Budless' AK-48 Grow!

Whats crackin everybody? I'm Budless and this will be my second grow. This AK-48 is from a clone of a clone that was taken from my original AK-48 plant. It can be found in my old thread, but I'll just cut it short give you a picture.











Well now I am able to keep another plant for a while, so why not make it a sure female and for sure chronic plant at that? She destroyed me once and now that I have more grow knowledge and experience I will be able to make a monster out of this plant! I'm stoked and I hope you are too.

Right now I'm using the cab I used for my last grow. Its a make-shift entertainment/electronic cab. I don't care too much about the the quality as I made this entire thing with little more than hand tools and in a small room. It has proved its worth. In veg I am running 26 watt x 5 bulbs to put out 130 watts. During flowering I run 42 watt x 4 bulbs and 26 watt x 2 bulbs for a total of 220 watts. I may upgrade to more light during this run if I feel like it. We'll see.






And now for the lady of the hour!




She is pretty small now, but she just had her first dose of FoxFarm Giant Growth. I plan to veg her for a month and a half probably. I want to draw some mean numbers out of this one. I am going to try for 2 Oz this time. Last time I did an 1 & 1/2 Oz from this cab. So this is definitely do-able.

Update!

Well it has been just two days since I received my clone back. Luckily for me she was rooted when I got her so with some good light and some veg ferts she has taken off. The amazing speed of growth is why I love this plant so much. Anywho here are some pictures!






How long do you think I should veg her? I was thinking for around a month or so right now.

Also I'm unsure whether I want to top her and train her for SCROG or just let the main cola fill out and do it that way.

Hey! I'm back from a small vacation. The Ak-48 bulked up like crazy when I'm gone. I'm very happy with how rapidly she is growing, but I am unhappy with how much she seems to have stretched. However that was a problem with my first plant and we can see how well that plant turned out.

I topped the plant today and whenever I can get some more soil I'm going to transport her to a larger pot and set up the SCROG on it. After a week or two under that I'll probably throw her into flowering. I really have no clue how long she's been vegging, but she looks amazing. She already has pistils shooting out from budsites and she smells great! I will definitely be carrying her on in the form of clones.

I love this plant because she grows fast, she is a definite she, she smokes amazing and she smells like 30 different plants when growing. As far as I'm concerned on the micro level this is the plant to beat for me. I'll keep her around as long as possible as my staple crop. I have plenty of seeds that I'm not going to touch for a while so I can grow her. Hopefully when I have my very own secluded place I will then grow those seeds out. Until then its Ak-48 for me!

BTW This is only 8 days of growth from when I got her!

Final pot will most likely be a 10 inch pot filled to the brim. The cab's grow area size is 14x15x36 about.

Also Black Ra1n I heard about your misfortune with males. I hate to hear that. Maybe something can be done to change that. Maybe.

I give her about 2 to 3 weeks more veg. In about a week I'll have her rooting a big pot and getting situated for SCROG. Lastly I'll be taking clones of her then too. Expect to see some changes in the next two weeks.

I think so too Black Rain. Let me show you some comparison photos.

This photo was the day I put my first plant into veg. I think she was a little over a month old from seed. She had absolutely no nutrients up until that point and she was just hanging in there. She yielded me 1.5 Oz at the end of her run.



This is now. 11 days of veg from clone with nutrients through out the entire grow cycle. She'll probably be vegging for 2 more weeks. The big fan leaves are larger than my palm. Its amazing!



I'm hoping to pull 2 - 2.5 Oz from this grow. I'll be using 220-240 watts of CFLs and hopefully a full 48 day flowering period. Think I can do it? I think I can. Hell I'm optimistic enough to try to pull 3 off of her. At least its a figure to work towards

My girl is straight ballin now in her huge new pot. She is still in veg. Hopefully building up a nice strong root mass over the course of this week and maybe a little of next. I plan to throw her in flower soon. I tried making a screen for it it, but I messed up and it caused a lot of stress on the top of the plant. I took it off, but it left its mark on the main cola at the top. I'm actually kind of happy and I might start LSTing parts of her. I will probably tie down the lower branches. However the lowest two or three branches are bound to become clones.

