My Shield controller's fucked, the directional pad stopped working, and had to buy a wireless keyboard. Logitech K400 plus, I'm lovin this thing tho. Shield system blacks out for a split second, and then comes right back, about every couple hours or so. Pain in the ass during a battle scene or something. It's probably because I bought one of the very first ones, at the first release. The new ones now I'm sure have been quality enhanced over the last year, ironing out some bugs. Plan to get a brand new one, maybe the next time they drop/sale...

Ya my step brother has the newer version he brought last summer. He says his does stuff like that. It freezes when he plays games aswell.

My firetv box is still going strong but they updated the software and the layout. Since I can't use one of the spmc apps I was using. It won't install properly and everything is missing from the builds just empty addons. Funny thing is kodi and mobdro work fine.
Good thing about amazon is they replace remotes for life. I've had 2 replacements. You go to the help tab on the menu and enter your phone number and within a couple of minutes they call you.
I told them my remote stopped working and they post one out on 24hrs delivery no quibble. I had 2 last 12 months lol.

They fixed all those issues with the first generation, the controller, and the blacking out for a second. Mine made it 2 years, but 1st gen's usually have their quirks. The Shield 2 will likely be far more stable, and is boasting 3 times the power of fire tv, 4K gaming, plus whatever else. Playing games on the first gen, as far as graphics reminded me of xbox360. Shield 2, being released next week, should rival PS4, Xbox1, plus rock the shit out of Kodi, even better than the first one did I'm hoping.

The new FireTv was recently released, but reading all the forums it seems the whole Kodi world is chompin at the bit for the new Shield. If he bought it last summer, must of been a newer first gen. They stopped making/selling these(they have them refurb on Amazon), so he got one of the last ones. Now they don't actually call it "Shield 2" it's just Shield, that's important. You can tell the difference with the controllers...

New controller's sleeker, thinner, less clunky...I like the jagged look. The old one's fatter handles, with unnecessary buttons that never did anything, glad they got they got rid of that. Think Shield 2 comes with the smaller remote as well, unlike the first one.

I wonder if Krypton will have voice command, say "Release Hub The Hobbit 1080p" and it pops up...that would be nice...

This is the Fire TV 2nd generation...https://www.amazon.com/Amazon-Fire-...e=UTF8&qid=1483713257&sr=8-1&keywords=fire+tv

Can't be beat for the under $100 range...includes Alexa, which is like Siri, so you can go all Knightrider with it lol

Yeah it's the 2nd generation firetv I have. It has the voice thing but that has no use when it comes to using sideloaded apps. It doesn't recognise them in voice control.

Anyway fella. You like your historical drama don't you? A new BBC program called Taboo has started and I'm hooked.
It's all about a guy who inherited a island that's key to both the british and Americans during the war of independence.
Anyway he has the Americans, king George and the East India trading company after it.
All schemes and scams.
Very well done show and I think you would really enjoy it.

I figured that one would be good, I was letting a few episodes pile up first. I try to see everything out of Tom Hardy, he's been blowing it up lately, especially with the Revenant. I've been into Generation War this week, it's kind of like the german Band of Brothers. It's on Kodi, and Netflix. I turned Netflix back on to watch some 4K shows, though I usually kill it again after I've watched everything I want. It's very well filmed, pretty much in that Hanks/Speilberg war style that BOB was. Subtitles are just better on Netflix anyway...

I will have a look at that war series. Yeah subtitles are hit and miss with kodi. I don't like it when they talk in a different languages and there's no subtitles. I've missed some key dialogue in movies that way. Yeah Tom hardy is a good actor.

Gav, the kids and I ran through every episode of "The Office", including the uk version. By default we're watching Parks and Recreation now.

Fantastic Beasts is on release Hub now in almost 1080p. With korean subs. The blockbusters like like that I prefer to wait for the bluray quality

My favorite recently is "American Honey". I'm not sure if you remember an independant movie called "Kids" back in the 90's? This one went for the same disillusioned youth theme, along with an incredible soundtrack. 2 hours and 45 min..., but worth it

Hi I am new to this forum, I was thinking about getting a new Android TV box and wanted some advice before spend any money.
I have been looking at Android TV boxes from this site https://www.entertainmentbox.com/product-category/android-tv-box/ and wanted to know everyone thoughts.
I need it for streaming and maybe gaming? has anyone had any experience with them ?
Thanks in advance.

The Nvidia Shield TV console is the best out there for running Kodi/tv apps. It's also a gaming console with ps4/xbox1 quality games through Geforce. It is however $199, because of all the gaming options. It has the highest antutu score of all android boxes, and runs Kodi the fastest/most stable.

Under $100, Fire TV box should be your first bet for Kodi, not sure so much about gaming.

My Shield just updated a few days ago, to now include Amazon Video(4k), more games/apps, and also just updated from Android Marshmellow to Nougat 7.0

It already has Netflix 4k. Most chinese hardware such as the majority of the boxes on the site you provided, are going to have Netflix in just standard definition. It looks like the site is just box resellers, who just buy the hardware from China, and screenprint their own logo on, with a few exceptions...peace and welcome :tiphat:

Ignore the skystream, it's chip's outdated, and it's overpriced hardware that should be $40. Stay away from "fully-loaded" boxes on ebay/amazon/other sites, nothing but trouble...

I like the UK Turks Playlist addon. It has a large collection of stand-up comedy and documentaries.

Yes, I just burned through the King Alfred set of 3 docs on the Turks, great developer. For those that have been watching Vikings, or The Last Kingdom should check it out. I think the first is King Alfred, then the lady of Mercia, and Aethelstan. Certainly more docs than Netflix, except they're mostly in standard. I'm ok with that...

No, that's an s812, close to being obsolete. if you're looking for something midrange under $100, find something with at least a s912 chip brother. Zoomtak's are known to be ok tho, so you're on the right track...:tiphat:

Forget paying rent, just buy the Nvidia Shield lol, or the Fire. A dude here Gav, has an amazon fire and loves it, pretty fast from what I hear...:) I'm not sure about gaming tho
