That's some dangerous stuff, Bud Green - I wouldn't take multiple trips through the Bermuda triangle, past all the sunken galleons, oodles of Bahamian islands, Cuba and Haiti for all the Indian black hash in the world. Then again, I've never had Indian black hash...nope, still too much of a landlubber...

View ImageTemps are in the 90s so im still using 30% shade cloth

Temps are about 110 in my area right now and my plants appear fine with no shade cloth, and they're getting direct sun almost all day from sunrise to sundown.

I have thought about setting something up so I can hang shade cloth over the tops of them on the hottest days of the season (when it gets up around 105 to 110+), on days like today.

While the high temps don't seem to bother my plants much it is def outside of the ideal temperature range that the plants are most cozy in. I have wondered how much benefit some shade cloth would offer on days like today.

In that pic, is that one plant that's been bent down/trained? Or several small plants?

I think the 4 plants i have would survive in these temps without this bit of shade thou i dont think the majority of terpens would
I have this cloth for 2 reasons
Keep temps down, preserve terps and lower vpd and also to increase time between waterings
I live in what called a high desert (5000'el.)
So lots of uv thats reduced by 30%
RH is normally in the teens all summer
I left the shade off one day that got hotter then i thought and the plants had no smell and the.smell didnt return till next day....
After i got temps down 8° or so

Thanks for the words of comfort everyone. This has been a rough year indeed. Local 5-0 have been increasing patrols and speed traps in order to recoup some of their funds they've lost this year. No surprise that patrols by air looking for plants have increased also. The war wages on...

Lots of wind in Cali today. Hope your power doesnt get shut off. Get them big plants supported !

All of mine have lots of support....but as I get ready to leave for work , I wish I had more time to throw up more.

The big tall 10ft tops are swaying in the wind . Another reason I’m aiming next year to do lot of small plants. Easier to manage and support buds during rough weather .

These winds are gonna suck for fires. Stay safe everyone

For real tho.

It's a gnarly hot & dry & windy day out there! Looks like a nice cool down (relatively) from here on out tho and calm winds.

What region of cali are you in? (I'm in the central valley)

My plants are pretty secure with the support I made around them but I still hate seeing them get thrashed around in the wind.

This is the first year I have a couple somewhat "medium/big" plants (6 to 7ft tall & wide) growing in the ground, crazy seeing all the tops swaying about in the wind like waves lol.

Your plants look good. They appear a bit deeper into flowering than most of my plants.

Organilush- Im glad you pulled through the mite issue and came out on the other side okay. I also hope this community still has some of its luster that it once had, any keep some of the older members to help newer ones learn from their trials and tribulations... What did you use to deal with the issue?

Thanks man. Me too!

A full run down & details of what I did to wipe out the hemp/russet mites and get the situation under control is in this post here in a thread I had going about the whole ordeal>>>

https://www.icmag.com/ic/showpost.php?p=8977643&postcount=26

But putting it shortly into a nutshell, this is what I did to successfully get rid of mites....

Two days in a row I used some rosemary essential oil, lavender essential oil, castile soap, and alcohol diluted into/mixed up with water and sprayed that on the plants after sunset. The morning after I'd give the plants a rinse off before sunrise. Did that two days in a row.

A few days later I used some enzyme/citric acid based stuff called "Dr. Zymes" . ( https://doctorzymes.com/pesticide-free-insecticide.php ) ....I've done 3 applications with that stuff so far and feel it's def helping.

I feel that both the mixture of oils/alcohol that I made and the Dr. Zymes stuff I bought has helped do the trick but I'm sticking to the Dr. Zymes from here on out since it is milder on the plants and doesn't have much smell to it and seems pretty darn effective.....

