The only thing that i don't like about the overdrive is its 1% nitrogen ..... theres enough in the V&B ... enough that if you feed to strong after week 3 ... you will chance getting foxtails & airy buds ....BTDT . I was thinking if anything .... I might try PK13/14 from canna ...... no excess N !!! it would work good for you in RW , but with me i'm not sure about it because the coco doesn't need that much more K either :thinking:
but i'm lookin ....

you try it & keep us informed how its going ...... sorta like you've been doing :)

I'm using Overdrive, canna coco......buds are massive. I think it is better than running high EC of just V+B. Chris suggested it to me, and it is wooing great. Maybe you should try it, instead of just going by the label. I'm impressed, the V+B buds are bigger than the GH buds side by side. I am growing a Haze, which is nitrogen sensitive. If the Overdrive had too much N, the leaves would curl. There is not too much N in it, trust me

Hey Dans,
You get that Cloudy res figured out? funny thing, it's starting to happen to me now though nothing has changed except for a fresh new 5lb bucket of V+B, looking for any possibilities. Not using citric based PH adjuster either.

Yeah I did grow . it was my citric acid based PH adjuster . but anything organic or living added to the rez will create that foam . i added Rhizo & cannazyme & they both did the same thing . with the cannazyme the foam didn't create a slime like the others .... the rez was nice & clean but it had the foam on top too . the only thing i found that doesn't do that is the drip clean .

Not sure with yours ..... are you adding anything other than V&B & PH adjusters ???

They look fantastic Rives , love the colors :tiphat:

what is she ???

Thanks, I've grown this strain a number of times now and have never seen it show colors like this. When I bought the clone a couple of years ago, the dispensary said that it was "BOG Diesel". However, BOG says that he has never released a "Diesel", but has used it in a couple of crosses. Who knows?

@Dans,
Nothing else but V+B and ph, not getting foam at all, just dark cloudy, brownish water. Just bleached it all, we'll see what happens next.

@Rives,
You still using you blumats? got pics of your setup? i still have two patio kits stored away, one set was used for only 1 run, looking to bring em back out but trying to determine the best setup.

Yep, still on blumats. Not much to this setup other than the elevated/main reservoir, just a single-ended loop with a couple blumats feeding off of it and a tray to catch any overflow. My other tent is is set up a lot tricker as far as the blumats go - similar reservoir setup, the feed loop is fed from both ends and rises to the back center where an air bleed solenoid purges the air automatically. It is set up on top of a bathtub, so it has a drain.

That's pretty slick! so, is the larger PVC (Center) the over flow while the Feed pipe (Right) fills the top rez?

If so, is the fill pump always running or are you eye balling it each day?

Yes, the 1-1/4" pipe in the center is the overflow, and the 3/4" is the feed line. Because the overflow drains back to the main reservoir, there is no need for any sensors or advanced controls - a digital timer kicks the lift pump (and a circulation pump in the large bottom reservoir) on for a few minutes twice a day. This is enough to keep the upper reservoir always topped off to within 2"-3" of the overflow, and then the excess just drains back to the big rez and keeps things stirred up. The pumps don't run long enough to create any heat, and they should last a very long time with the low usage. The pressure variation that the blumats see is very minimal - psi change per foot of elevation is less than a 1/2 pound, so for the couple of inches that the reservoir drops, the blumats see a change of less than .1psi.

The other digital timer in the plug strip controls the air bleed solenoid valve, and it runs for a couple of minutes 3 times a week. You can see it in the tent pictures, it picks up off of the high point in the plumbing and also dumps back into the main reservoir.

