I've quit multiple times... no success. I try to motivate my mom to quit by saying I will to but even with chantix she can't. I know I can. I think I can.

today I think I had like... 3-4 cigs total. not counting the 3 before i went to bed between midnight and 7-8am.

I have a short that is 2 days old in my room. might smoke it. might throw it out.

I've been trying not to buy cigs, because when I do I chainsmoke. even when i quit I still accept cigs when they are offered to me and I still bum cigs.

:( wish I had never started

The gum or the patch or the lozenges or the sprays are all much safer and don't matter. Even if you need that for a long time it's ok.

from what i've heard on the radio the lozenges can give you a nice nicotine buzz... buy them from costco, cheapest there :)

I quit smoking cigs using an e-cig May 2011. I'm still using the e-cig using 12mg e-liquid. My lungs feel so much better but I wish I could kick the e-cig also because using it means I've still got the nicotine in my system. I tried going to the 0mg liquid but it doesn't provide the throat hit. The act of taking that drag is what is the hardest for me to over come.

The thing with the e-cig is that I don't smoke it like a regular cigarette. I just take an occasional drag from it and I'm good instead of sucking down an entire cigarette. About two months after quitting I tried smoking a regular cigarette and it gave me a buzz and made me nauseous. That's when I knew I was done with them. The smell of them even makes me a little sick now.

That's awesome Herbophile. I too was given the chance at e-cigs, they weren't really any success for me. I even started to wonder towards the end how realisticly the ones I had even worked, or if I was putting wasted vapor clouds into my lungs. (also bad) . I did refrain from buying more yesterday but I did bum 2 off the woman. So I have 2 cigs left, I'll keep posting, I know I can be a lucky one it's just gonna be the hardest thing in the world.

The first e-cig I tried wasn't much help to me either. It was a slim one that looks just like a cigarette that are normally sold at the smoke shops. After that I ordered a GO-GO off the net and it works so much better. Great throat hits so it feels just like smoking.

My sister tried the cigarette looking ones also and had no luck also. She just dropped it though and never tried again. They are certainly not for everyone though and I'm thankful that it's worked well for me.

Another point is a person has to want to and be ready to quit because the e-cigs don't deliver the nicotine as effectively as a cig.

Good luck with your quitting smoking adventure.

Brother Bog,great thread!!

The way I quit was: each time I wanted a cig,I smoked a joint ...before I knew it I had quit the tobacco. This is the truth. It has been15 years tobacco free, but I STILL get cravings.

i dont think i could handle that.. i become socially inept when I'm stoned.. ive quit for 5 weeks before having like a cig at coffee break then i was back on the train.. both my parents smoke and i live at home and that made it increadibly intense to quit but i eventually failed waking up in the morning to the smell of a cig wafting up the stairs..

i like how BOG says dont say your trying to quit and when i was trying (used in the past tense its valid) i would refer to it as quitting, as in being in the process of quitting, would never use the word try though.

that's actually where some people start

I am happy I don't smoke

never got into it, bought one pack to smoke in my life, made me green

I only smoked tobacco with hash

made me flush, hot in the face, nasty feeling

good luck to you all

I know you are all strong enough to quit if you really want to..

I quit smoking cigs when I went to one of those body exhibits, where they have all the dead people cut up and what not. Saw a clean lung and nicotine lung, and that did it for me.

I am only 25, was smoking two packs a day from 17-23. Finally feel like I did before I started. Sucks I am cant smoke buddha right now though, been gettig the itch to buy a pack.....self-control is good.

I've never smoked an un-pure J. I never understood the act of mixing in tobacco with cannabis.

hey man. thx for your answer. i guess its just the way of smoking over here ...

hope you dont mind a few questions. so you roll pure Js, with normal paper (like raw, ocb, smoking) and cardboard tips?

how much do you use for 1 J? must be 0,5g + to actually get the J filled nicely ...

does it burn evenly? arent you getting really high after smoking a J alone?

peace :)

I quit after taking chantix a little over three years ago. I used to smoke 2 packs a day and was starting to really feel it in my chest when I went hiking or paddling.

Quitting was the Best thing I have ever done! Everything smells and tastes better now, including our beloved plant. No more pressure in my chest and can hit a good uphill with little shortness of breath.

No matter how you do it I encourage everyone to at least try to quit. Before you know it you will not be able to stand the smell of cigs. I sometimes ask my friends who still smoke about wheter they like the taste or not, and generally the answer is no.

Think of it this way. Would you like to have a Marlboro flavored milkshake? No
They taste like shit, and make everything else taste like shit too.

Joints do help initially with the physical addiction of the act of smoking a cig. Plus if you roll a good joint you won't even think about a cig afterwards.

Good luck everyone

ellinho: Just roll as normal without the tobacco, just don't get it too tight and should burn fine as long as the herb has been dried/cured properly. If you're worried about getting too high just smoke half at a time, but in my experience a whole one helped me to "forget" the cigs

for anyone thinking of supplimenting the nicotine with something else(ie patches or lozenges) please remember that nicotine may well be the most destructive part out of everything,, it cause the sclerosis of arteries and heart disease that probably shortens more lives than cancer/s,,

its what people smoke for and its the worst part,,
