Can I Help U Free Yourself from Tobacco?

Im currently in the process of quitting smoking...smoked for about 8 years now (maybe more) about a pack a day...i think im doing a good job right now...

the only problem I face is the habbit...i mean i enjoyed smoking until i kept waking up an it was kinda hard to breath...but now i cant even finish a whole cigarette...but i get the urges to smoke one and about halfway thru my lungs start hurting again...maybe its because i was smoking on Newports like they were a Marlboro light but anyways im well on my way to quiting and its gonna do me worlds of good =D

after quitting about 15 years ago....tobacco for me is a thing that disgusts me to tell you the truth

the only smoke I like is smoking deliscious buds like amnesia haze and blueberry haze

compared to weed....tobacco has a horrible taste...imo

I am talking about regular cigarrete tobacco of course

Ok i'm gonna seriously try this peeps. I havent been smoking for much of my life anway, i'm 26 years old and only started smoking cigs when i was 21, quite why I did after all that time i'm really not sure, but either way it's time to end it. I have only smoked from pouches of golden virginia tobacco for the last year, it's not half as harsh on my throat but i'm starting to long for the days of not coughing up things that look like they came from the rear end of an animal. I have no more than about 4 rolly/cigs worth of tobacco left, I shall use that today and buy no more. Going back to smoking weed pure though is making me think i might find it a bit harsh, I don't like bongs/pipes so I guess i'll just have to get used to it again. I smoked weed pure long before I started smoking tobacco and it's only since then that I sometimes cough when smoking either, before that I never had issues. Here's wishing me luck over the coming cold-turkey moments.... No weed around to help me out either and mines not ready for another couple of weeks at least, so i'll probably turn into satan for a while....

Hello all,

It will be 6 years this December for me after 27 years of cigs. Quit cold turkey.

It is hard but not impossible. The first three weeks is the hardest.

What worked for me was the change in lifestyle with regard to cigs.

The first thing in the morning rather then have a cigerette I would go and play ball with my dog.

After meals....brushed my teeth (a great diversion anytime)

Stopped spending time with smokers (yeah, sounds mean but after a few days of no smoking you will know why you wont want to hang with them...they smell).

Watching tv and a sudden urge to have a smoke...get up and wash your face with cold water.

My point is replace the bad habits with better habits where possible.

Other times...it will shear will power.

Least for me anyway.

Good luck,

im happy i never got into smoking cigarettes...

just in the chillum

you guys think I can get addicted if I roast the tobacco ?

Well.......I'm 32, been smoking a pack a day or more since I was 18. I was laying in bed and I heard myself breathing...I am slim/average sized man. I quit cold turkey right then and there. It was hard and I had lots of withdrawals. I didn't understand how addicted I was to nicotine until I actually tried to quit. I haven't had a cig since Oct 26, 2009. I feel soooooooo great, when I wake up in the morning....i am ready to roll, lol. Hats off to all of us, and even if you dont get it right the first time keep trying. I dont know if this will help anyone, but whenever I had cravings or withdrawals, I think to myself "I can't come up with one good reason to smoke a cigarette" ....meaning, there is absolutely nothing that you can gain from smoking a cigarette, you only lose. In summation you would be an regular idiot to continue to smoke. Peace and Love. :smokeit:

I just found this thread...... I lost my uncle this day, he was a life long smoker as I have been. I am sure I am hyper emotional right now due to the loss of my uncle but it brought a tear to my eye to know that someone would take the time to help free others, people they have no connection to and without gain, from the addiction that is their certain demise. Just wanted to let you know B.O.G. that this thread is still out there kicking and helping people. I am looking forward to unlocking all those doors you speak of........Thank You!!!

i tried replacing weed for ciggies. smoking 40 joints in a day and you get nothing done LOL

hahaha i know exactly what you mean, so i bought myself a really nice small pipe and instead of smoking a joint I'll chew some gum and smoke a small bowl. Keeps me more productive throughout the day! haha

I am hopelessly addicted to cigs. I started smoking the day I lost my virginity. She said "WOW I need a cigarette" and I figured I did too. I have smoking and moving miles for vertical smiles ever since. That was sixteen years ago.

