Sup Gooz, looking good there. It definitely looks like you'll be getting a better yield with this grow but I guess we'll just have to wait and see :)

Looking good man! Buds are starting to fatten up nicely =D - what size fan is that you've got on the floor there - a 7" honeywell? Is it noisy? I've got a 6inch clip on desk fan in my grow that's pretty weak, could do with an upgrade!

Cheers =)

OrgAeroMan thanks and nice to see you again. I'll be sure to post all my numbers up. I'm gonna try my hand at some QWISO with some of my trim, the rest to cannamilk.

greenpenguin! My first icmag friend! That first run of mine got me about 3 ounces with 1x250 which I'll just call a good start :), this run with 2x250s I'm hoping for at least 6 ounces, that's from seed and with only 4 of 16 sites filled but with longer veg, we'll see how it does with 16 clones for round 4, and hopefully with 16 consistent and strong clones for round 5. So nice to see you again, and update your sig already.

Hey EOL, thanks for stopping by here, the honeywell is pretty awesome, though I've got it at the lowest setting after seeing some other people's threads about keeping that upward airflow slow and steady. I think I've got that same fan as you in my bedroom, I bet it's plenty strong enough.

Dudesome, granted my buds are not huge, and I know I'll do better as I gather more experience, but as I look back at my pictures I notice that they don't do justice to what I'm looking at in the garden. These plants are looking pretty good!

Planned harvest was for day 60 but today is day 54 and I haven't seen an amber trichome anywhere. So maybe keep it going a little longer, I want to see these bitches fatten up yo. Word. To your mother.

I gave them there last full strength feeding on day 50, I've just been topping off the res with RO water each night to dilute, maybe I'll flush completely maybe not, I wonder how necessary it is with a zero-medium setup. Also I took the water pump off the timer and am going to let it run full-time from now on, I don't remember why I originally put it on a timer and now it doesn't make sense to me so fuck it. Right in the face. With a penis.

Thanks caligreen!

So here's the plan for harvest:

On Thursday, at 7am which is when lights go out, I'm going to unplug the lights and the water pump to let the girls dry out a bit and hang out in the dark. I read about other growers giving a little longer dark period before chop though I'm not sure why, I dunno, just gonna try it. And I like the idea of drying the plants a little before chop. Friday night I'll cut em down and trim through the night. All the super frosty Big Bud trim and popcorn will go in the freezer for making ISO after everything else finishes in the drying tub. I have a separate little drying tub on top of the garden shed for the buds, along with the Gooz trim (for cannamilk). I've got 4 big glass jars waiting, and I'm fantasizing that they won't be enough :) Over the weekend I'll take everything out of the shed for cleaning, reassemble, run with hot water and bleach for a bit, and then get these next round of clones in there asap. I've only begun seeing the odd amber trich here and there, I would let them go a little longer than this Friday but the next round of clones is ready to go and need more space pronto. In regards to the plants outside, they face north and don't usually get too much direct light, except now in summer when the sun arcs high enough to face them all morning, so they're not flowering like I thought they were. Also I don't like how visible they are, I think I'm gonna cut em up for clones. The one in the middle is the Big Bud and if it smokes as good as it looks then its definitely a keeper. Even if it doesn't its gonna have some serious bag appeal.

not trying to tell you what to do... but letting the plants dry out a little in hydro SUCKS. It makes cutting leaves off very annoying. You should still do it just to see what I mean...

Your plants ripen in the dark, let them go a few days youll see a noticeable difference in tric size especially. If you hang your plants with the fans on and let them dry a bit before you trim then you should let them dry out. Otherwise like like 1q said if thats not your style of trimming then dont let them dry.

Well thanks guys, I'm not one to ignore advice as I'm still new to this. But do please explain, why no good? And what about a prolonged dark period before chop, any benefit there? Thanks again!

