Six months on Blumats. They are probably the best thing added to my grow. I have never used C02, but I would like to see a challenge of Blumats in COCO V.S. C02 w/COCO. I have a feeling that blumats might be close or even. I have never seen such healthy and fast growing plants since using Blumats in COCO.

Talked to AFOM about putting circles of panda on his pots,(panda mulch,LOL)
This tends to keep the entire surface moist, allowing better , more even moisture distribution,and less hydrophobic tendencies than a dry, crusty surface.
He is reporting highly positive results.

Report is MANY LITTLE ROOTS erupting from the surface.

Trying this now. That has been an issue for me so far. Not that it seems like it's hurting the plants any, but it just doesn't seem good to have a quarter to a half of an inch of bone dry coco on top.
I had a thin layer of hydroton that I put on top (keeping them away from the carrot) to try to limit evaporation. I think panda will probably work better.

Hi, great thread here.
Im finally ready to pull the trigger on some Blumats.
Read this whole thread about six+ months ago, but have only skimmed the last 30+ pages. Just wanted to run some stuff by you guys before I order.
So the best thing to do is just get the sensors and 3mm tubing and just get the 1/2 tubing and barbs(from kent?). Is there anything else I need for connecting to my rez besides a bulkhead and some valves for the tube ends?
Also
which sensors do you get? I know before people were getting the 'patio' sets. I found this set of 50 'outdoor' sensors

Are these the ones to get? I need about 80 so any money I can save in buying bulk is good.

Needs on/off valve for each side at the res. This is a HUGE improvement!

Sorry if this has been asked before, I DID SEARCH, and found a few posts in here but not exactly what I was looking for. I'm looking to use these outdoors, now the Tropf bluemat, can you run those without a reservoir?? One the site from the first post, shows you just put them in water for 15min then just put them in the soil or what? I realize that doesn't help a ton outdoors, what I'm trying to do is run something without a reservoir outdoors, I see they have a bottle adapter, that plugs into the top of the tropf? that would be perfect really, is it really that simple?

The feed distributers look good as you could have one sensor in the middle close'ish to the Stem and multiple drippers say 4 around the edge...
any thoughts, views or opinions?

to get to the feed distributer page, when you click the link the page opens and the first tab of 4 is the tropf blumat
if you click this it opens a page with another set of highlighted RED tabs the 6th one along says Set-up 2 this is the page i was trying to show with the feed distributers...

I've used them on the last two runs. The up side is that they give you a much more uniform moisture content. The downside is that they are much more sensitive to plugging if you use any additives. Even a very low dose of CalMag will eventually cause problems. I have found that if I run just H&G Drip Clean and straight water, they work very well.
headees that link is misleading. the item pictured is the correct blumat, however the product description is for the blumat jr's which you DO NOT want.
