You may or may not get a lot of answers. But look for grow diaries of people using CO2, and find the ones using Daystars.
Many have sealed the glass using tape or some other sealant to keep the CO2 enriched air from being sucked out through the AC'd hood, and where the power cord comes out. But besides that there are no additional issues that I've heard of.
well it seems that the daystar is the best hood for smaller grow areas. the only problem i see is that you have to do a little work to seal it up properly when using CO2. thanks for the great thread guys really helped me out.
Best reflector would be the one that has 10 or 12 inch ducting with the anti-vibration adapter for the optional inline fan. Their inline fan has double eye bolts for ceiling mounts and a flange that mounts over the reflector. I wish I could remember that company.
vote-sun system 2 w/ 6inch- Compact and light, but they cost too much.
I've never heard of, or seen it, but I could only imagine the anti-vibration things to be similar to how a (sub)woofer speaker is designed. Am I close?
JUST found this thread..(been bzzzzzzzzy) just picked up a sun systems cool sun w/6" ducts...planning on just leaving the bulb end open and drawing from the room..already have the ducting etc mounted....NEVER used an aircooled light before...any helpful tips..etc?? Just moved up from 2 400's to a 1k ..had cooling issues with the 2 400's and am hoping the air cooled 1000w will be better..

I use a 485 cfm to cool my thousand watt MH in veg.I like the sun systems conbo's the best I have the 400/400 they have a 600/400 that I bet would be the best veg fixture in the world!
I own a bargan hood that has served well. I modified it for air cooling and it keeps it cool just fine but, that's not what I'm on about.
I expanded my planter box size from 2.5' X 5' to 4' x 4'
The result is plants grow better. Plants grow more buds quicker yet, my light doesn't seem to be enough to provide the light energy to support as much development I feel the plants can generate:
So here is where I seak advice.
I am thinking of three cool tubes. A twin 600 watt ballast and one 400 watt ballast.
I would place the 600's on the outside (HPS) and center the 400 ( MH ).
I have read that there is some concern that the tubes are too short to emit light well on the ends... Is that a correct reading of these posts in this thread?
I have seen a dual light cool tube...
My list of positive points are : will create energy to the ends of the room better than a single hood and by adding a MH will add a ballance of light that I have read grows plants better.
Will allow for more vertical space because the cool tube is just 6 inches and my hood is more!
The negative points : cool tubes are too short to reflect well on the duct ends for a 4 food deep space but are fine for the wide part.
First that appears to be an AC powered fan, not a typical DC "computer fan". It's really no different than a SunCourt inline duct booster fan. The 6" version (around 250cfm) was just enough to cool a 400w through a very short duct run, but I wouldn't recommend it for anything more.
