Cities that don't have their own marijuana laws on the books go by the state regulations. Perhaps seeking out a town to live in. Where I live the city has no additonal restrictions so I just make sure I follow the CA state requirements to the letter. If you're pretty much just growing for personal use, a small town without their own regulations may be an option.

update were still doing our numbers that we have been for 17 years now and we are fighting the good old fight still. they have proposed , amended and done all kinds of things but the people have stood spoke and signed the referendum that have ceased all the county supervisors actions the last 3 years. in 1 month we have a vote that will tell the whole story! STAND UP BUTTE Vote No on Measure A and Vote Yes on Measure B. If you want my advice go ahead and start looking around gonna be crystal clear in a quick second.

Anyone who is medical can grow 120sqft indoor if you own a home, it needs to be 15ft. from a neighbor.
The outdoor plots are based on the size of your property. Less than 1/2 acre is no outdoor herb, more than 1/2 and less than 5 acres = 50sqft, 5-10 acres = 100sqft, and more than 10 acres is 150sqft - 99 plant limit for everyone.
This is a MUCH better plan than was in place. The original plan was a drug dealers dream and literally fucked the common grower who had less than 5 acres of land.
I voted for measure A, against the wishes of the drug dealers. With measure A, I get 99 plants instead of 6. Fuck measure B, the drug dealers tried to fuck everyone so they can't grow their own. Wise up people..

i totally see where you are coming from about measure a being good for smaller properties and personal growers but 100-150 square feet is too small even for a personal garden!!! do you know if you can have multiple cards stacked or if its per parcel not per patient?

also, i read a clause saying that you need to be a butte county resident for at least a year to grow your own meds. do u think they will make you harvest the whole garden if you cant prove residency? i know they are just trying to keep people out that are coming up here for big profits but all these new ordinances are really making it hard to re-locate to a cheaper area then santa cruz!

It's per parcel, no more rec stacking per property in Butte. As a side note, I have no trouble helping buddies harvest 5-10lbs of high grade cannabis on 50sqft of outdoor land, we are talking 7ft-8ft monsters..
I have 100sqft of growing space outdoor (6ft x 16ft - wide area facing South) , 120sqft of growing space indoor, 99 plant limit, and I don't even use half of the indoor because I grow for medical reasons and not illegal drug sales. I have no trouble pulling more 20lbs. of high grade per year.
Total indoor costs run about $500-$800 annually and total outdoor costs run about $50. Who else would spend $850 for 20lbs of high grade? My wife also has a 215 rec. and we blow through a pound of highgrade every month without regard. I vape about 3-4 zips per week.. hahahaha...
anyway, the cowboys and yahoos should know, if they come to Butte county to break into houses and steal meds, expect to get shot because everyone here has guns for home protection.
If you are looking to get rich on selling cannabis, be careful, there are literally thousands of people like that and they might narc you out to the code officers if you grow too much or look like a shady and mean MF..

Pot growers kept the county thriving during tough economic time of 2008-2012. Everyone from land owners, real estate agents, hydro stores, soil farms, Home Depot, pge, blue collar laborers, right down to the teenage girl working the counter at Starbucks benefitted heavily from these "drug dealers".
