for my own knowledge, is this still too early to tell, and am i looking in the right direction when it comes to sexing?

It is still to early to tell and you are looking in the right place. Pre-flowers will show on the upper nodes; they don't just all of a sudden pop up on the first few nodes. The leafy things in your pictures are new branches forming. The pre-flowers form at the base of these branches in the area circled in my edits of your pictures. Sometimes to get a better look at them you might have to remove the two spear looking that also appear at each node.

BTW - how do you get your pictures to show up large?

thanks dude. first question, my leaves have been very soft and droopy lately, not the way they should be...which is why i thought i overwatered...well, i let them go 2 days with no water...shit was BONE dry (i have coco in it)...and the leaves still droopy. watered...still droopy. runoff water pH is ~7.0 exactly. i'm thinking i need to lower that a little bit and transplant.

not sure about the pH, i have the pH down stuff now... but im going to transplant either way. some say thats what happens when they are rootbound...they are getting bigger, and i only wanted the dixie's for starting purposes. at this point its time to move up a notch...leave them in their unti mid-veg/late-veg then onto the 3gal's i believe

go to your gallery, open your image, right click on it (if in firefox, select save image location)...then on the forum hit the pic button with the mountain on it and copy the url

yes, the plants were severely root bound...the roots were half way back up the cup!

i remember hearing that CMH makes crazy root systems....thats good! transplanted into the 6 inch pots, i only had 10 so 1 mazar is still in the dixie cup... but i watered them and let them go, will chime in in 24-48 hrs about growth

You can try lowering your PH. It won't hurt if you drop it half a point, but I'm a big believer that PH is insignificant in organic soil grows (which is what you have now). My water PH is very high (7.8 to 8.0) and I don't run into any PH related problems.

im going to transplant either way. some say thats what happens when they are rootbound...they are getting bigger, and i only wanted the dixie's for starting purposes. at this point its time to move up a notch...leave them in their unti mid-veg/late-veg then onto the 3gal's i believe

Try it, but I can pretty much guarantee that they are not root bound in any way that is adversely affecting their progress. The upside of transplanting is that you will have to water less frequently. The downsides is that they may be slower to show sex. Additionally, you are probably going to want to transplant 3 weeks after the first transplant, regardless of whether the first transplant is now or later.

How are your temps these days. The reason I'm asking is that some of the things you are telling me are not inconsistent with higher temps. As a for instance, the ISS plant I posted a picture of a few days ago was much larger than your plants and also 2+ weeks older. It was only needing to be thoroughly watered every 2 days in a 16oz cup. The fact that your plants need to be watered at the same frequency is an indication that they are transpiring more, perhaps because of high than optimal temps. We have had a very cool spring thus far so I have had perfect temps (70s with lights on) to work with in absence of the use of any air conditioning (yet).

go to your gallery, open your image, right click on it (if in firefox, select save image location)...then on the forum hit the pic button with the mountain on it and copy the url

Thanks. I can't get it to work from my albums though.

good info...but yes unfortunately they were RB...i dont know if you were typing as i posted my latest update..but yeah the roots were half way back up the styrofoam cups. i've heard multiple reports that CMH over MH produces crazy root systems...which is why maybe i got RB way before you did (you're not using CMH for veg, are you?)

on that note, what kind of mollasses should i get? i hear its good for em. blackstrap or grandma's? and when to start using it? if you havent used it nm but i hear a lot of good things bout it

Right now I'm using a 4 lamp T5 with 6500k (cool - heavy on the blue spectrum) which seems to produce just as much root growth as I was getting under my MH and CMH lamps that I used previously. While I'm on the subject, I'm super impressed with this fixture. It is just as good as vegging plants as the 400w CMH or MH lamps I was using as long as I bend them down, uses half the wattage, and doesn't radiate nearly as much heat. If you ever think about setting up a veg area I would highly recommend looking into a T5 setup.

On the subject of root-bound-ness - I wish I would of taken a good picture of the roots on plants I just transplanted for comparison sake as a lot of people would say that they were root bound by looking at them (roots all they way up the cups and layered into a thick white mass at the bottom - holy shit ... totally root bound!), but growth and the health of the wasn't adversely affected.

Here they are in the new pots

Grandma's is blackstrap I believe? I don't really use the stuff on my cannabis (though it is an ingredient in BioGrow) so I'm probably not the best person to answer. I believe there is a molasses sticky in the organics forum. If you are going to use molasses it is probably worth reading.

* For my tomatoes and peppers outdoors I have bubbled guano-casting-molasses teas, but this is a little different application as the point of these is to get the microbes going in the actually nutrient-water mixture by supplying them with food (molasses).

Newbie indoor question here, from your grow box pics i believe thats a GL80? If so i have the same box and experimenting with configurations with my CAN-9000 and 4" can-fan.

Do you have your Carbon scrubber intaking air from the box-->pushing it through the light--->and exhausting it through the roof?

If so im confused as isnt it desired to have cool air running through the light(tube) and a seperate exaust, i assume your setup is just air cooling the light and not cool airing it?

