But the star of the Sholgar show is #4, a big strong male -

Rustam Kush are doing very well too. They have handled the two month drought the best of all. Don’t have any confirmed males yet, # 2, 3 and 5 are confirmed females and pretty sure #4 is a girl as well, so holding out hope for #1. They are showing some good late stretch and are catching up height-wise to the Sholgar and Waziri repros. Interesting that Sholgar 1 and Rustam Kush 3 are both short thick red stemmed girls that showed sex early on, hoping for some early finishers to avoid the soggy and foggy falls we now get at 42N.

Thanks for the info. Botrytis can be a challenge here with the usually wet fall season, although I have to say the Sholgar I have going are doing well against PM. So I’ll be extra watchful during flower. My biggest plant of the four now in the ground by far is a male, over 6 feet and quite wide too. The other male - that I’ve already topped to collect pollen - was close to 6 feet and quite columnar in structure. The two females are dissimilar as well - one is short and stout, and the other taller and more rangy (although I screwed up and topped her by mistake the other day when I intended to top the male and wasn’t paying attention).
Of course. Your garden is a personal hashish inspiration @p59teitel I wish you bountiful bouquets friend.

Figured I’d post an update as it’s been a while. Plants all are craving nutrients much more now than they were a month ago, so top-dressed with some cow manure and worm castings a week ago and they responded well. Will hit them once more next week if the branch ends start getting light in color again.

The two Sholgar girls were the quickest of all to jump into flower, starting about ten days ago. It would be nice if they could finish early in October, but we shall see -

The Rustam Kush females have quite the range of phenotypes, from tall and lanky plants that will probably exceed 8 feet to one that is short and wider than she is tall. The last two pics show the last plant that is the furthest along into flowering - clearly way behind the Sholgar. Stem rubs are giving off a very sweet refined floral scent that is unlike both Balkhi and Sholgar -

Flowering update: the two Sholgar females are the fastest in my garden to flower. I think they should finish by the middle of October at the latest, which would mean much less effort fighting off the damp weather we get every fall at exactly the wrong time here on the SE Massachusetts coast at 42N. Sholgar 3, the one I mistakenly topped, already is resinous, sticky and has floral and melon scents -

The Rustam Kush are at least three weeks behind the Sholgar and are just now adding hairs at the flower sites. They are vigorous plants with a wide range of phenos, from one short and stocky plant that has thrown off long heavy side branches to tall and rangy with a Christmas tree shape.

I’m hoping they do finish quickly.

Haven’t chopped yet! With the two Sholgar I am waiting for some amber trichomes to show up while I fight botrytis (botrytis is unavoidable here at 42N right on the coasti, but manageable using peroxide and bacterial sprays - and patience lol). Thinking maybe a week to go?

Here are some pics of Sholgar 3 from this morning during the daily inspection. This one is the most susceptible to rot so far; I’ll update the other Sholgar and the four Rustam Kush plants with pics today as I inspect them -

Quite resinous

As you can see it has decent bract size, bract to leaf ratio is on par with typical Balkh province hashplants -

I have smoked speed-dried samples saved from earlier rot cuts (I put the saved flower into onion bags with a small humidifier in my linen closet; not the smoothest cure lol). Nice effects, calming while not too stifling for day use - although that might change if I make it to amber trichomes before chopping.

Or when it comes to harvest, the plant could be making the decision for me. This pic doesn’t show rot, it’s just the natural aging of the plant -

One more pic before I head over to her sister. When I’m done inspection every plant is getting a bacterial anti-botrytis and powdery mildew spray - it’s sunny, breezy and dry out so a good day to do it -

Thanks for the update @p59teitel ! It seems that you’re undergoing the same battle with botrytis that I did. I experienced around 10-15% total plant loss (without any foliar interventions).

It is my thoughts that these ‘landrace’ genetics just need to be exposed to our strains of Botrytis and with selective breeding under these conditions will produce a more resistant offspring.

The seed increase I did last year is being ran by a friend of mine this year in the same state; not a single spot of Botrytis this generation.

Hope for the future :)

The Sholgar is to the right, next to a pure Sativa strain I created using a @vermontman Mountain Gold (Oaxacan x Hawaiian Sativa) female and a Oldtimer Haze male from @dubi . The Sholgar is around 3.5 - 4 feet tall in this picture - while the Sativa is around 9-10 feet.

More update: here is Sholgar 1, close to the finish but just not seeing any amber trichs yet although 95% are cloudy. Nice plant, 6’3” tall, only mildly susceptible to rot. Really looking forward to this strain for both flower and hash; smoke samples from cutting rot margins have produced a potent buzz that is calming but with an uplifting effect too. Not quite as narcotic as Balkhi. Smoke is relatively tasty even with a piss-poor two day rapid drying out via mini-dehumidifier in confined space, after being doused in straight 3% peroxide -

The four Rustam Kush girls have a lot of variety. #2 is just shy of 10’ and was fully green just a month ago. Now she has turned purple -

She also started out with white stigma, then started producing pink ones that looked like this two weeks ago -
