grandsrin: Seedsman used to have same stock as African seeds, but they have stopped selling them, however, if you order something from seedman and ask for some Africans, he might add pack for your order, just email him!

Hmm, interesting pic of Franco in S Africa, when I saw that my first question was 'why the hell is he messing around selfing old cuts like the Lemon Skunk and Trainwreck when he has access to new, fresh genes?' I realise working with new gneetics to make new lines takes a lot of time and effort, and spraying production cuts with chemiocals to make sefed seeds is much easier and less time consuming, but one will further the genepool and the genetic diversity of our beloved herb, the other is damaging to the genepool, for anyone who truly loves cannabis, there would be no choice, the path to take would be clear. I'm not having a go at Franco, just I don't understand why GHS releases are simply selfed old cuts and we arren't seeign anything fresh and new.
Jahwi's Joy, 154 days, finally starting to produce buds, I have fought this wild bitch every day for months to stop her growing through the roof, the wildest plant I've grown by far.
She's bearing a lot of seeds courtesy of my Purple Afghan male, I overdid the pollination, but no matter, just means I'll be able to share with more people!
There might not be any unique and fresh African hybrids from GHS, but there are in my wardrobe!

hi buddy, we don't just release anything. we test everything before it is released, and sometimes the tests lead to long delays in production of the seeds. It's not true that we just self everything.....franco and arjan are busy working on new strains, but you won't see those strains on the shelves for another year. just wait and see before you make a conclusion.

is DP PowerPlant 80% sativa?
I find it weak and not an energizing high...
Still nice but...
Maybe it's because i kept her 5 days more than what i should have.... or maybe because she hermied (i didn't see any male flowers, but i have just one plant, and i don't think pollen came from the neighborhood) and the seeds stole power to the thc... well i dunno...
My next try will be SeedsMan Power Africa... anyone has any info on this strain?

Hi Jack, man, I'm really not having a go, it's just that I remember Franco telling me all about some of the really good sativa genes he'd discovered, I remember he told me about some very old Transkei genes that were superb and very different to the Durbans and Swazis we are used to. That was 18 months ago and I'm itching to try some African sativas as they are one of my particular passions - I adore dark, earthy, exotic flavours like the aniseed and licourice of Durban and Swazi so franco telling me he was working with special ones has had me eagerly awaiting them. I've got a lil bit of a downer on selfing things at the moment, nothing against GHS, just I'm worried that the current trend for feminised seeds could turn out to be a bad thing in the long term, and to me, the injection of fresh new blood is a much better thing.
As for Power Plant, it's supposed to be derived from Durban Poison, whether it is 100% Durban just worked and linebred or a hybrid of Durban and something else, I don't know. PP can be very good, but it's nothing special in terms of it's high and taste - it;s a very strong all-rounder with good yield, good resin, good potency, decent (but not special) high, so it's one of the standard commercial staples grown around the place and coffeeshops often sell PowerPlant under other names when they have run out of those strains.
Herbalistic can tell you more about PP, he has a nice version he grows.

Yes DP PowerPlant is not that strong, but an ok high.
I don't think it's because you flowered for an extra 5 days - it's just the way she is.
And seeded bud is actually more potent than unseeded, FYI

Yes, BB is right, 5 days will make little to no difference, the chemical composition in the plant will not alter much in that time.
He is also correct about seeded plants being more potent, that's an ironic foible of cannabis.

According to my experience the quality of the stone is sometimes more dependant on other factors than plant type - mood, energy-level, type of activity, social environment and such.gramsci.antonio said:

I've got another friend working on a Colombian Black preservation and another doing Vietnamese black, 2008 is becoming the year of sativa for many it seems! lol

i'm growing bushman's, a souh african sativa at the moment. i got a female plant that grows almost like an indica, short and stout. a trait i've seen in all south african types i've had the pleasure of growing.
the main origin of cannabis in s.a is no doubt india. i get the feeling that it was the northern indian stock that was more at home in the south african climate. ofcourse the diversity of strains in that area is huge and lines between indica and sativa have blurred for millenias.
bambata or bushman's surely don't share the structure and flowering time of indian haze for example. instead of stringy little buds and an astronomical flowering time these can get real chunky in 10 weeks. if i remember correctly i saw a picture of ace seeds leshoto, and she was huge!
