Just thought I'd post this little funny story here as its some what related to this thread.

So I got one plant ripped a few weeks ago and for some crazy (or smart reason) they took the plant that wasn't in flower.

After some paranoid days and all the kind words here I decided to move the hole op to a new spot and cut my other plant that was annoyingly in flower to take tbe hear off the site.

I took the immature flowers. (maybe 2g dried) and killed the rest. Tonight I took at look at my swagg and thought he'll why not. While watering plants in the greenhouse I dusted off my pipe and smoke two bowls and finished mixing soil to take up to the new site... After 5-10mins I'm feeling pretty high (let's all bear in mind ghat I've not got high since agora went offline say 5-6 years?? And since then since 2009).

Anyway finished getting all the soil ready for the next trip up to the new location and think to myself.. Where did I leave the pipe and lighter (Mrs is very strict and it would mean weeks in the dog house).

Shit it's not on the side in the greenhouse,... Not on the floor... Not stashed in the vermiculite, not in my drawer in the garage.

Shit.. Where the Heck have I put it, this is always how I get busted! Too stupid to hide my own tracks what ever shit I'm up to (not cheating, I love my wife).

Anyway.. After panicking in the dark in the greenhouse.. I thought maybe I put it in the car.. At first nothing then I checked under the back seats.. Like literally pulled the seats up and everything.... Ta da! There they are!

Had no memory of doing this... God knows what I'll be lick with some ripe, well cured buds.?

I'll correct the spelling and grammar when I'm straight

Old man told to lay down rhubarb leaves to kill weeds in my growing spot. I put 4 plants in as a test.

Sounds like a good plan. My ganja patch, where I've grown the last couple years, has hardly any weeds in it. I let all my leaves and stalks rot in it after harvest. By April there's some weeds growing and they're very healthy from the leftover nutrients. It's not many and they're the type that spread over ground to shade out the other weeds.

Since they're for seed (fem), I'm going to deep six the damaged ones guessing that the survivors are naturally more pest resistant.

Anyone know how pest resistance works?

It's been a bad year for slugs, too humid and cool. My friend had a terrible time keeping them out of his cold frame. He lost several nice seedlings and several topped. He had a multiple strain hybrid OG that reeked of skunk, much more then all the other seedlings. The slugs kept attacking it, the leaves were chewed to pieces. For whatever reason the skunky smell attracted them.

Ironically this morning I was reading a bit about weeds this morning in McPartland, Clarke, and Watson's book Hemp Diseases and Pests: Management and Control. I recommend it to all outdoor growers. to quote..

The ability of hemp to serve as a 'smother crop' is usually attributed to physical characteristics, such as its dense canopy and root system. But cannabis also produces allelochemicals-water extracts of cannabis inhibit the growth of other plants. It's speculated that terpenoids supress the growth of surrounding vegetation. Pulegone, 1,8-cineole, and limonene suppress plant growth and maybe cannabinoids..

Allelochemicals may overwinter better in no-till situations where crop residues remain in place in the field. Mulch from cannabis inhibited the growth of couch grass. Insect attacks may intensify in crops attacked by insects.

I've been giving my plants low doses of chitosan. I can't say it's eliminated all pests, I'm getting a few chews from slugs and I've found two spit bugs, but that's it. I've had a few small garden spiders move in and there's been a bumper crop of ladybugs. I saw two today, working over the tips of my plants.

All the rain has been good for all the plants, the cannabis, my garden, and the weeds. Everything's growing like crazy. I have big lettuce heads, lots of spinach. Tomatoes and peas are growing fast. Even the peppers are doing all right.

Here's a Guava Wookie I'm 95% certain is female. I've seen one hair in a preflower and I thought I saw two yesterday but today I only saw one.

picture.php

It's got a tall upright structure, a bit too bushy to call totem pole. His Black Raspberry and Soulmate, also Wookie hybrids, have this type of structure.

It's show two different phenotypes so far, this one is the more normal looking one. The other one is very distinct, with much fatter darker Indica leaves. Here's a picture from a couple weeks back. This plant appears to be male.

picture.php

And a Snow Queen, another Bodhi strain. It's got thick stalks, a very solid-looking plant.

I took a picture of a male pre-flower today, the same one I posted yesterday from last week. To show it's development. I'm hesitant to assume a plant is male from pre-flowers since it means culling. Waiting for a plant to develop true balls can be frustrating. I culled this one anyway, I didn't feel like wasting a pot and it had several more of these balls. I'd usually wait and see but I've got enough plants.

picture.php

Anyone think I should have waited? Or seen female flowers develop on a plant with several of this type of pre-flowers? Usually I separate these type of plants into a boy's club until I decide my breeders and the true balls develop.

