pot size, light, soil or coco, nutes, etc?

Have you done anymore runs with it? Are you still as happy with it as in this post above?? What’s the Hugh like after proper cure? Lots of questions I know.

TÍA!
