Canna is canna, it’s not missing anything. It’s meant to be applied to fertilized fast drain/dry soil with generous run off to waste.

If anybody wants to know how to grow better cannabis with canna I’ll give you the step by step. Remember it like yesterday. 5x5 sour diesel 4 plants 1000w hps and resulted with about 12-13os of dry/cured sour(not citrus) diesel as a first time grower that just got gifted some cuttings from a friend in Florida which died from a stab wound to the heart.

Person that taught me canna was an old friend I reconnected with in college, after they dodged life without parole. It was a decent living to grow small batches when it was common 400+ for some good indoor. They grew a BK/DC and it tested in the 30s, that was maybe like ‘08. I used their same method in 2012 for the sour(not citrus) diesel.

Quality soil blend of ocean forrest, peat moss, coco, perlite. watered with grow big, bio flores, molasses and pk13/14 that’s all the sauce you need for a quality smoke.

I'm on my sixth or seventh grow trying to dial it in so I would love a step by step. But before I waste your time, is it even possible to do using only RO Water, the full BioCanna line of nutrients (BioRhiz, Bio Veg, Bio Flores, Bio Boost) and the BioTerra Plus medium? That's all I've been doing.

Sorry I’m new. 2.5 gallon pots. Bioterra plus. Marshydro FC6500. I seem to be having the same issues every grow even when I switch up grow schedule or water every second, third, etc time instead of feeding every other time. This time has been feed every time which seems to have delayed these issues by a few weeks. In the end, I always end up with great buds but the plants never seem super happy. I’d love to see them super happy until the end and I refuse to give up. My garden is all vegan everything and I try to stay OMRI ( I know Bioboost doesn’t carry the label but I’ve heard Canna’s response to that and it’s still vegan which is what I care more about).

I’m open to any thoughts comments and concerns. I’ve tried using organik promix as well.

I wonder if I’m not letting them dry out enough between water/feed? I typically go by weight but I also don’t want the soil to totally dry out so it’s always a ? for me even after all these years.

These plants look hungry. try upping the feed

Great thread. Lots of things I’d forgotten despite more than 20 years using Canna.
I started growing my own in 2004. Grow shops were just beginning to pop up and I went with the grow shop guys recommended which was Canna. I used the hydro nutes and the Terra over the years and never had anything but great results.
I regard Cannazyme as invaluable. Without it, I would have lost mothers.
Currently got Nevilles Haze on Aqua Flores in Aero.

I love that you’re so committed to vegan and organic products! Maybe experiment with the watering schedule a bit

Your yellowing leaves is blatant magnesium deficiency!

This is exactly the same issue I had growing organic / vegan. The fact that when you feed more you get better results is what I found also.

Your plants need more magnesium under LEDs.. When I started using a quantum board, and later on - cobs, I always had the problem of my plants yellowing out too early. The key was magnesium..

Try Epsom salts, and don’t be light handed with it. There are also some good vegan calmag bottle nutes around. I’ve never had a problem since keeping the mag levels up

Hey, thanks for the question. I came here to actually update threads with my neglected plants and a bud shot when I saw the thread and the quote notifications.

you look like your doing pretty good I can tell you have a lot of self control because of your drainage set up. I say you should try to change only one thing and that is your container size to suit the maximum diameter of your drain trays.

Want to congratulate you on your success. You’re doing the easy way, keep it that way. Same routune you’ve established just larger containers cause I really wouldn't suggest changing anything. I’ll tell you an international fact, maybe it’s just my opinion, you know when someone grew proper canna. You taste the flower and it’s instantly something to smile about. I met an Italian kid when I was in Europe and he said that he was thinking about growing organic hydro. I told him about Canna and he smoked me out, he was growing organic hydro lol

Really? I'm at the max of the suggested feeding schedule now. I was thinking maybe they're were locked out because I was feeding every water.
Organic nutes in soil are very good at buffering. I’ve found I can max out the feed and only see minimal signs of over ferting (I’m currently using an organic molasses based grow & bloom bottle nutrient).

Magnesium is responsible for ‘carrying’ nutrition to the plant. Not only does it keep the medium from becoming over acidic, it also regulates uptake. Growing organic under LED will always see Mg deficiency unless you’ve already amended the soil or add Epsom salts / vegan plant based calmag. LED light a very intense and so the plant needs extra magnesium to utilise all of the of available nitrogen.

I had exactly the same looking leaves until I started amending..

P.s.
These organic vegan bottle nutrients do not have enough Mg in them! They are designed to be a middle path for all lighting and environments. If you want to get the most of them then start raising your Mg levels

Thank you! So you amend the soil in advance and not top dress? I have some Azomite I can use. I also have some Humik and a bunch of Gaia Green's plant based meals and minerals. The plants are always A-1 in veg and until two weeks into flower and it's like clockwork. I just always assumed it was a build up but I also always thought that even at the max they were pretty light. I've tried switching out the lights too. I was originally running Two 315w CMH and thought maybe I was burning them.

Thank you! For some reason I'm seeing all these replies out of order ha! To be honest with you, I feel like I am really close and that's what led me to dig a little deeper and eventually find this post. I originally did this exact same thing with General Organics line until I stopped using it. So my choices were to amend my own or find a similar line which led me to both those scenarios. I haven't tried the amended route yet because I can't seem to source Organic Soybean meal. It's like a unicorn in Canada. All kinds of people making organic soybean oil. But I can't find the meal that's been stamped organic. Without it, I have a decently solid amendment line up but it's pretty (really) light on the nitrogen side. I was growing in 5 gallon bags for a while but I found that when I was cleaning up and dumping the soil out into my outdoor garden, it was sort of a waste. So more trial runs led me to these size pots. I wish they were 3 gallon instead of 2.5. Like I said somewhere, even though they look like they're struggling, I still get 2-4 oz cured off each plant so I'm not complaining too much lol I just wish I could get magazine worthy plants AND flowers ;) I'll keep trying and report back when I have anything new to share! I appreciate you all taking the time to chime in!
