Yeah I'm not to sure how using the light verticaly will affect my yeild... we'll see I guess..:jump:

The temps on my 175w MH in that cab are super low with the cool tube... 26celsius right beside the glass.. plants can be super close.

I think I'm gonna spend my paypal cash on a bake-round and just make one up even though I can get my plants pretty close to my 400 watter as is. But the closer the better!!!!!!!!!

Your setup looks very interesting. I had to check out the bbc in your link and I like the way you have the c25 setup other than the light. I believe you should up that light to atleast a 250 or like what I run in my veg a dual 150 hps for maxium light. The dual 150 works awesome since the bulbs are medium base and since they don't generate much heat at all. I did have to get a large junction box to house the ballast but that was no problem for me already having electrical expierence. I can have my plants within inches of both lights and the cab is cooled with 2 high cfm 5 inch 120v fans. Looking great for your first attempt at hydro though. Keep us posted on your grow!!!!!!!!!!

Good point green, I feel that my yield in here will be disappointing due to this lighting, or lack thereof. I would like to incorporate a cool tube next time round, but I need a bigger fan as well. I might upgrade to a 600 and put my 400 in the C25. I personally feel that a 400 is overkill for a C25, but if thats where the plants have to grow, then it must be. Heres a question for you green, what would be an average yield under the 400 in your cab? (C13 right?)

Heres a pic from a little earlier, the screen is really helping even things out between the 2 tubs.

Another thought, I may use a longer tube with a 150 on each end. That way I could still adjust each side independently, but both could stay cool and get really close to my ladies!

Also, green, how do you have your 150s set up? Got any pics?

I'm in the process of pulling my first yield from the c13 right now and have about 5 weeks left by the looks of them. I don't really know what to expect since I'm not too familar with the strains but I guess we will have to wait and see. Here is a pic of the reflector I made for the 2 150 watt hps's I also use the top for cuttings since it gets to a near perfect temp inside the containers for roots to start flying.

The 150's are mounted on each end and the reflector is a trough like shape to keep all of the light were I want it. The ballast are mounted inside this large junction box one on each end and I also added a small pc fan to keep them running trouble free for years.

I'll take some fresh pics tonight when the lights come on to show the girls and more of the dual 150's.

schultz 20-20-20 with micro nutes and schultz 20-30-20 also with micro nutes is all I use and it seems to be good enough for me. I like to keep it simple and I've seen other growers have great outcomes using cheap widely available nutes rather than the mega taxed and expensive one. For soil I go 1 part expert gardener potting mix pre ferted with micro nutes 3 part scotts potting soil with phosphorus 2-3 part perlite and 1 tablespoon dolomite lime to each gallon of mix. I usually make each part a gallon so 5-6 tablespoons depending on how many parts perlite I put in. I've had good success so far and will continue to use this simple and easy mix that costs little to nothing. But to each his own so whatever works good for you is what works.

I think it is a common mistake to overfert. I use miracle grow moisture control potting mix ( not soil )that has coco husks in it. It has time release ferts and says no need to fert for first month and then you transplant and go another month with no ferts. This grow I fertilized once before transplanting and I am about to fertilze second time at 5 week flower with Miracle grow bloom. They look famished don't they?

But then again I don't do much to complicate my grow. No vented hood, no mylar, use the 400w hps the whole grow. Some people have this attitude that any job you have to give it your all. " Did you do your best?" My answer is "I didn't know my life depended on it. After all I save my best for things I want to do or that preserve my or my families life. No reason to knock yourself out over everything. I have to kick back ,smoke a fatty, and relax once in a while. Work smart. Make lists. Be organized. Minimize error. Conserve resources through efficiency. More time to kick back, smoke a fatty. This is a select group you have here. We are not stupid. I believe this style of growing is the BEST. Just growing for one's self and not for profit. Not everybody is doing it. No. Just the smartest and nicest folk around.
May your plants thrive and your grow go undetected.

also, i had a few questions:

for a beginner grower with a c13 setup and a 400w hps...im looking to scrog 6 plants in this cab and was wondering what a good strain to start with would be?

currently im interested in hemcy's big bud or paradise's sensi star - though if i can find a high-yielding blueberry strain i might decide to do that because i long for a euphoric, energetic high.

as always im interested in high yields, so if anyone can lead me in the right direction i would greatly appreciated it :)

6 plants scrogged in a c13 is too many. 4 would be a lot. you could probably fill a scrog sceen in a c13 with 1 or 2 plants.

I've got six plants running in my c13 wannabe and it's not scrog but its working out ok. There is no more room left but that fine with me. 1 Northern Light 2 sag mystery mix 1 aurora indica that is a little behind the rest and 2 bagseed plants that I've kept running since my first attempt growing.
