Blaze, with the extra veg time, do you find that your soil grows yield about the same as your DWC? Or is it a drastic difference?

thanks blaze, ill check out HD next time I'm there. I didnt know this mix was intended to get them through to flowering without feeding them anything....

im gonna start reading through the rest of the post now

edit: so the MG soil is for the nutes? I used that stuff at the beginning of my grow but I didnt know about the whole slow release nutes and burned the shit outta my plants. :bashhead:

This is the first full soil room I have ran in a while, However its been my experience that since I got a good handle on growing, I get simular GPW ratio's no matter what method I am using. But per plant dwc will outyield soil with same veg time extended veg with soil say 10-14 days, The yields could be simular per plant.

Yes the mix is intended to get you through from day 1- Harvest with plain water no added nutrients, The mg has nutrients in it yes, But its a combination of MG, Blood Meal, Bone Meal, And lime that supply the nutrients and buffers to keep them eating good and keep the ph stable. You shouldnt use MG alone it can be pretty hot and really burn the babies up.

hey blaze i think i remember you sayign that with this soild mix that you only have to use water for the whole grow? Maybe im mistaken but that would be for around 90-100 days right? (30-40 for veg and 50-60 for flower)

Im goign to have to try this if that true i just run ocean forest with some perlite and dolomite lime and i only get 1 to 1 1/2 months before the nutes are all used up and i have to start mixing the water with nutes.

Yes the whole grow, If you look this was a 40 day veg and 60 day flowering grow, The plants are currently at day like 82 total, 18 days left till they come down, as you can see they are just now starting to lighten up and begin to yellow off, By the time harvest comes around they will all be ripened and ready to harvest and I have used nothing but plain tap water from day 1 from rooted clones.

Cant wait for the final dry weight. I Like the nice clean setup.

Stop back in it wont be long now and the 1st round will be chopped and hung to dry :)

have you ever considered using green sand with your blood and bone meal? and what does your chronic smell/taste like?

No I have not considered adding green tea, I am very content with the performance of this mix and have no plans to add to or change it. I have only had one crop of chronic so far, I havent smoked very much of it however it taste kinda piney/skunky not the best but certainly not bad....

Hey blaze...
Nice setup as usual, I'm probably going to try running the same soil mix as you in a few weeks.

I just have one request, do you have any pics of the busted up rootball during transplant by any chance?

Ok as I promised I done some transplanting today and took some pictures of how I bust open the root balls and spread them out...

Here is a urkle clone which has become root bound in the cups, Using pro mix and water only from rooted clone.

Here is the urkle baby out of the cup. This baby is nice and ready...

Here is the same urkle baby as I busted open the root ball and prepaired for transplant...

Here's the roots all spread out along the top of the soil surface.

Now she is in her new pot and transplant was a success.

The freshly transplanted girls getting watered down :)

Now ready to go under the lights and get to growing...

I hope this illustrates how I bust open the root balls well enough for you guys, Overlook the mess I made mixing soil lol... Until next time be safe and take care!

Tell me what is the purpose of busting up the rootball? I thought that the purpose was to have a nice compact rootball. Im not bashing you for doing this, just wanting to learn something new. Grow looks great by the way! Will continue to watch this one.

The purpose in busting the rootball is to allow the roots to evenly spread through out the soil and media, This is key if you want proper penetration of the soil which leads to a nice healthy return....

Looking good dude. I had a question about Chronic, how long do you usually take it and whats the average yield on it?