Hello everyone. I jumped the gun, but not in a bad way. I decided to enter flowering last night. I figured the plant was large enough to go into flowering and I still have a bout 1 week to get two clones off of her. She'll be getting FoxFarm Tiger Bloom and Big Bloom throughout the flowering stage. Anyway this is day 1 of flowering.

Nice structure on those plants bud, sure to get some nice tops on those. You may need to spread them out a bit later on in flower with some bamboo to get em nice and fat. Great show man, they definitely came a long way. I now have 2, 48 females going, can't wait to try this smoke. Don't think I've ever had it before what's the taste and buzz like?

Black Ra1n, glad to hear you're in the game with some AK-48. The smoke is excellent. The smell of the plant is unlike any pot I've ever come across. To me its a nice, elegant musty smell that isn't as overpowering as skunk. The high is definitely the "one hit wonder" that it's described for. All I can say beyond that is it's powerful bud that has earned its keep with me.

I agree with your suggestion about spreading the tops out. I plan on using strings in conjunction with the side of the pot to tie various branches down and pull them into the light. Right now I'm just waiting on a bit of twine and for the first week flowering growth spurt.

Yeah, Core, I think you're right on the feeding issue. My problem was that I only had 1 jug of dechlorinated water and it already had ferts in it. I really didn't have anymore water or another container for water at the time. Also I wanted to used up the last bit of vegging nutrients I had. I'll skip a feeding or two and then start up with the flowering nutrients soon after.

Hey, hows it going folks? I hope you're doing well, because I know I am.

Between yesterday and the day before my plant is a few branches lighter. I gave up 4 branches as clones between those two days. No worries, the whole reason I have this plant now is because I gave up a clone to a close friend last time. Also for my trade I got some rooting hormone for my personal use whenever I feel the need. I'll definitely be keeping that around for use later.

After the clones were taken I found some string and went at it. Because I couldn't get the screen to sit right on top of the pot the string was the next best thing. Hell, I think using string for LST in the proper way is about the same as using a good screen. I'll prove it, if nothing else

These pics are pretty poor, I think it's my camera. I need to find a better setting to use for taking pictures.









I did not skip a feeding like you recommended Core. I did feed her a very light feeding of water and FoxFarm Big Bloom. Big Bloom is a very weak fert that contains a lot of micronutrients. I figured it wouldn't hurt the plant in the least to be fed with that. In a feeding or two I'll throw in some Tiger Bloom and you'll see her burst with growth.

Hi everybody! Just updating with day 4 of flowering. Lately these plants have been under 220 watt CFLs and they get an occasional 4 hours of sunlight a day. However I now have access to a 400 watt HPS for a short time. Given the window of opportunity is relatively small I'm going to make the best of the time I can with it. Hopefully you'll see her bulk up within the next week or so. Between the flowering nutrients and the 400 watt I think we're all in to see a damn fine plant come out of this grow!

Hey Budless you new run is looking great! Im stoked to see you skipped alot of problems from the last one. Experience is everything huh! I just read through your whole thread and the growth of that 48 with no hid is amazing!! Thats sweet you get a 400 if only for a couple days. Keep the light close as possible w/out burning of course. that 400 will induce crazy growth!! Major props bro. Grow on!!!!!

Great news guys! I am able to keep the HPS for about 3 more weeks! I'm so stoked! I just got it today and ran it for most of the day. Lets just say, HOLY HELL! I could literally see growth throughout the day. I'm going to have a field day just watching it! Hell even the light has a nice cozy, warm feeling to it. My only problem is that my timer doesn't work for it, so I'm letting my box run the morning and night shifts so the light timing is correct. The HPS gets to take over during the bulk of the day.

I bet I can pull at least 4 Oz off of her with the help of the HPS. Does anybody else think I can manage it? 400 watt HPS for 3 weeks and finish with 220 watt CFLs.

By the way I am now sold in HPS. When the proper time comes in investing in a 250 or a 400 like this one. Its completely worth it as far as I'm concerned. Hell the ballast is heavy enough to work out with. Kind of a 2 for 1 deal. HPS FTW!