I considered Chantix but the vivid dreams thing creeps me out. I already have wild nightmares so I cant imagine adding fuel to that fire.

Any advice would help alot though.

Thanks BOG (wherever you are)

i'm 5 months w/o ciggs in 2 days!
from 2 packs a day to nothing overnight :D
it also helps it's $9-10 a pack in the NYC metro area.
it was like a fucking drug habit i couldnt afford w/o robbing and stealing.
but if i'm gonna rape and pillage to support a drug habit, i might as well get hooked on Vitamin H :D

P.S. fuck chantix!
all it did was make me sick to my gut every day. it didnt work for me.
only thing that worked was having kids and wanting to be w/ them for a long time :D

I still got my last pack of nonfiltered cigs hanging in a trap on the wall with stale 4 year old cigs in it. Willpower, the patch, and sweet cannabis leaf shake helped me be free. BOG told you the truth of it. For me it was hell for 3 months then got easier. Then years past. Half the time I have a nasuea experience when I smell them the rest of the time a little voice dares me to take a puff. I then remember what it was like laying down to sleep at night and hearing the small rasping wheeze in the back of my breathing. I think about after I quit how much better food started to taste, how much more enhanced my sense of smell became, or the greater energy level I started to have and tell myself NO!

My wife originally quit with me she lasted 2 months and started again while drunk at a bar on the eve of her mother's funeral. Her mother had passed away from cancer. To think Cannabis Sativa L. could have helped them both and millions like them but is not allowed makes me sad. Live your life. Make your choices. Live Free. I do not presume to tell you to stop doing anything as it is your life to live how you wish as long as it does limit my life or choices. When we all hit the dirt we should do it having lived our lives to the fullest we were able even if it was doing that thing that killed us.

One piece of advice- If you fall off the wagon- quit again. And again and repeat as necessary.
DON"T let one or more failed attempts at quitting be your excuse for not quitting again! Good luck, been there done that, and I'm so much happier being free of tobacco.
If our government truly cared about us, they'd de-criminalize cannabis and wipe tobacco off the face of the earth, imho.

I'm so tired of this bullshit, I'm quitting! I have 6 cigs left, and I bought that pack yesterday morning (amazing for me). Been smoking 10+ years and generally even though I'm not physically well or can afford it, been a pack + a day, after cutting down over time. I just can't afford it any longer, I'm tired of it. And my debilitating health really doesn't need anything else kicking it in the ass. Sadly I do not have my own herb supply yet, but I've gotten a new place and a friend gave me beans so I'm on my way. My only worry is if I don't have herb, but I bet if I tell this same friend he will give me enough till I have my own (which of course he knows i'll share with him). Wish me luck, this will NOT be easy. My fiancee smokes and we live together. I'm so done with this shit though really. I have never once tried to quit before, only cut back, because I knew I would never quit until I was ready. If I did it before I was ready, I felt it was a guarnteed fall back, I could be wrong. But like I said as I finish typing, 6 left in the pack, wish me luck!!!

ps. know this thread is old but other people have popped it plenty, ive just recently returned to icmag, love ya bog, great thread, I read the intial page 8 years ago, but it's TIME!!!

Wow....blast from the past
This thread inspired me to try and quit-managed for a while, but caved in the end.
I was cheeky enough to ask for sour bubble bx1 instead of lsd-and I got em..20 seeds, direct from the BOG-cave--I felt like shit for a while after I started smoking again-I felt like I was growing SB fraudulently.

you guys can do it!
i'm at a year and change, 1/23/11 was my re-born date.
still hack up a lil lung butter from time to time, but lungs are healthy like a young mans are :D
plus i have saved $6,480 since my quit date in cancer sticks.
plus smoking ciggs shrinks a man's prized possession, what other motivation do we really need?