In your situation, I probably wouldn't have either.

By the spot the preflowers are, looks definitely is a male... I'm sure as you have inspected it more thoroughly your conclusion is a boy was reinforced by the rest of preflowers.

I planted these a few days ago. More Cowbell, More Cowbell OGKB remix, Grandma's Hashplant, and Time Bandit. After reading good things about Bodhi's 88g13hp crosses I had to give these a try.

Sup dudes, I got some stuff done over the few days. Found a nice spot from the woods, very secluded, filled with mosquitoes and horse flies.. Which kinda sucks but then again they keep uninvited people away from hiking near my shits, too.

Some pixxx:

Overview of the future spots.

picture.php

Place has very nice natural soil, added in a couple of store bought soil bags to dilute it, so to speak. It's a marshland type o thing, so the soil stays fairly wet unless we get a long dry spell or something, usually this doesn't happen but the last 2 summers have been dryer than usual.

picture.php

But then that's cool too 'cause I found this forest stream which should have some running water if all else fails. Not too far from the actual spots, so not a bad haul.

picture.php

Got some earlies that just experienced their first rays of sun and also their first rain drops.

picture.php

Also need to plant these AF-seedlings before their roots get tangled in the small container, dono what goes where yet, but time will tell.

So far so good.
Keep it tight, dudes!

You are lucky to have access to some truly pristine landscape. Looks like the sort of place plants grow massive, yet fly under the radar due to being so isolated and far off the beaten track.

Pulling up a chair to observe and judge impartially, as the planet spins along its ordained path of orbit.

Thanks mate, yours are coming along lovely
I’ve had a problem with squirrels trying to dig the Raised bed up- first time they totally buried two plants but luckily no damage.
I’ve had to put chicken wire at soil level and put rocks on top which seems to have stopped them

Seedballs - Experimental Open Pollination Seed Runs

Seedballs - Experimental Open Pollination Seed Runs

Locations:
- In creek bank silt (still wet)
- In the creek (still water)
- Tossed in a dry Corn field among the corn sprouts (*before they've been sprayed for weeds)
- Tossed in a dry Corn field among the corn sprouts (*after they've been sprayed for weeds)
- Tossed in a farm drainage ditch among the emerging cat tails.
- Locations are about 5 miles apart.
- Last 2 locations are in wetlands and going in tomorrow morning (need an atv to get there).

I tried to time it with rain on the horizon. As it happens, a storm with hard rain is in the forecast starting tonight. Once the seedballs get wet, they should stay wet long enough to germinate. Now that I think about it, I should have presoaked the seeds for 24hrs, then made the seedballs. Next time I will.

1 cup grey clay
1 cup PromixHP
1 cup compost
1/4 cup Lawn fertilizer - NPK 30-0-1
Mix thoroughly.

Berry White got 3 seeds per ball.
Boreal Cloud have 2 seeds.
Train Lights got one seed.

Thanks. If 10% grow, I'll consider it a success and make thousands next year.

I have a site to do today. Half will be broadcast, the other will be stepped on.

Had a great storm yesterday evening and last night.

My oh my sir, if you don't mind me saying, you happen to reside in my conception of paradise. The pristine countryside in your corner of this globe is truly beautiful, to put it mildly.

Back in 2017, during a first time ever visit to Canada, I drove between Montreal and Gantineau, taking that narrow single-lane highway that passes beside the Bombardier aircraft factory, due to a navigation error on the way out, and then on return to Montreal, taking the regular two-lane highway that runs eastbound. Can't recall the highway names without checking Google Earth.

Despite spending decades in California in my earlier years, I was still humbled by the sheer vastness of the landscape in that one little portion of Canadian soil that I traversed. Stopped a couple of times just to take photograph those horizons that stretched on forever, and those pristine forests that ran for many miles. Man that was a memorable trip for sure.

Apologies for the minor digression, but TychoMonolyth's location, noted by his name in each post, triggered a flood of memories dating back to a simpler time, in 2017, before the world changed.

Thanks. From Montreal to Gatineau (metro ottawa region), that was the 50. It's on the Quebec side. Definitely nice country. You returned on the 417 on the Ontario side. Farm country. Good top soil to 36 inches deep in some areas. My neck of the woods is on the south side of the 417. It's a watershed that feeds the st Lawrence seaway. Wetter and looks more like the 50 on the Quebec side. The land front the north country in NY to Vermont is every bit as great. My brother has a cottage in Massena ny. Just gorgeous.

I have traveled from florida, Texas, California, BC, and to the east coast. People don't realize the gift we have compared to the rest of the planet. Stick a shovel in the ground just about anywhere and you have drinkable water. Fuck, we have to drain it away in some areas so we can grow crops.
