I don't want a lack of foresight to lead us into a catastrophe but people don't see love of humanity as wanting to limit the numbers?

I love deer but they can become too many and when this happens not only do we find them a road hazard but left to nature they increase population until a lean winter comes. Then 90 percent die and it takes them awhile to over populate again. Then the wolves love it when there are lots of deer but then with the lean winter eventually the wolves starve too.

This natural process works but to watch this happen to man would be a shock.

I think love for mankind would plan to do better than nature and having reasonable numbers would make it possible.

What is the optimum population for earth as far as humans? How many do we need?

Attrition and voluntary birth control might mean everyone could have a roof over their heads and some health care, food...the basics like some weed.

The planet could be sustainable but with more people we just warm the planet faster and it doesn't matter where you pack the rats in. They all still have to shit and eat uselessly in a box where the value of one rat is negligible.

Even if I new how to solve all the problems of more people I still wouldn't want more than we have now. We are breeding like there's no tomorrow. Just not smart people like in a movie.

When I used to read about that shit, I gather it to be nothing more than a race for immortality itself. Control the past and present by guiding the future into an elite dystopic utopia where these people literally become another, more superior species that has merged with Artificial Intelligence. All the while the bulk of humanity is culled, while the remaining unevolved humans are nothing more than slaves and house pets.

And about the overpopulation problem, it's going to be solved in a few generations when most people cannot reproduce from sterility.

There are probably evil plans to exterminate most of the planets population. Nature might not do it fast enough for the rich rulers.

Maybe we should have a thread just debating about population and the environment.

We have gone over most of these points repeatedly and this thread has diverged into several other important topics. Debating how many angels can dance on the head of a pin is really a waste of time but the future of our planet can be predicted by current trends.

Most people must realize that while local population may not be a problem for you the total human mass of the planet can't double again but it will. Or maybe not.

Depends on what we choose to do but I see population as a really central problem for our planet and I think about one billion people would be plenty.

Wouldn't it be better to value the individual than to just breed mindlessly. What should we do? I think folding space is still a way off but there might be other ways to continue to breed mindlessly if we really think that's best.

I know I will sound like a Nazi for this but shouldn't we selectively breed as we do with our plants and animals? Look at the beautiful dogs and horses and cats and clones.

Couldn't we select for intelligence, temperament, health and beauty? Would it be so wrong to try and improve our species genetic make up rather than just randomly over populating?

Should we make our babies in test tubes? Lol... I was.

it would be much better to raise the third world up, increase their standard of living, educate the youth in a well rounded way. this way they will arrive where we in the west are now in regards to population numbers, all by themselves without cruel and dehuminising eugenics laws and other horrors of history being repeated.

Much of what you are saying here has already been debunked. You can fit a blade or a piece of paper between MANY of the stones in the pyramids. They *HAVE* replicated the building of the pyramids (on a smaller scale) they CAN chisel the rocks with the same sort of tools that the ancients used and get the same results. They don't have to use modern tools and then still fail at it.

You really should investigate these sorts of claims PRIOR to believing them.

FYI, untraceable DNA does not mean "extraterrestrial life" many genetic lines of humanity are extinct, and are relatively unknown to modern science, they lived and died without their information ever been passed into the larger gene pool, resulting in traces of DNA in fossils that don't show the common markers geneticists expect from modern humans and their ancestors.