Homebox L

yes, intaking air from box, over light, exhausted out...not too concerned about temps'. i got an a/c to control that :) i maintain 76-80 most of the time. sometimes lower, like 73-75

edit -> i also plan on dissassembling/redo'ing my setup after this run. IE; i need a new cover for the carbon filter (the foam that keeps out particles is full of shit already)...that needs to be taken down and done..also need to renovate how i use the floor of the homebox to deal with draining after watering

You should have your pots sitting on saucer things to catch the extra water coming out of your plants... so none of it should really be touching the floor of the home box

After a while you will know how much water each plant is going to take.. so if you do it right you shouldnt have to much run off and the saucers should catch it all

K

KMK0420

yeah i got square ones they didnt come with any.

i have 1 mazar that i don't have an extra pot for...and i'm not really caring too much for that strain, it was free and is the slowest of the 3... i may have to put that one still in the styrofoam cup directly into the bigger one (3gal)....i'm gonna have to hit HTGS out near me and get some more soil, along with maybe a 6 inch pot...which means i gotta get up early, as i work a 430-1 :(

the drive is like 45 mins too with light traffic..fark

on a good note though, those that were transplanted already stopped drooping and are perk'd right back up...Nice. and then in another 2-3 weeks when i can sex them all, moving onto the 3gal for finishing

are you growing feminized stains? If not you wont have to worry about not having enough pots, half of them are gonna be male and chucked.

Besides IMO theres only enough room in the homebox for like 4 plants.. they say 9 but damn i had 5 in there last grow and it was a overgrown jungle..

Thanks for your response i made a post elsewhere and couldnt get any answers, from my research the Growlab is just the next gen after homebox and everest gardening merged. When you say you have a/c you mean for the room itself is air conditioned or an a dedicated a/c unit for the box on an intake (if so which model by the way)

I have the same Lighting system but instead of the can 33 filter and ajoining fan setup i have the can-9000 along with the can-fan 4" HO. Ive found a water proof drop cloth for the bottom of the box perfect for over flow and easy to clean just pull the pots out and clean it as needed, i like to pull them to mist them good anyways.

Sorry no pics, digital camera was stolen will have one soon i feel like were at the same stage with nearly same equipment. Im going with 3 CH9 mendocino and 3 CH9 Double XX. Have 6 of each started in another veg chamber, i normally do outdoor but bad weather has gotten me scared and turning to this chamber as a backup but has turned into an obsession.

Well what i wanted to do was bump them up into the 6 inch pots, give em 2-4 weeks, sex, then maybe an additional week to the jump to the 3 gal's...

But i mixed some Floranova GROW with a gallon of water and will just feed that to the left over Mazar that's still in the styrofoam cup..that way it will still be fed, and can grow without needing a new pot (if its a female, it'll just go straight to the 3gal)

i was damn surprised they were RB that quick though, they were probably RB within 1 week - 12 days.

I have an a/c in the room where the homebox is...but when i do reassemble it at some point, i will have to consider how the ventilation is setup

its crzy though, just rubbing the leaves and smelling them brings about that DANK ass spicy weed smell! i love it..lol

Day 16:

picture.php

they look decent for someone who's never grown anything, any plant, ever. lol.. i tried mushrooms, but i kinda bleh'd on it. too complicated compared to this!

i was wondering why they werent "branching off" in a sense, but i hear thats because CMH produces much tighter nodes compared to MH/CFLs

Looking good!

I was thinking of trying mushrooms because I saw a Youtube video that made it look easy - and the spores and equipment are cheap. I think I would just need to buy a pressure cooker which I want anyway for canning.

Most cannabis plants don't really throw branches until they get to be pretty old, flower, or you bend them over. The blue spectrum lights should produce tighter nodes and thicker stems though.

I grew shrooms when i was like 19, its pretty easy.. and you dont really need a preasure cooker.. i just boiled the jars

K

KMK0420

i went the same way, using canning jars/substrate...wayyy too much time and energy. you need to sterilize, inoculate, and keep warm for weeks. then, they grow...and not that much. i had like 6 cakes got like an 1/8th.

the good methods to produce are when people use the trays and go that route using poop. no thanks!

shroomery.org gives you all the info you need, but they lose 90% of their weight when dried...so be prepared! lol

Yah that was the site i used, I remember being pissed off those cause the site i ordered from.. the hawks eye i believe, said they were going to send my live spores in a unmarked package... I get it.. the lil customs slip says live mushroom spores on it! lol

Man i got a cooltube today, Im running my 400 watt right now... so far its like 1 degree above the room temp... not to shabby.. Im gonna have to buy a gasket or something tho I dont like how i got it set up atm... i got the air in line coming from the bottom intake... how did you do it? cut a whole in the top of your tent? they got a gasket on homebox.net that would be perfect.. oh dude have you seen the new homebox tents? Bastards are putting silver on the insides now, as well the have a whole new series Growlab... the big one is like $900 bucks! thats a lil pricey for my blood for a tent lol

there was a reputable site (not the hawks eye) on shroomery.org where i had no trouble ordering mine. dont know the URL nor if it's even around. its not spore bank, or spores 101...

oh well...not in that hobby anymore...not to mention i hate the fact my stomach gets all twisted on hallucinogens..though i had an amazing second trip and for some reason, i listened to Rush - Limelight and the song was AMAZING, and every time i hear it it brings back memories of the trip lol

But my babies are on their 4th node, growing taller by the day... i guess this IS the veg stage? lol... we're coming up on 3 weeks from seed. It takes forever, but in the grand scheme of things, not long at all.. I'll get a new pic up this weekend!
