African growers.. Please check in!

Ain't heard of any of that stuff, but the congo black sounds crazy. For some reason is reminds me of hash that I bought in Switzerland and the UK called gold seal, we used to call it squidgy black cause it was so soft. We used to roll it between 2 cds and make a sausage and then put that into a spliff.

Random huh? Gold Sambuca will do that to ya... where's my swaz?.....mmm there it is...

Anyone in Jozi tonight check out the mother of lighting storm going on outside right now?

Yeah, I was driving when the rain hit bedfordview.
Loads of arseholes... While I was visiting friends, their area got two hailstorms and a hell of a lot of rain.

Anyway, I came here to talk about the gold seal bust in pinetown, and here you are mentioning †he very stuff...
6 Million rands worth of afghani black/gold seal bound for the US p[icked up in pinetown en route from pakistan.

Fuckers. It looked beautiful.
Time to go and look see what is around and about.

HOWZIT GUYS!

Saw this post so i had to check in, lived in joburg all my life am now living in Europe (sorry for not being too specific on country im just starting my first grow and am a litte para!) Anyway finally got the balls to buy myself some DP, Swazi and other goodies! I havent had any Afican stuff for years so you can imagine how excited i am. I couldnt take it anymore because you cant really get any decent stuff around here except some skunk and that costs an arm and a leg! I really miss the good ol' Malawi, Swazi & DP :joint:

Question:I remember smoking Swazi in SA which had a pepper taste which was very distinct reading on the internet I see everyone saying it has a liquorices taste… am I missing something or have I forgotten the taste?

Anyway guys I hope you will give me some pointers in the very near future as my babies are in their second week

Cheers!

Zolkop,

Outdoors I don't think the humidity is too harsh in Maputo. At least not as bad as up north to Beira and above. But heeding your advice I will get a humidity meter and if the levels are too high I'll invest in a dehumidifier.

I do have a concern about the heat. It never drops below 25C during summertime, and in the direct sun it basically boils water. I have read that temps of 20-25C is ideal and temps over 30C may stunt the growth of plants. Especially root temp. Any ideas?

Hey Getafix

What is your grow setup like? I've got a small rubbermaid cab that I had to open up during summer here in Jozi to get enough cooler air in. I also have my lights on at night time and off during the day for flower. For veg you could have your lights on 18/6 with the 'off' time between say 10am and 4pm, this should help to keep temps down during peak heat periods.

Got a query here regarding PH adjustment. I was looking for PH test kits the other day and was supprised to come across PH Up & PH Down hanging on the shelves at Pick n Pay and Builder's Warehouse. Now these are made by HTH (for any non-SA'ers, HTH make pool chemicals - which I'm sure many of us have made the 'milk bomb' with) and are supposed to adjust the PH of your pool water either up or down.

Has anyone else seen these, and more importantly would this stuff work for our type of thang?

Peace out

BA

hey Blunt!

i'm sure that'd work. however, you should rather go to the hydro shop and buy the pH up and down there. i got me a GH pH kit and a vile of pH down for less then 40 bucks. cheap stuff :D

do you know what the local JHB hydro shop is called? will find out ASAP.

peace! :D

if you can't resolve this problem, then just make sure your ventilation is on 24/7.

those temps (20 - 25'C) are ideal for indoor cannabis cultivation.

i also grow outdoor under the blazing sun - CPT sometimes has days over 35'C in summer. it does get hot. but remember, there is a LOT more air to heat up and almost always a slight breeze in the air. this 'cools' the plants, or makes the heat more bearable.

take care! :D

Nice one HOTC

Check your PM.

Hydro store in JHB? I do not know if there is one up here. I only know of Windell (www.windell.co.za) and of Hydroponics Concepts (www.freedomtogrow.co.za). I've done a search but can't find anything.

Any Jozi guys/girls out there that can help me with finding a hydro store up here?

I don't mind ordering from CT or KZN but I do like to go in and look and touch...

I know there is a hydro store in Melville. Not sure of the name, but I'm going there in June and I'm sure to check it out. Charles from Windell is at the GardenEx in JHB this weekend looking to start a branch in JHB...

I just found it

"The Green House (29a, 4th Avenue – next to Cool Runnings) is your one-stop funkadelic requirement shop. This is an interesting little shop that sells anything from wicked psy CD’s, to Hydroponic Systems, growing nutrients, ethnobotanicals, rare cacti, books, crystals, organic, herbs & spices, etc."

Gonna have to go and check it out.

Anyone been there? I can't find a website for it yet.

Nice one.

Got another query for Jozi folk. Where can I get decent soil? All I see around is Culterra but it all seems to have a bit too much bark floating around in it.

Any help would be appreciated..

l8rz

Can't seem to find it bro. I've been to a few and they just look at me funny when I ask for Miracle Grow. The normal answer is "eish! only culterra!", and even when I ask for one without wood they always try to sell me one that has wood!!
