Well.... Today was a Good Day....

Well.... Today was a Good Day....

Day two of sunshine. No rain here, down the road it pounded, but that ain't here. That be somebody eleses' problem.

It happened.

It happened just like I wanted it to. Unfortunately, I wasn't here to see it, but that may be what kicked the whole thing off.

I'll give the rips credit for the last one. Coming in the middle of a rainstorm, with lightning added for effect.... that was genius. That night they earned what little they swiped. Then this time they waited for me to leave before hopping the fence. What appeared to be a smart move, another new wrinkle, didn't work out at all like any of us planned.

I'm gone fifteen minutes and wifey calls to say that there is a big commotion down at the bottom of the fence. In wifeyworld any dog barking is a commotion, so I tell her I'll be back when I get back. Then my neighbor calls. Like two minutes later. Same thing, big trips at the bottom of the property, and he saw two punks come flying over my fence, dogs in pursuit, one of the punks limping. They hopped the fence onto his land and were heading down to the road for emergency evacuation.

Needless to say I haul ass back home, check the girls, all are untouched. Under a False Olive tree I find a cane knife, and further along a pair of slippers. The trail tells the story pretty well. The dogs caught them as they were coming under the low tree. They couldn't stand, they were on their hands and knees on lava rock, they had to pull a 180 as the dogs were attacking, to get the hell out of there. A nasty place to be trapped. They got bit. More than once.

My dogs are fine. Red has a couple of slashes on her chest. Brindy has a torn up lip.

Question is why didn't my dogs turn on the first time? I think since I was gone the dogs assumed the Alpha position. They just were defending their territory. If I was home they would probably have been inside sleeping, so looking back, waiting for me to leave was not a good move.

Do I think they will be back? 50-50. I doubt they will try a daytime hit again. Gonna have to keep my guard up during any nighttime lightning storms. But those don't happen often. The fact that they were seen and I know they aren't old fuckers like me takes almost all the people off my list of possible suspects.

And that's a good thing. It would have hurt if I know the people doing this personally. If I called them a friend. Better they remain random faceless punks.

Either way, word will now spread that the dogs are a credible defense. There just may be two, but they lock on. So and so got mauled. My fingerprints are nowhere to be found on this. It didn't get personal. No police report was filed. They got me, now I got them. If it buys me another few years of being left alone it was all worth it.

I was thinking about your problem with the rippers. You probably thought about it already, but is it possible to build a secure cage or greenhouse around it? http://stockyardsupply.com/index.php/fencing/welded-wire-livestock-hog-panels/

These things are very strong. You could frame something to make it a serious pain in the ass for potential thieves. By the time they could get through it, your dogs would already be chewing their balls off. You could even go as far as to electrify it. Use one of those solar electric fence kits. It's just shitty that people take advantage of somebody else work and money.

Goin' For the Trifecta.....

Goin' For the Trifecta.....

It's a stretch. But past one in the morning, it's either gonna be real bad or real good. My money is on the first, but then I am my harshest critic.

You know the way things work. I've explained it countless times. It either boils down to a gloat or a whine. The last few have been pure gloat, so the law of averages says this one should suck. Put it this way, have you EVER had good things happen after you Roundup your plants at the beginning of the year?

Still, honestly, the only reason I still do this is because, i just so love sticking my finger in authorities eye.

Three days.

That's what I got to dry out these plants and yank them. Three decent days, then back to thunder and lightning. It's like living in fuckin' Florida with volcanoes. Every godamn day.

But I made the most of those three nice days. And I didn't harvest because I thought the thieves would give me another crack. There was something they didn't know. You didn't either. In the big picture, the whole plan was to pin them in the gulch, should they have gone wandering, and they did have the time, they would have found a couple of way bigger scores. While they were swiping Roundup tainted plants and young weed, a mere 50 feet away was what I needed to harvest, on my time.

I kinda thought that GH wasn't giving us much attention, so I doubled my numbers. It wasn't hard, just plant every available hole, and load up the deck, then there were the few stashed here and there. It would have been nice to grab them all, including everything in the gulch, but it was not to be.

Those are now all in the bag. Everything is in the bag. Rain made sure of that. The garden has been replanted, right on my numbers, so now those thunderstorms are working for me. The next wave of clones all rooted just like they should have. All that is left to do is trim a huge pile of weed, as fast as possible. Not a problem.

So far this today I have replanted everything in the cloneroom, trimmed and blasted a pound of Skunkdog, now I give you this poor excuse of a growlog. Behold the Trifecta...

Kabon..... one day, should I choose to continue doing this past 2018, then I will build greenhouses. But more to hide from choppers than thieves. Electricity is easy to bypass, that won't stop a determined thief. Chainlink protects, but prevents me from expanding too. One of me secrets it that I move gardens, as the suntrack moves. Do I gotta chainlikn them up too? Where do you draw the line?

Another aggressive dog may be needed. My two dogs are coming into their own confidence. Of the three times they got close to the gulch, only once did they cleanly slip past the dogs. Now the dogs bite, 50-50 they will be found and mauled. Not good odds. Sure not worth Winter plants.

Ya I figured you had considered it already. I wasn't aware you had that much space to move your sites around. The honeypot plants are a good idea lol. Kind of reminds me of cutting harvested banana plants and leaving them around the new ones to get the weevils to eat them first. I've been putting thought into moving to the big island and if I plan to grow buds there, I need to figure out a way to secure my plants. I was thinking of making an open breeze greenhouse out of rebar and plant stinging nettles all the way around it. Of course get a couple of large dogs too. Nothing will keep a dedicated thief out, but it would keep the random tweekers that happen into my garden away. Do choppers drop down to check on random greenhouses here? Or do they only check when they see it on the camera? I'm a little unfamiliar with their operation here.
