Apollo 11 and other Genius Hybrids

True about Mr. Soul's various stories.

As I recall, Bodhi stopped producing Apollo 11 crosses and using the Genius clone out of respect for Mr. Soul upon his announcement of his return - but before he released his new seeds.

Mr. Soul's first release of seeds after his comeback, in my opinion, produced Cinderella 99 seeds that were not producing plants as good as the original seeds produced at the turn of the century (having grown a verified original clone of C99 during that period of time and read everything about C99 posted to Cannabis World back then and since).

Which brings me to Apollo 11. There seems to be less Apollo 11 grows from the new seeds than there are of C99. I never grew her back in the day and wasn't as interested in following Apollo 11 as I was C99 - so, I don't know the original Apollo 11 to make a comparison with the newer release.

In my opinion, Mr. Soul's credibility concerning Apollo 11 or any of the newer seeds produced by Brothers Grimm is negatively effected by what I know about the original C99, what he's produced since and what he's said about it. But, that doesn't mean the new Apollo 11 isn't as impressive as the original seeds were - I'm just not in the position to know - yet, I've wondered about this since 2017.

Hopefully someone who has grown the old Apollo 11 and the new Apollo 11 will find this thread so we can see if it's the same story with Apollo 11 as it was with C99. If it's the same story with Apollo 11 - I think Bodhi should re-consider Carpet cleaning blackpool his moratorium on producing seeds with Apollo 11 or the Genius clone (and perhaps let a few of those Genius clones out to some of us too).
So it seems like either the original Joey AK didn’t have this problem and the newer ones do, or there might be something else going on here.

nice guy

for me..

his c99 was not better or worse than the original c99 which was excellent the first joint..
[the original c99 cw seeds]
then it wasn’t..c99 does make some nice crosses

I have grown a few A 11’s they had the the right high for me just not enough of it

by far the best "Apollo "for me was ONE hermi ..dutchflowers Atrip

tried to”breed "hermi out of fit buts it did not end up the same special plant

should have shut up and cloned the first "Paprika”pheno I got and put up with pollen

it was exhilarating and exceptional and gave me a cold sweat on my forehead

woulda shoulda

I have both Apollo 11 and Apollo 13. The Apollo 11 say's "genius Pheno". The Apollo 13 Is from Mota

Whats the difference of the two ?

I love to pollen chuck... :good:

I believe:

Apollo 11 is (C99 x Genius)

Apollo 13 is (P75 x Genius)

Someone correct me if I'm wrong

If your Apollo 11 is from Bodhi then he worked a Genius leaning pheno if it for his seed line. I'm not sure what Mota worked with for his Apollo 13 line tho

I had Bodhi's Genius clone via PJ and I had Bros Grimm Genius clone direct from Sly.

They were nothing alike.

I grew both clones at different times for at least 2 years. BG clone from 1999 -2001 and Bodhi clone from 2019 - 2021.

I still have a bunch of Bohdi Genius clone x Cherry Tart (LED seeds)

Interesting - how do you think they differed?

Structure and and final product.

I can only be 99% sure the Bodhi cut was the real deal.

However I was friends with Sly and had access to the complete line of BG's parental stock with the exception of princess. He sent me cuts of their white widow, MTF, Genius, DTH and a few others.

Not sure how usable this forum is going to be if every comment needs to await moderation

Hmmm - could be a different cut - but, could also be within the realm of morphological changes that happened over that long period of time.

On the plant structure - was the one you got later more viney or less viney and were the potency and/or terps different from the earlier one you had?

The Bodhi cut was very viney. Potency was what I perceived some 20 years later to be lower and terps were close.

Bohdi created a strain using what he claimed was the RD c99 cut, however I never shared that cut, which BTW originally came from Lucas. He probably got bad info on the cut source.

I have some Bodhi cut Genius x Ace Panama and Genius x LED seeds Cherry Tart I'm going to pop soon. I'll see how they compare with crosses I made with Sly's Genius cut.

The Bodhi genius cut probably is still around. Can't say for sure I've been out of the game for 3 -4 years.

The Lucas cut of C99 I can't say. Lucas was very cautious, encrypted messages and emails so I don't think he was sharing cuts. When he confirmed that Sly sent me the Genius cut he wanted it. So we exchanged cuts after years of built up trust between us.

I never planned to grow out C99, especially after a close friend and grower grew it out and wasn't impressed. Sly has also sent me an oz. of Princess bud which was good but IMO not great. I was an Apollo 11 fan and a huge Apollo 13 fan. So it was chance to give C99 a few runs without starting from seed.

For a little background I got to know Mr Soul at cannabis.com when Uncle Ben was the moderator. before Richard started cannabisworld. After 10 years I came back the whole online growers gene pool seemed to shitted up with unstable poly hybrids and auto flower crap. The good old days when a group of us were working to preserve genetics. Shanti sent us some old Nevil crosses that were ever marketed. OT1 sent us some really old haze seeds, we got some old flying dutchman Thai and anon and I were working on the Vietnamese black line that got mixed reviews on the cBay auction.

Ray Davies told me and possibly posted in my Cinderella thread that Bodhi did have his cut of the c99 and yes it did originally come from Lucas and I believe somewhere on the forums here you can still find Lucas' seed run. He had like 4 packs of the originals from HS with the washers. Ray said he had been trying to get his cut back from Bodhi shortly before he went offline from here again.

Mr Soul had told me after he first returned that Bohdi and a few other people were trying to help him with some things as well most likely that Genius that Soul is using is from Bodhi.

Guess who you are talking too......

After some lengthy reflection and talking to some old friends. I can't recall nor can those who knew me remember sharing that C99. I shared a ton of cuts from a dozen different strains with people all over the world. But when I look back at some old log books I had found when I moved.. I got the C99 cut after I had to cut back on mailing out cuts. It was getting expensive and I never asked for any money.