Hi Gooz,

~48 hours of darkness before harvest is the amount of time I read about in wietforum.nl. Appearantly this kicks the plant a last time. I never read of hard proof that this is a fact.
The reaction is one of stress. An acceleration of development for a short amount of time.
Stressing the plant also is one of the factors to increase your yield. Just do it when it benefits the yield result. 48 hours of darkness before harvest is just one of those methods to do it.

..So I read! I never got to this level of growing yet. Just have nothing to compare the diffirence to... I Only ran 6 rounds...

Good luck harvesting on thursday!

Thanks Hushem, that's good info, and sorry Pyrosin I hadn't realized that I had asked about extended dark period right after you wrote about it, thanks for the info as well.

Friday came and went and no chop - they just didn't look ready. Two nights ago I went ahead and redid the res with just RO water for a proper flush, and today I unplugged the lights, I'm gonna chop them down tomorrow night.

Here's a shot from day 61

when I changed the res. Everything is noticeably fatter. The Big Bud really needed to be pruned, gonna make sure I do it next time, and I think I see some purples in the buds.

And here are some pictures from today. First a beautiful Big Bud that I will just gobble right up if harvest doesn't come soon enough:

Here's the biggest Gooz plant, this is not I repeat NOT the top cola :dance013:

Flower day 63 Harvest!

Flower day 63 Harvest!

Harvest time! :jump: Two nights ago I cut everything down and trimmed up the two smaller plants, and most of the big Gooz. Didn't get to trim last night, will finish tonight the rest of the biggest Gooz and the Big Bud. All the trimmed buds went into the drying tub, hanging off of that same poultry fencing with a 105cfm pulling air out. There were two clones that I had stuck in the shed during week 3, they grew into small frosty sticks that went into the freezer for a QWISO practice run.

The first two smaller pictures are the smallest plant, a Gooz, with some fat fucking buds all around. Actually there was very little popcorn from any of the Goozes, and that's with very little pruning and no training. The Big Bud is a different story. The last pic is a potential christmas card, its the biggest plant, also a Gooz. Dried numbers and pics coming soon... 6 ounces will feed me till next harvest, fingers crossed...

Harvest and extractions

Harvest and extractions

Finished chopping down the last plant, the Big Bud, and let me tell you, no big buds here, totally flarfy popcorn, and I inadvertently let it dry a little before trimming just like OneQ and Pyrosin warned about and it was in fact a bitch to trim. The Gooz trim became cannamilk, the Big Bud went in the freezer. I used half of it so far for ISO, super short first run yielded the most amazing stuff I've ever smoked, bubbled and melted and was so fucking smooth, I did a longer second run of the same material, about a minute, its drying now, very green. Most of the buds went into the drying tub, some sat on the cable box for a few hours to dry and then were thoroughly enjoyed, and some of the smaller Big Bud buds are currently water curing. The water in there btw turned an icky brown within an hour, I'm excited to see how smooth it smokes.

I like to dry my plants out as much as I can before harvest, I used to go a bit too far and have to water them again because the leaves were dehydrated and floppy, total nightmare to trim that mess.

Diggdugg, thanks, I wish you luck on your next run.

Eol, thanks I'm super excited.

875, I love variety. I'm trying to recreate Depp's drug briefcase from Fear and Loathing with cannabis preparations! Also, there's a great thread about water curing around here somewhere, the idea is to leach out all the nasties from the buds with good clean water, I'm using reverse osmosis water, I'll change it out everyday for about a week and then dry for some clean smooth smoke, albeit flavorless. This is my understanding of it anyway.

Hushem, I haven't weighed anything yet, I'll weigh the buds from the drying tub and the water cured buds, I'm estimating another 5 grams of buds that I quick-dried and smoked, to be added to the dried total in a few days.

HGO yeah its the floppiness that killed me, I don't understand why someone would choose to trim this way. Please tell me, why dry first if it makes the leaves droop?

Just finished the second wash of this trim, hash came out amber in color with the same texture as before, really not what I expected but its been kicking my ass all night.