...but a mixture of essential oils (certain specific oils are ideal, rosemary in particular it seems from my bit of research) and soap and a bit of alcohol is a cheap and effective mixture to "wipe out" mites. Some of the products out there that I've seen a handful of folks recommend for mites are basically just that, some oils and soap/surfactant and some alcohol but it's marked way WAY up in price.

hey there brother, i too know how you feel
especially after all that hard work, effort, time and costs

my first year grow, did 4 plants indoor...
they did good.....but lost almost all of it , 9 ozs to mold
when i tried curing in jars....hard lesson
useless...experts say ditch it, mold is not healthy to smoke

then my second season grow, i brought an outdoor plant inside
decontaminated the bugs off it first, (so i thought)
ended up with a severe case of white fly manifesting itself
took a year to get rid of.....struggled with it...
from another 4 plants, i got 2 ozs.....another kick in the ball sack

so i hear ya, feel for ya too.....
this year im doing much better, and expect a good harvest
i got plants indoor at home, and some outdoor at parents place
so aside from getting ripped off, i should be good

my best advise, take it on the chin, -learn from it!!
dust off, and as the saying goes: rub dirt in it cowboy,
and carry on.....like i did

even if the bugs take you out....no biggie
there's always next year....right
it happens....even to the most experienced growers

me im new at it, didnt start growing anything till it was legal
so this is my 3rd season now....and i think im on top of it
but could be wrong....

keep at it, and you will get there, my friend
have faith in yourself...

I appreciate your words dude, thanks brotha!

Sounds like you def know how the difficult times can go with growing this plant.

I too didn't start growing until it was "legal" in my state and this is also my 3rd time/3rd year in a row growing the plant, and while my previous two grows turned out pretty good IMO this year's grow was going to be "the one" where I had everything dialed in. My previous two grows turned out pretty good, I was satisfied with most of it and even impressed with some of it, I only had some relatively minor issues with caterpillars getting into & rotting some buds but other than that it turned out well with no big issues.

This year I started 1 to 2 months earlier than previous years. This is also the most plants I've had going and the most variety of strains, and the first time I've had plants growing directly in the ground (big plants  ) ...So this year was shaping up to be pretty stellar and there were a lot of "firsts" for me and things I was looking forward to, and I plan on moving after the holidays so this might be the last time I get to grow again for a few years until I find a new place to live and hope I'm able to grow outdoors there.

I'm on a tight budget too and my plants basically supply my herb/medicine for most of the year (and gives me something to barter with) so I was dreading having to pay for overpriced mediocre herb for another entire year if I ended up losing all of my plants and not having a supply on hand.

So there were quite a handful of things that made the ordeal hurt & stress me out pretty bad at first when I realized I had mites on a plant and started to notice their damage on all of my plants within a couple days.

After the initial "oh no!" of it all...after a few days I had accepted the fact that I was possibly not going to end up with anything to harvest at all and just took it as a lesson learned. Tho I did a lot of reading about the issue and I was going to make some effort to save my plants.

Long story short...It's looking like I will still have something to harvest this year and may not actually have lost all that much weight and/or quality.

Thanks again for your kind words.

I'm up at the top of the valley near. Plants all fine after I got home, but with more weight they start to fan out . I need to put up more supports on the big big girls, but its not the easiest task. I hate to see them thrash, I'm hoping wind will die down. worst is over kinda deal. Gonna keep stringing net and supports though. It's hard, have to get a big ladder. Seems to be that about half of the garden is progressing a few weeks ahead.

Do most of my garden work alone, so laying net and shit gets dicey with big plants.

I do love them and fingers crossed will have a great harvest.

Slurricane is furthest. Very frosty, 2 different phenotypes
Tahoe OG- Bulking up nice
Blue Dream- Big and starting to form flowers but behind the 2 above.
Lucid Dream- Furthest behind . This was a new strain ( new to him) from my OG grower in Mendo. He said is was much hyped from his source, and that is was supposed to be quite the producer and what not. Potent , bag appeal, all that. This strain was the most vigorous grower all season. It also seems to be the one plant that had aphids. Hoping that I got that dealt with, they seem healthier. Frost is building. There is so many bud sites on the plant. We shall see.

I've got clones of everything so good performers will stay and do an indoor run.

Gonna be a smoky day in California. Fires broke out hard yesterday. Checking on my outdoor girls , seem to have made it through the wind . I’ll be working on them later today .

I am dead set on doing an earlier light dep crop next summer . I want to be done with harvest by August . Then I won’t be doing this shit during peak fire season. Or should I say Christmas in September, raining ash . Fuckkkkkkk

Have a great day everybody

Best wishes to all my fellow Cali growers , and any other people dealing with fires.

At least a cool down is predicated.
