Best tropical vacation island w/ cannabis?

Im not trying to say Jamaica is not safe, or Columbia or Cambodia. I intend to visit each one of them and Bagdad included, when the war is over of course. I am sure good times are to be had and everything will be alright. Cool people tend to be able to travel anywhere they want with no problems I've learned, even without visiting resorts with 24/7 security. The murder capitol thing is just a statistic that maybe matters to some when choosing a vacation destination. What is good for you and me is not best for everyone. So I brought it up. I didn't make it up, google it.

One thing thats is my opinion and I stand by it is this.

I believe the cannabis that can be acquired in Hawaii will exceed the quality of any other tropical destination mentioned or unmentioned.(If I am wrong about that, show me)

oh and redrider youve got a nice backyard. I wish I had bannana trees overlooking a beautiful foggy valley for my back yard.

I went to Hawaii 1996 and we had the worst luck, there for 9 days and never found bud of any kind. Maybe it was the dry season when I was there.
In Cartagena it was not only easy to find and cheap but man it's Colombian GOLD, not the crappy export brick. It's the same fantastic Gold that I had in the 70s but better because its fresh and not man handled in transport. The smell and taste with that happy up yet relaxing high, it's hard to beat this all time classic. And guess what, in Colombia up to 20 grams is "legal". Yes in Colombia 20 grams of personal use cannabis is legal as well as small amouts of other drugs (mushrooms yum!).

I have been living in Colombia for the past 3 years, I speak very little spanish and never had a problem.

I may have been lucky while I was in Hawaii. I had friends there who were established and never had to search for herb. Maybe its not as easy as I implied to find the goods, I'm not sure. But if you are lucky enough to sample some fine Hawaiian, I can tell you, It is very special. the most unique and stunningly delicious pot I've ever come across. Orange in appearance and pungent fruit smell that leans toward pineapple. I swear I would laugh all night and fall asleep in the sand on a regular basis during those times.

Man, all this talk about Jamaican castles and columbian gold, renting an island and Maui Wowie.
I am feeling the wanderlust.

For totally unspoilt tropical island holidays check out Kavieng in Papua New Guinea.

I havent been there but have looked long and hard at it as a possibility. Almost went in July but went to Sri Lanka instead (highly recomended) Its a bit far from the states but I guess is a bit like what Fiji and that were before the tourists arived.

Colombian Gold, she won't knock you down, she picks you "up" and makes everything right. This weed makes you feel so good and her sweet taste makes you want to smoke more which is just fine because you just keep going up and up and up with a fantastic soaring tropical high. If you ever have a chance in your life time to enjoy this fine herb please do because she is one of the worlds best.

Not at all, its been years since I smoked any AG but the Colombian Gold in the pic was grown out by me in the Colombian highlands from seed that came from Santa Marta. I find the AG to be a lighter less intense high then the CG however I do like both.

Here's some pictures of drgreenthumb's acapulco which unfortunately has been discontinued. Its the real deal picked up in guererro just outside of acapulco in 1978. Like redrider said its definitely more mild than the black tuna gang santa marta gold but IMO its the most euphoric herb ever. And the high fades out gradually leaving you completely clean.

your best bet in CR that I know of is Jaco...just try and find a gringo that is in the know down there...the ticos will try and rip you off and sell you dirt...literally

But when you do score a good bag down there, its some of the better stuff I've smoked, light green w/ purple buds, super sticky cause its hard for anything to dry down there. The only downside is the price, which for the good stuff is taxed a good 20 bucks more than what you would pay for a "headies" quarter in the states

The AG I remember from about 26 years ago looked very much like the CG, very blond clumps with a few seeds but not many. It had a very nice sweet taste and the high was very euphoric, I can't think of any other weed that made us laugh so much. However where I lived in Texas at the time AG was RARE I only saw it twice, once just smoked some my friend had (78) and then a year later we got a hold of a QP. The stuff we got at the time that was said to be from guererro (guererro gold I think)was better then the normal brick but nothing like the AG.

Being that zihuatanejo and acapulco are both in guerrero there is a slight amount of confusion between the other guererran strains (most frequently guerreran green but I wouldn't be suprised at golds). Especially when you consider that little or no cannabis is grown actually in the city of acapulco. So probably acapulco gold is just from a lower area of guererro near acapulco as opposed to the more common guererran strains which were typically very similar and from the higher mountains. I'm glad you pointed out the similarity to columbian gold because I believe there's a possibilty that some enterprising smuggler (very possibly the famous george jung from the movie "blow" who was living in acapulco at the time and basing his smuggling op there) had imported some columbian and oaxacan varieties and techniques. The acapulco has small seeds very similar to the oaxaca gold or columbian but smaller than the fuerrero green. It grows into a diamond shape like the old columbians and not xmas shaped tree like oaxacan or guerreran. The flowers are gold after a cure moreso than I've seen in a columbian or oaxacan under the same conditions. I've seen pictures of drgreenthumb's oaxaca gold and guerrero green stock. Its a shame he hasn't released them. He traveled meeting growers in mexico and all over the world since 1974 and I trust his representations of authentic mexican landraces more than any other breeder out there.

Anyway sorry to get off topic. I strongly recommend ghana. It has lots of rastas like jamaica but much less violence the second highest frequency of cannabis users in the world (above 75%) very cheap pure sativa herb (much of the herb in jamaica and hawaii is hybridized) that is of old landrace genetics that need to be brought to the west and preserved. I recently read that much of the herb sold to tourists in hawaii is imported hydro from canada since prices are so high in hawaii. I'm planning a trip either to ghana or brazil in the next 3 months.

this thread really went where i was hoping. lots of good info here, thanks alot peeps. cartagena, columbia sounds pretty crunk. will definitely look into that. pretty easy for a white dude to score in cartagena without fear of being jipped? how's the city? i certainly don't plan on sitting by the ocean the whole time. i'd like to see that part of the country. does any of the terrain near cartagena get bad with guerillas or what not? being kidnapped is not on my list.

Cartagena is safe. No one gets kidnapped there, just like anywhere else you won't get ripped off on things if you don't let them. Weed is everywhere there and if one guy doesn't have what you want for the right price go to the next guy (waiting for his turn). It's very easy to score in Cartagena, you don't even have to worry about finding some really good Colombian sativa once your there. The city is very old and beautiful with many tours starting from there. Really if you have a chance go there, you will be very happy you did. PM me if you want more info.

O.K. I too enjoy a good sunset & a good spliff too, but some things to consider. Jamaica is a true Island in the sun, with a long history of weed cultivation. Ganja is part of the culture.


Our tourism which is based on segregating visitors from poor Jamaicans is unsustainable. Obviously, our tourism authorities do not yet appreciate this. In fact, Jamaican society founded on racism and based on a class-colour system is unsustainable, but most of our middle and upper classes have chosen not to appreciate this.

Sad fact is most places that serve tourists will serve them anything. You can buy a 15 year old girl or boy. Smoke,drink,eat anything at a cheap price.
Basically exploiting the local people. Don't leave the compound or you may be killed or robbed by the oppressed folks that happen to live there. I love Jamaica, but don't enjoy seeing dire poverty. It messes with my head.

I've visited some 30 countries. Smoked weed or hash in all of them. Marijuanna is all over the world. Even found it inside the Arctic Circle.
Still, I don't like places that have glaring economic injustice. I don't care how good the weed is,if the locals are oppressed by the rich tourist. I'm trying to be diplomatic and share a simple idea. Like I would share a good joint. See what I'm saying.
Amsterdam might be the best place for a smoking Holiday.
