Hi :)
Think you've been under watering all this time
All precautions to cover black plastic pots, are getting extreme, sign that what little you've given them warms up fast, evaporates, rooting system has nothing to feed on
Could be wrong?,sharing a thought
:)

they get watered every morning. basically, flooded. before it gets too hot.

the water definitely makes it out the bottom. the plants are on the deck and the area underneath the deck gets wet. the birds like to hang out in the wet area, under the deck, after the shower stops.

Birds = quail, chickens, & silkies, & little songbirds.

I practically do the same every morning, afternoon and a nightcap since they seem to need it.Similar temps like you.Watering a bottomless pit, pots without a base,I think I would have encountered similar problem like you,I think
My friend like I said, sharing a thought, an observation, and,I can be wrong

Hey everyone,
the problem with pots is they can become hydrophobic easily, which means, the water that’s going on isn’t hydrating the medium and the water is running off.
One of the best ways I’ve found to check the moisture levels in my pots is to put bamboo scures into the medium and if they’re dry it’s obviously under watered and if it’s moist with soil sticking to it, it’s all good.
If you have a hydrophobic pot the best way to deal with it is to submerge it in water until it stops bubbling and if you can’t easily move it, block up the holes. This method works well for drowning out ants as well; make sure they’re not the beneficials though.
Cheers,
40.

those temps are hard to ignore.

without an automated watering system like someone mentioned, well they grow better when you give them TLC.

kind of getting tired of spending 2 hours a day bucket watering, but i want to make sure the plants are properly fed, like champion triathletes.

when they are in that hot sun, they are being asked to perform like an Iron Man champion.

i figure you have to feed them accordingly.

when the temps drop back into the 80's on Thursday, that might be a good time for me to take a break.

In this heat we've been having the big holes at the hideout dry up fast..
The past week I've been giving 'em 5 gallons one day and 3 gallons the next...Per plant...
Then 5 gallons again the next day after that, and so on...

And they might be wanting more...that's a lot of water...
Hope my reservoir doesn't dry up....

haha....great, great job.....

curious....
with that much foilage going on, what do you do to contain the smell
from wondering noses and thus prying eyes...??

do you have some home made remedy
to disguise the odor from that many super nice, super healthy plants ?

again, great job brother!!

Thank you Axle Bot, really appreciate it.

Honestly no plan for smell. I live in the country and hope my neighbors don't pitch a fit this year. I'm trying to keep them below an 8ft fence.

From the air I'm screwed of course. Hoping the annual stress of fires and now Covid-19 let me get through this year.

They never have in the past, but this is a banging garden this year. I know it's gonna stink.

Crazy idea, gonna pick up any dead skunks I see and pitch them along my country road to make neighbors think its just a skunky fall :dance013:

Honestly I need to move to a more secluded country spot.

Took clones off my favorite plant tonight. A ginormous, vigorous Lucid Dream. Planning on an indoor run as soon as the weather cools off.

Gonna take clones of each strains top performers. Lucid Dream, Blue Dream, Slurricane, and Tahoe OG.
