best strains these days

anything from dj shorts, rez, chimera,reeferman, hill temple, serious or sensi would be a good start....there's so many good strains out there it's hard to say which is best, you want indica/sativa, fruity/skunky/diesel, short/long flower time, ect....there's almost a strain for every situation these days.

A lil bird told me that If you like a kickass fruity sativa with a short flowering time youd go with C-99...and you can get it from the GN collection

your book must be pretty lame if rez is a wanker in it. he and reeferman have the most interesting and overall best stuff coming out at the moment.
I'd look to OG bub (Hill Temple Collective) for his new Hill Temple Skunk IBL, or to his Sunshine IBL. I'd say Deep Chunk IBL too, but it's not realy too new, altho I think it's a must for any serious grower.
IMHO OG bub is one of the best breeders out right now. He focuses on a handful of quality genes and IBLs rather than banging out polyhybrids or 'hyped' crosses.
Besides Bub there's realy not to many newer companies putting out proper IBLs or even that many good F1s.
EDIT: Oh yeah, Bub's Powerhouse (DeepChunkxC99) is a great F1, a serious contender in yeild and potency.
Unfortunately no, Breeder Steve hasn't realy been active, and not many places carry his full line anymore. On of his strains that you may not have heard much about, Blockhead, is a great one if you haven't tried it yet. Unfortunately it's only avaliable at a couple places. A search on Blockhead here will get you some info.

A lot of Sweet Tooth... Shishkaberry, Blue Domino, Big Treat, California Dream, Tropical Treat, Jack Herer, Ortega, Strawberry, M39 - all hit with a Sweet Tooth. These male plants were put around the perimeter of the last Sweet Tooth garden specifically for a lovely Adventure Mix. If you are just looking for some new mothers and aren't as concerned with pedigree, you will find a wide variety of very original plants in here.
I agree with c99 I'm growing 2 types ... one from the gn and one from feamle seeds xline

Reeferman’s Love Potion #1, Willie Nelson and Kings Kross are all top notch. Legends Highend has that ‘elite’ Rene pheno. Anything from DJ Short is golden.
To comment on the ‘recycled genetics’ – Reeferman scours the planet in search of fresh landrace genetics. He personally collects these seeds to ensure the highest quality. Reeferman’s breeding stock is selected from his massive collection of landraces.
Another seed company is Koala. They are Australian based and have some hybrids with native landrace genetics. I haven’t grown anything from them but I am very intrigued.
There are people out there using ‘fresh’ genetics.

call me tight fisted ....but the thought of laying out one hundred or two hundred US dollars for only 10 or 15 seeds in my humble opinion is outrageous unless you are a big time bud producer or canna-enthusiast ..or is everyone just richer than me? ..probably!....and yeah, I realize that 90% of the price is due to the ambiguous position of seeds are in the eyes of the law and the potential risk that involves...but still!
...when you can buy 10 packets of Nirvana seeds for the same price!....the Nirvana Seed's Jack Herer (or is it Jock Horror?), for instance, is first class in every respect..and the AK48 aint bad either!
I think all seed makers should offer some of their crosses/new strains/F2's etc @ $US1.00 or $1.50 a seed.....if only for the poor bastards like me!

we on this site are hobby growers/ hobby breeders...and have fun w/ available genetics and friendly trades w/ other hobby breeders/growers.
this keeps us generally out of the criminal drug trade ...other than growing our own..and hording it to ourselves and sharing w/ peeps on here....and close friends and family.
if u wanna find a way to sell quality genes safely at ONE DOLLAR PER SEED than more power to ya.....I hope u sell 1 million seeds. (at least)...but i bet u end up in jail first.
