bdanks 2015 Oregon Outdoor Grows

I'm at similar latitude as you, and I had plants finishing as early as late August, to as late as first week of November. I definitely learned a lot. This late summer/fall was pretty mild, but my October/November finishers definitely saw a few bouts of heavy wind and rain.

Plant selection seems to be key. I had fat indicas (Bodhi Cherry Hashplant and Goji OG) finishing first week of October that got maybe 5-10% rot/mold, then I had sativas (KC Brains KC33 and Mango) harvested early November with maybe 1% rot/mold.

Going forward, it looks like PNW growing requires one or both of:
-hardy sativas with fluffy buds, in which case (it seems) an early harvest isn't necessary
-beat the rains (late September most years)

If you want early, look at Hybrids from Hell. Monk, Danish Gold, and Super07 finished by September 1 for me. Amnesia x Hashplant2 and Polish Demon finished early October, with minimal rot or mold.

Agreed, you seem to be right on point.

I have a few early varieties on deck that I might try next year. They are from high rise seeds and the strains are guerilla gold #3 and guerilla kush. The gg3 is suppose to finish around end of august and the gkush end of sept. I notice hybrids from hell also uses guerilla gold in its breeding stock. I heard it was a good one. I browse the early strain threads and actually have a browser page open of hfh at the moment... :)

The gg3 is a semi auto so I'm curious to see the quality of the bud. What was the quality of your bud on the Monk, Danish Gold, and Super07?

The sunshine is so much less in October around here.... I'm gonna try to stay clear of growing outdoor up north in that month.

Nice. Yep, the Danish Gold, S7, and Amnesia X HP2 all have GG in them (not sure if it's #3). Not sure if Monk does.

Potency and effect were great on all of them. Monk and Super07 are total opposites when it comes to bud structure. Monk is extremely open and fluffy, while S7 is dense and covered in resin. DG is somewhat fluffy. 90% of my smoke since harvest has been HFH stuff.

Any chance you have some pictures to share? I took my first shot at a semi auto with the killer kush fast version this year outdoors and I found the quality to be very good too. It could easily find itself at many local dispensaries in my opinion. I've had offers but its all head smoke :)

No one can tell it has ruderallis in it by look or smell. Auto flower breeding has come a long way in my opinion. I think breeders just use the ruderallis to bring down the flowering time. There are now dank auto/semi-auto varieties available.

So are you curing in jars then and trimming after a 2-3 month cure? I've got full jars uncured and thought maybe I screwed them up not cutting all the sugar leaf off before the cure. Smells real nice and no mold at all, has a chewy feel to it, not bone dry and crumbly. Very sticky.

After I hang dry it in a 62% humidity controlled room I destalk it and put it into unscented trash bags or contractor bags. That includes fan leaves and all. I monitor the bags with humidity gauges to keep them around 55-62% humidity.

I use to think the fan leaves would mess the smell of the bud up. The fan leaves protect the buds in the bag IMO and the smell appears unaffected. Some say its better.

Then I trim the bud as fast as I can get to it. Been trimming since October...lol....

I use to put all my weed in jars but this year I have about 50 kinds and I don't want to mess with that many jars! So this year I go from trash/contractor bags to zip lock bags. Been using the 1,2 gallon and smaller sizes.

My trick for curing in bags is once the bud is trimmed i put everything in the bags then into another air tight container like an igloo container or I'll put all the zip lock bags in a trash bag. It seems like single bags lose humidity over time. The double bag will help midigate that

i have also started to trim dry after many yrs of wet trimming.. i find the end product is superior this way and im not going back...
i do the same with bag in bag.. keeps it just right..
i now also tried putting bags in the freezer for 2-3 weeks.. it really works wonders...
need to get one of those big coffin freezers for the cellar and keep storing things there..
i think its the best curing method ever...

I was under the impression that once you freeze it you may as well just turn it into bho or something. Due to the little triches breaking off with the slightest disturbance. I'm not knocking your method, hey if it works then great. Just saying what I was able to find on storing trim. Thanks for sharing what works for you. I was hoping there was an alternative to purchasing multiple gallon jars.

As I understand it that only happens if you overdry it. Check often and you are good. I plan to try it out next harvest. Peace sdd

2,3,&5 gallon buckets fro Lowe's is what I use for storing large amounts. Just a thought. A boveda62 and a lid will keep it for long periods. I've also frozen cured bud and its as good once thawed as the day it went in. You just need a nice seal pin the container...or vac sealed bag

Right now I have about 10 food grade buckets with rubber seals. Got them free from bakery at grocery store. They work good with a boveda pack like you say, Otis. I'm trying out the refrigerator to store some prized nugs just to have a smell every now and then :)

I fucked up some bud thawing it out before by letting it stay wet too long. It all turned black and stunk like mold. When thawed properly it turned out just fine. I was tripping out on water curing bud last night...wtf....it turned out just fine too.

Here we go. At a secret garden last year I pheno hunted 20 mick Jaggers and mj#22 was the most intriguing pheno.. Mj#29 came in 2nd best.

Some shots of my strain Mick Jagger #22 (Casey Jones x Mickey Kush). This is honestly some of the better stuff I produced outdoors. Haven't lab tested it yet but it has all the right features.

Mj22 has rock hard buds, very frosty, smell on the high end. It stinks big time. Its easily up there on my list of stinkiest outdoor. It smells just like jack the ripper. Most of all it gets you stoned! It smokes like more of a sativa leaner. It doesn't get me as loaded as Obama kush but its close.

The downside is that it flowers kinda late for me to grow her again outdoor. But she had 0 bud rot so she might be the perfect strain...lol...pulled her at about Oct 3rd.

Lets have a look at some trimmed, dried, cured mj22:

The mickey x Obama seedlings are coming along nicely. They seem fairly uniform so far. I hope to have them sexed by march. Then hopefully they will be some nice sized bushes by may 15th :)

How many hours of light are you going to give them?

Right now they are getting 24 hours from 3 CFLs. I germinated them in those cups of soil. They have only been watered once since then. Next watering they will get some tea. They are in FFOF soil. What u up to?
