Budless' Mini-Grow Show

Hey folks!

I'm Budless. I caroused these forums religiously for the last few months. I have been sucking up knowledge right and left on every aspect of growing I can get my grimy paws on. This site is wonderful and it has helped me very, very much.

I previously attempted to grow a while back, but a bit of misplaced trust and poor choice(s) on my part lead to me having to destroy the grow. Despite that scare I am back and ready to start again! This time I want to finish!

I recently allocated a nice fat sack of seeds(+50) of supposed AK-47 from my friend. I also acquired a piece of furniture in order to grow in without raising much attention. Previously used two 50 gallon rubbermaid tubs as my grows space. They turned out being unwieldy and hard to hide. This is the alternative I was looking for.

The dimensions of the cab in inches : 40.5h x 16.5w x 15.5L

My lighting of choice are 6x26w Cool White CFLs for vegging

My current plant of choice: NRS Ak-48

Age : 2 weeks

Hey guys! Time for another update.

First to answer the question about the AK-47 seeds. I ordered from Seed Boutique a while back. This AK-48 was the last seed from that order. I planted that AK-48 before I went on vacation. While I was on vacation my buddy had a bunch of different buds for us to smoke that he got from a grow he knows. The only type that contained seeds were AK-47 and I collected them all for my own ends. That plant was about a week old when I got all those seeds and since then I just haven't bothered to throw them down. I think I'm going to work on some other bag seed before that though.

Alright I did a bit of renovation on my cab. I still need venting, a proper light attic, carbon scrubber, and a door.

I added some mylar walling to cover up that shitty black walling that absorbed all the light.

I only have 4/6 bulbs in there now. They are 26w CFLs on a bathroom light fixture modified to grow with!

Now time to see the plant in the spot light.

I found out today that it is exactly 2 weeks and 2 days old. It is starting to show nute burn, but that's my fault for trying to feed it twice in a week. I didn't think it would hurt it, but I was wrong. Now I will only feed once a week.

Edit:

Just to let anybody know I'm growing with:

Black Gold Organic Potting soil( 2 parts Soil : 1 part vermiculite : 1 part Perlight)

FoxFarm Grow Big Organic Nutrients(1 Tsp/Gallon)

Hopefully I wont be too long before I'm :joint: :joint: :joint:

And hopefully I'll get there without any :dueling: with my plant :p

Another update!

A few days ago I threw down some other seeds so I could start a second project. It either didn't occur to me or I had a solution to the resulting problem. Which happens to be why did I plant seedlings when I have a plant almost into 3 weeks of vegetating? I think I'll give the seedlings a week or two in the veg cycle and then throw them on 12/12 with my Ak-48 or I could build a veg chamber on the underside of the current platform the plants sit upon. Any who here are some pictures.

The Ak-48 is recovering from a bit of nutrient burn that occurred last week. I made the mistake of feeding twice within 3 days which happens to be a no-no. She's doing fine now. Very rapid growth on these plants! I love them because every time I come back they look different from when I left!

Here are my (bag)seedlings. I think these seedlings may be Sativa oriented because the seeds were much larger than the Indica dominant species I ordered from Seed Botique. If you guys have any clue if seed size has to do with the Sativa or Indica orientation of the plant please let me know. :p I Doubt any Sativa will do well in my cab, but guess we'll just have to wait and see.

And to answer any questions about the seedlings - Yes I did plant multiple in one cup. I planned to kill the late bloomers and just keep the plants that start first. It's sad, but it's also bag seed too!

My plant seems to have become sick in some form or fashion. The leave were losing green, drooping and what not. I decided to transplant the plant in hopes that a larger pot would give it room to grow. Sure enough when I shook the plant out of the cup I saw it was completely root bound. I hope the transplant helps. She is already perking back up.

Before

After

I have it under 2x42 watt CFLs and 2x23 watt CFLs. The plants stretched toward the more yellow/red bulbs and away from the blue bulbs so I figured I could go a head a replace a few of the blue bulbs with the yellow/red bulbs I had on hand for flowering.

