Id put the HPS closer to your plants, they are going to strech alot if it's that far away! Soon they wont fit in your box lol!!!
I keep the 600 hps no more than a foot away to maximize light penetration, and avoid excessive stretching.

Hey here is a Day 5 update. I moved her closer to the light. She's now little less than a foot from the light. I have fans working double time. One of the fan and one on the ballast and so far so good! The light intensity is amazing, I can't wait until I get one of these for myself! Oh well here are some pics.

You can see where I tried to top this one a while back. Didn't work so well, but she recovered like a champ.

Thanks for your help Core. I really appreciate it. Right now I have a jug of feeding solution and a jug of molasses solution for alternation of watering. I hope the molasses doesn't mess up anything, but I doubt it will. It didn't seem to hurt it during my last grow.

Speaking of my last grow I was looking through an old photo stash containing pictures of my old plant. Let's just say I was astounded by the recovery of that plant from its crap veg state, but more so by what it produced in the end. In comparison shot this plant is like a professional boxer compared to my old plant which would have been something like a want-to-be boxer without arms. I only say this for reference and to let you know that the plant I have now will be that much better in terms of ... everything. So keep watching folks, there's more to come!

Hey everybody, I'm loving this HPS to death. The plant is looking very good except for a few burn spots on the top. In order to prevent it from occurring again I made make shift divider with a large piece of glass I had. She just got her second or third feeding recently! Her growth is rapid, I am noticing that bud sites have started to form and I'm seeing a lot of pistils!

Growth is looking strong right now! I had to make her hide in the dark all of yesterday due to a special occasions. So she stretched like a rubber band while in the dark. I was kind of pissed off, but I had no choice. I'm just glad she didn't stretch any further than she did. Other than that this is day 11 and she is looking good to me. Budsites are starting to fill and and she has quite the odor about her!

I gave her a bit more room to stretch her roots today. I pulled her out of the bucket and filled it up with a good amount of soil. I agitated her, put her back in, and then covered her up some. Now she has almost twice the room to use. I'm glad too, because she clearly root bound when I took her out roots and all. I have one bitch about the soil and it is that it has no perlite or vermiculite which makes it suck ass for retaining water and air. I will never, ever, ever, ever, ever again use soil without those two components in it. The water runs through the soil and it hardly stays, so I have to water the plant close to every 3 days. I'm hoping the extra growing room will help that. I also figured the extra growing room would net me a nice extra chunk of bud to go along with it

I am really hoping for the 4 zip, if not a little more! *crosses fingers*

I dont think its a bad thing to have your soil run off alot. Its better that way than it holding all the moisture. You can always add more water, but if you over water you cant take it out! I would always use soil with perilite in it my mix is 50/50 dirt perilite, seems to work great and helps for the flush at the end! Grow on bro im hoping for you to get your 4 zips!!!

Everything is going well right now. Though a predicament has come upon me as to what to do with this plant. My dear friend who is letting me barrow his 400 watt HPS will soon be needing it back. So its going back in my 240 watt CFL Box soon. She'll most likely be there until the end of flowering, but hey, no worries I bet I can still meet that 4 zip quota!

This plant is so damned healthy! I've been trimming the lower branches to keep popcorn buds from forming. I'm trying to get all the nutrients directed to the top colas of the plant. All the mass you see in the first picture is pretty high up the plant. I'm not being too liberal though, she'll have a few popcorn nugs. This plant will be some fine work when she's done. She'll wreak horribly towards the end of her run though, I'm still working on a fix for that one.

Man budless - that is a sad situation - you could get a used ballast / setup for reasonably small $$$, no way you could swing that? The contrast in intensity and effective distance, I would miss it.... But knowing you, you will yield max possible with your CFL setup.

I'd be getting a HPS as soon as possible. Can you rent the light from your friend for bud?

I think your plans to run a 38 day flowering are a bit short. My plants normally go 55 to 65 and I've had a couple go 85-95. All the weight is packed on in the end. High temps and stress will make them finish early.

Thanks for your kind words, Red. I probably will take a nice vacation after this grow session. I have to buckle down and put in some hard work for school. I can't let anything get in the way of that. I'll get an HPS upon my return. I think I've grown enough right now to easily start up whenever I want to. I have good genetics and the know-how to continue this when I have more time and a more secure environment.

The 38 day flower plan was a mistake. I wasn't doing the math right in my head that day. I plan to pull her to 55 days at most. At 50 I plan to give her a look and decide when to chop her. I'm hoping for a nice bounty from her. She's starting to pack on weight. Unfortunately she's losing fan leaves at the bottom areas. They're turning yellow, drying, curling and abscising from the branches. Any ideas?

and about the yellowing...could be 2 reasons realy....a lack of N or 2 much N....dotn know what you're case is though....i do see burd tips...

but notthing 'big' imo.....i do however could have a trick for that...but i dont know what nutes you use....i give up to the 3th or the 4th week vegnutes (canna) and then i change nutes for flowering...that did the trick...

ohw yea do you know what EC/PPM you are giving them?
