Anything outdoors 2020

In the Detroit area we been having random heavy rain storms the last 24 hours or so. My plants look pretty ugly right now, branches sagging almost touching the ground (none of them broke yet). Upper branches are fine for the most part, but the lower branches (some up 2/3 of the plant tall) pretty much rolled over and can barely support them. I've done some emergency staking and it looks ok for the moment. Sounds like new storm just showed up. I'm worried for them, here's some pics from 5 days ago. Also a pic of the storm about to hopefully not break a whole bunch of branches right about to start now. Sad face, lol. Also a pic of my small ass buds starting pretty late, with some trics at least.

Wow Great outdoors you really are in the great outdoors. When I saw your pics earlier I noticed the surrounding vegetation, the lighting, looked familiar. Then you mentioned BC and talked about the weather, I realized you're probably 150 miles or so to the north (I mean 240 km). As much as the weather can suck for me I don't know how many times I see the rain and cold just miss me and head right through your front door. After last year's debacle an Indian summer would be nice.

I've been wondering about Red's stuff, all the nice sativas tufting up. I'm far enough north I get the worst of both worlds, not only do the sativas take forever to finish with the short days and low lighting, they don't get triggered to flower until the autumn equinox. If I tried to grow a Columbian or Haze I'd be looking at a 2021 harvest. In the tropics it all works out, you can start your seeds in May or June, flowering triggers in July and August, harvest in November and your season is just as long as everywhere else.

Here's a couple of stalk shots.

The last one, I buried the roots a couple of times but they kept washing out. Maybe I'll try one more time, I don't mind a bit of exposure but that's cutting deep.

Hi TR
At 38N Golden Tiger Thai will flower around mid September The longest flowering sativa I have
Last two Decembers, welcomed the new year, with temps around 25C, felt like spring
Have a feeling, the same will happen this year
We used to have 4 seasons
Down to 2 with extreme weather phenomena all year round

You are correct except I am probably a little more north than that. I agree it's a bit shocking to see how far along Red1's plants are along. I do think that since our days now get shorter so much faster it kinda kicks them into overdrive. My plants started preflowering mid July but they never really start truly kicking in until mid August.
As far as frost goes I can typically make mid November, but really I shoot for strains that are end of September. This year looks like I have 2 that should be end of September but my Blue Dream and Acapulco Gold will be mid to late October.
Let's just hope we get an Indian summer this year!
Last year I felt was the coldest wettest summer I have seen in my 35yrs in this area but this summer blows that record out of the water.
BTW I know a really old school grower who goes by " The Rev" that was short form for " The Reverand oh so high". LoL.

I'm always so surprised when i hear of people pulling stuff down in sept. In all my years, i have never really done anything that was finished before mid Oct.

I really want to try one of those super photo sensitive plants that will start flowering with over 16hrs of light. It would be cool to have spring and summer depp like harvests without the tarps.

Anyone have any suggestions? The only thing i really know of are dr greenthumbs Iranian auto crosses.

I, in particular, live far from the tropics, on the 38° N of the interior of Spain.
Here also the pure sativas of long bloom do not begin to bloom until the beginning of September, and are not collected until the end of November (the least late) or until January or February (the later).
However, I and other acquaintances have experienced that some pure African sativas of the Congo, and of the zone of the Indic Ocean, like same Zamals, begin to bloom as soon as they reach the maturity sufficient for it, independently of the solar photoperiod. And although it needs then 12 or 20 weeks of bloom, it is collected before another sativas of another origin with the same weeks necessary to mature.

This year I have observed it again in my King Congo 1° (Congo Point Noire * South African Ciskei; Tropical Seeds Company), which was born the first week of May, and in these photos of last July 17, you can already see that it has started the flowering process:

I've taken down fully ripe C weed the first week of September. It's only available in cuttings and you can't put them outside before the first week of June or they will start flowering. Planting hardened off cuttings the first week of June half pound plants are very achievable.
Other BC strains that are ready around 3rd week of September are Purple Pineberry, Texada Timewarp, C Warp, and Pinewarp off the top of my head. All our cuts only though I did see some regular C or Pine Warp seeds offered on some Canadian seed site.
Myself I am sick of those strains and have been doing feminized seeds the last few years. With legalization here in Canada I am all about variety. My two that should be ready by end of September are "Fast" versions. Original strain crossed with an autoflower version that shortens flowering one to two weeks.

Things are going well down at the hideout..

The hurricane that just wiped the Gulf coast was almost 500 mile south of me,
but the tracking showed it was gonna come up where i live and I was right in the path..

I went out and tied dozens and dozens of branches up to the stalk or the steel stake i always put by each plant..

Then i took more spools of twine and just wrapped 'em around and around on each of my plants..

The remnants of the hurricane hit me 2 nights ago just as it was getting dark outside.
The next morning my buckets showed me I got almost 4 1/2 inches of pounding rain in about 6 hours..
The NOAA weather page showed me out winds were at 38 mph..

I lucked out.. all the twine I use helped and I had no broken branches..
Yesterday morning I checked and they were all happy.
Went out today and took a few pictures...

Now if I can just keep 'em looking this good for about 5 more weeks....

Bud at the hideout, checking out the buds..