Please ignore grammatical errors. I'm a bit blazed ATM.

Hey folks! I have an update that I'm more than happy to add.

My plants had been on 24/0 for the duration of their veg cycle. I don't know if that had anything to do with my sing Ak-48's health, but I can say that since I put it on 12/12 that grow has increased exponentially and the health problems of the veg cycle seem to be fading away. Take a look for yourself.

Before 12/12:

After 1 day of 12/12:

I think I can already see some of the sex organs showing. I'm not sure though. Some seem to look like stamens, but I also think I see carpels with pistils. I cannot seem to get a clear enough shot, so see if you guys can't make it out. I know it could be a hermie, but I'm hoping not. I suppose a week or so will tell me the sex.

Also here are two week old seedlings that I'm putting through 12/12 too. They're both bag seed so I don't care what happens to them. I'm curious to see how they act under 12/12 from seed.

I would love to hear any comments about my grow. Especially tips and tricks. So please leave a comment!

Thanks for reading and looking!

Update!

Hey folks! A few more pictures to add to the mix.

Night #3 on 12/12

I don't know what is causing this, but I'd love for somebody to help me out by telling me! I'd be more than grateful!

I'm still unsure of the sex. As I said before I thought I saw pistils coming of one structure on the plant, but I can't quite tell yet. Just have to wait a few more days and see.

I trashed those two bag-seed seedlings. They started to dry on me and I didn't care one way or another for them. I'd rather have AK-47 going instead.

Update!

Update!

Hey folks! I have another update for ya. Today when the light cycle came on I threw my baby under a screen. The screen is about 6 inches or so away from the light. I hope it's not too far right now.

I also made several improvements on my cab. I have a glass screen in between my lights and grow area. The light chamber and the grow chambers both have separate 4 inch fans pulling air through the cab and attic areas. Each area also has it's own intake with a built in light trap. I also made a CO2 generator out of sugar saturated water and yeast. I don't know if it will have any effect what so ever, but the ingredients were dirt cheap so I thought I'd give it a shot.

I was talking to a fellow grower on ICmag about my plant and he told me it looks like the plant is suffering from a few deficiency problems; which are Calcium(dead spots), Magnesium(purple branches, yellow leaves), and Phosphorous(purple branches). I'm going to try to add Dolomite Lime(1 tsp/gallon) to help with the later two. Not sure about the calcium.

Also I do not have a flowering fertilizer to use right now. All I have is FoxFarm Grow Big which I have been using for the last few weeks. I want to use it in heavy feedings, but I don't know if doing that will be detrimental to the plant during its flowering cycle. I hope not, because I think it would help out a lot with the nutrient problems due to the various micro nutrients that are contained in the fert. Currently I use 1 tsp/gallon, but I think I might try 2-3 tps/gallon for some heavy feeding sessions. If I do that I do not know what my feeding schedual should be, because I'm a complete newbie to all this. Any help in this area would be greatly appreciated. It will probably be two weeks before I am able to obtain FoxFarm Tiger Bloom or FoxFarm Big Bloom. I'm not sure which one to get if I cannot get both so any advice would be great.

Alright here are some pictures for your time :p

And one last thing. I popped 2xAk-47 seeds today and threw them into a soil bath. I hope they enjoy it! Anywho I'll keep the updates coming as best I can! Thanks for viewing!

Update!

Hey folks! I have an update on day 10 of flowering.

Because of a long hooplah which proved me to be a paranoid person my baby has been spending the last 4 days under my friends 400 watt HPS. She enjoyed it immensely and yes "she" is in fact a she. For my friend's trouble I gave him a clone and then took her back. I was wondering; what the latest date at which I can take a clone from a flowering mother?

Right now I cannot tell if she is still suffering from a deficiency or lock out. I gave her a heavy feeding before I left and my buddy gave her a light one yesterday which would lead me to believe lock out is the current problem. Right now I still do not have a flowering nute and I will probably not be able to buy one until next week.

