Hahah glad you enjoyed it mate, it's even crazier today since everythings bushed out again after the trim. We're going to wait a bit til a final trim or lollipop so we don't stress the plants too much.

And hard out haha that stump serves many purposes, a sit down and reflect or stand on it any take photos ;)

I can't recommend a product called Beat A Bug high enough, available from Bunnings in a spray bottle, it kept the pests at bay for my outdoor crop last year, it's totally natural using chili and garlic.

Thanks Frosty that sounds like what budsnblunts was talking bout, good to know the brand. Looks like they come in 750ml spray bottles - I wonder how many you'd need to do our crop lol. We'll start with the neem and see how we go

It's really only good for spot spraying and using during flower due to the price per quantity. For larger scale i use rose spray.

I'd recommend not using neem in flower. Apart from being systemic, it damages the flowers. I used to sell hundreds of litres of the stuff.
If the infestation isn't too bad, an effective way to get rid of them is metho on a cotton bud, and dabbed on the mealy bug.
After working in the nursery trade for a few years, and being responsible for pest and disease management, I now no longer spray any pesticide or fungicide. The natural predators in my grow are thriving - parasitic wasps, mantis, assassin bugs - and have less problems overall.

Hope this helps?

Pahut, hopefully you don't have any pollination there. Keep a keen eye out for hermies. A few of those red hairs on the first picture look a tiny bit suspect to me, maybe someone else can confirm. If they go full dead or fall out, that can be a sign of trouble. Hopefully it is me just me being paranoid, but keep an eye out in a big garden for balls. The can make your life a misery.

Thanks for the info luvaduck, ideally we would have done it a while back but the neem only just arrived so we went ahead and did it. Most plants aren't flowering too hard yet so am hoping it doesn't damage buds or affect taste.

Hey Pumpkin mate, am hoping no pollination either! We pulled a hermy just last week, went to balls over night but the plants that were around it seem okay. Am inspecting each plant daily as often as possible.
What is your experience with plants that have pink hairs like that?

Pink hairs are fine, it's just the strain. Looks pretty damn cool though :)

It's the dead hairs you have to watch out for. If you see hairs suddenly go brown, or fall out. Or go darker, more sudden than regular natural browning. In your first picture there are a couple of brown hairs from tip to root. If they are not prefowers, that would concern me. A few seeds is okay, but it can go from a few seeds to shit tons quite quickly.

If you pull off a single bud that looks suspicious, you can open him up. If the hair is still white inside that bud, normally this would be a sign to me that it is okay and just natural browning.

I'm really no expert when it comes to seeds and polination though. I try not to make seeds in general. So my experience is limited.

Keep vigilant anyway :)

Finally a bit of an update. Things got pretty scorched here, but not a total loss (yet).

Had to pull a lot of dead plants and cut a lot back. Plenty of heat damage and limb damage. Had no water for ages and still on limited water.

The worst thing, funnily enough, has been the smoke. These plants have not seen direct sunlight for 5 weeks. They are slow to flower, and now it is pouring down rain.

I thought this was going to be a good year, but it's turned into a right pain. Think these photos are 9th jan and one 1st feb (our one day of sunlight). Will update again when the rain passes.

Next year will be flawless. Next year. Got loads more light as a plus :D

Just went round the garden and you're totally right Pumpkin - gotta be vigilant! Pulled 2 plants that were looking suspect. And you were right about the brown hairs in that pic - good spotting. On closer inspection there are some swollen callyxs that are solid with a seed inside.

Now my question is, if the buds themselves are okay could this just be a strain trait where just the callyxs get swollen and seed, while the bud remains okay, or is it looking likely that it's pollinated and i'll have to pull it? Plants near it are okay at the mo. Will get some pics later.

Unless it pollinated itself you do not have to pull it. A few seeds is not the end of the world. Anything with male parts you will probably want to pull though.

It's only pollen that can create seed, it's not a trait of the strain. If you have seed, there is something creating pollen in your garden.

It can be almost impossible to keep pollen away in a garden that has plants going Hermi. So best of luck if you are seeing hermies pop out. You can expect 50 percent of that seed stock to throw hermie traits, if that seed stock was made with a hermaphrodite. So it can be fighting odds.

Hopefully just an odd plant threw some balls and it will be fine. It's very hard to tell unless you are on the ground, and even then it can be hard to tell.

But yeah, pull plants with male parts. If you see something that looks polinated, the cause of that could be very close by.

Take some photos of what you are pulling out also. Don't want you panicked and pulling shit on my account when I can't actually see what is going on for you :)