hi, i'd like to share my experience and hopefully get some advice.. i've been using V+B for over 90 lbs now on coco/perlite drip to waste.. i've had 3 very successful grows and used to love this formula for simplicity and results.. only draw back was that i've had participation in the bottom of my tank, which looked like sand and it was messing up with my feed filter installed after the feed pump.. it would make a girding noise when i would put a cap on and eventually mess up o-rings which would have to be replaced.. i've started by sending a sample of my water to Chris and he confirmed that my water doesn't need custom blend and RO version would work just fine.. and it did.. i was somewhat scared in the beginning to use it alone, so i would add some leftover canazyme/bud-xl and rhizotonic.. i also usually use little bit of paclobutrazol to help me to stop stretch.. later i tried to use it stand alone with just few days of paclo.. almost same great result.. that was with original (green color formula).. now with new formula (blue) things just don't look the same.. first of all i've noticed it took twice as much of ph down to get to the same ph level.. then in the end i've started to get diminished results with a lot more foxtailing.. i've talked to Chris and he assured me that nothing really changed except for additional low molecule fulvic acid - which is alway good in my book! now - i am not bashing hydroponic research, opposite - Chris is a great guy from what i could tell and the product is very good! except if i were him - i would not change the formula at all.. he could put up and new product - version 2.0 and call it somewhat different.. and keep existing product as is.. i guess i am just trying to figure out why things are not working out for me the same way anymore and if anybody else has somewhat similar experience?? now - it is possible that my strain, which is super finicky is acting up.. and i could see it producing somewhat less, it was also cooler in winter and i don't have sealed room and no CO2.. could be lot's of things but fox tailing was out of control to the point that my originals looked like sour d.. if it would be just one run, i would not panic, but it happened twice in a row.. last time while it is ideal conditions in the room.. for now i put V+B on hold.. i still have 25 lbs left.. i've started again using H&G till i figure things out.. i'd love to continue using V+B.. it's a lot more work mixing liquid nutrients up.. i need to add many more expensive components to get the same results i used to get with V+B.. weighing powder on scale and mixing it up is piece of cake and it is super stable.. in addition i don't have to make anything special for my moms.. everything looks green and healthy.. no extra cal-mag, sugar, fulvic.. i guess i am trying to figure out how to come back to the same numbers and quality..

i have a question for green thumbs - few pages back you've mentioned that npk changed to 15-10-27.. my newer batch still says 16-10-30 so is hydroponic research web site.. where did you get this numbers from??

the only thing i add to my coco is caps benni's and dichotomous earth.

do you add any beneficial bacteria/fungi? do you recycle your coco?

you switched to RO formula but are you using tap water? do you check your tap at different times of year?

heat will make things fox tail. feeding them too high too far into flower will make them fox tail. you switched fomrula right? is the other formula slightly stronger? should you be backing off your EC slightly earlier?

also, all over this thread people say chris said this chris said that. i have never talked to chris, well, one email when i first bought a pound, took couple days to respond and wasnt to clear. i didnt follow up.

personally i would LIKE the formula to change as things are available or unavailable or new things come out. and really i think there should be a formula for each media both ro and tap(rockwool/coco/dwc). the whole point of V+B and the concept is that 90% of plants need a certain profile, once you hit that its over, taper off at the end, media buffering does the rest.

USA and Canada are the ONLY 2 countries that do not require a GMO warning label on foods. ALL other countries except for the USA and Canada put a GMO warning label on GMO foods.

Now who is the liar exactly here yosemite just so I understand where your coming from?? You are one confused puppy huh??

I think you need to get a better source for your information my friend. Just some friendly advice.

PS- I have NOTHING to do with Veg+Bloom bro or its label or any other labels for that matter, we just tested the product extensively and I was just trying to spread FACTUAL information about the product. You have gotten this thread WAY off topic now several times with BS about lies and nutrient labels when clearly you know nothing about them.

This is where experience with water chemistry and plant biology comes into play. To be able to intelligently interpret the data on the label which you also clearly can not do by your comments and post. Because if you DID have a clue, you would not be calling people liars and instead would be able to understand what the data on the labels mean and why they are there and to what purpose they are suppose to serve which is NOT to tell you EVERY single ingredient that is in the formula. This is COMMON SENSE to most of us!!

I got those new npk numbers on a hardwater sample I recently received from Chris. If you would like I can post a picture...

I find it odd as to why Chris hasn't posted this change of npk on his website. I went onto the website myself the same day I received the sample to see if they mentioned a change in the npk, nothing was posted suggesting a change was made. Maybe it's the new formula they are going to start using and haven't mentioned it as of yet