Here are some pictures.

Here is a height comparison

A better macro plant shot

An attempted shot of some stamen, still haven't been able to get macro to do that. Stupid digi cam.

Current problems.

And another update! I'm pretty sure she is a she! I'm so stoked! Here are some pictures!

If you can verify please let me know ASAP! Again this is *going to be* my first grow all the way through so any advice or help is very welcome!

Thanks much!

Few more pictures!

Bud sites are starting to form! I'm not sure if the discoloration of the bud sites is normal or they are having a deficiency problem. It's up in the air now. It's probably the latter due to the sheer amount of nutes needed to upkeep production in all those areas. Any guess?

Hey man, the ak's are looking good. Have you tried feeding them some molasses? Alternate your feedings, one with nutes and one with water/molasses, I use 1 tbsp/liter.
I also give them a shot of epsom salt every two weeks @ 2 Tbsp in a gallon of water . My ak's looked the same as your's but have greened up nicely.

Good luck with your grow.

Here's a quick update.

Today I felt pretty pro-active. I woke up to study and brought my plant out for some morning sun that peeks through my window for about 2 or 3 hours. When some things change around the home I'll have her in the sun light as possible during the light period. I think it will help her bulk up a lot.

I finally had the time to get a hold of a larger pot, Epsom salt and molasses. I made a molasses solution @ 3.5 tb sp/1 gallon. I sprinkled less than 1/2 tb sp of Epsom salt around the surface of the soil then watered over it with some of the molasses solution. If I did everything correctly she should be perking up over the next few days! I'm really glad I went a head a did this. I was getting bummed by the rate at which her lower leaves were dying off. Now she can have what she needs to keep every leave she needs while pumping nutrients to her precious bud sites :p

Here are some pictures of her basking in the sun

Here is one of the 10 bud sites I counted on her today.

Thanks for the comments folks!

Lately I avoided putting her under the screen I had, but after looking over some SCRoG threads I changed my mind once more and put her back under. Here are some pictures.

Peace!

Thanks for watching untamed! I promise I'll make it a good show!

I pulled her out from under the screen today, which is probably a no-no. However she hasn't fully grown into the screen yet, so I really don't have a problem with it. She wasn't hard to put back after this either.

This is Day 15 of flowering. The molasses watering seemed to help a lot. Tomorrow she'll get a shot of Epsom Salt solution and perhaps some more nutrients. Shes starting to get stinky. I'm dreading when she becomes really stinky because I don't have a working carbon filter yet. I'll eventually get around to making one though. Enjoy the pictures!

PS. Today that a 'lost' order that I made from Seed Bay almost half a year ago is finally coming around! I ordered some Sweet Tooth a while back and it's being re-sent to me due to a miss hap on my part. So if you're interested stick around after the AK-48 and I will most definitely have a Sweet Tooth grow after this. Its Barney's Farm Seeds Sweet Tooth which I haven't seen hide nor tail of on this site, so it should be interesting! I'm pretty stoked!

Hey dude just checking out your grow, props so far shes looking good. I wouldnt take her in and out of the screen if I were you though, soon those (bud sites) will start fillin in and your plant is spread out wide , once theres buds the screen will hold them up. I also wouldnt give her anymore Grow Big if you cant get flowering nutes yet just plain h20 along with molassis every third watering. You want nutes high in Phosphorus and Potassium not Nitrogen for flowering.
I dont mean to sound like mr know it all but Ive just read your diary and I went through alot of your same problems in my first grow, just tryin ta help out bro! Im pullin up a chair cant wait to see those ladies fatten up !!!!
P.S. the yellowing around the bud sites is normal!! your all good.

Looking fine - bro!

I wouldn't worry about putting the screen back on. You've gotten the plant to spread and branch out nicely which is all the screen really does.

I can see that the Dolomite Lime really made a difference. It will give Ca and Mg and stabilize the pH. I'd be careful adding Epsom salts cause the salts will buildup and drop the pH down. You shouldn't need it with the D.Lime in the soil mix.
