Finally tested this. Yes, it is quite a bit quieter than standard fan. Pricey, but I would recommend. I'd hang it, but that won't work in this room. :)

I use the 10" mode,l they work well, may get another for push-pull setup when i upgrade to mini this summer.

Wow, what a dream setup... you've got some huge, healthy plants on the horizon. 21 pages without a seedling and those last pics are worth it! I've been coveting the Greenbeams meself after the comparison that EZ Rider did (which was hugely helpful, ty, EZ). Seems like top technology. I wanted to put two in a 5x5 tent, and my hydro guy said the heat would be hard to manage, which surprised me (for me, the price is the hardest part, heh). He actually recommended a Sun Systems or Nanolux 630. You all are actually running the lamps, what are your opinions?

Thanks deepwaterdude!

The heat is 700 BTUs per light. Shouldn't be difficult to deal with. I'd go with at least 3 GBs in your 5 x 5. Get some Orca or buy an SJ with Orca already in it.

Here's a pic of the seedlings finally starting!

Good for you:jump: How close are you coming to modeled ppfd?

I'm still off by 12%. Good thing I went "over the top" with lighting after all. As it stands now, I'll just be able to deliver 50 moles/day @ 18 hours and less than that at flower. I'm not real happy about that as discovering the limits of cannabis DLI was my goal. As you pointed out, the model makes assumptions that are quite removed from reality.

I don't think that it will matter in terms of quality, yield, etc..., but I won't be able to answer that basic question that I set out to answer. For anyone using the models by Cycloptics (actually an independent third party, LTI Optics), they will need to take our performance into account. I'll follow up with Flip and let him know where the measured PPFD landed. I don't think they are trying to be dishonest, but they should adjust the models accordingly to factor in real world conditions.

Thanks, Timmur... 3!? It looks to me as if a lot of the dudes who sell this stuff have no idea what happens in reality with their gear.

The Secret Jardin'll be here in a couple of days, got that covered. I figure about 4mos to be able to fill it with Cmh.

Congrats on the babies, dwd

I know multiple people that work in hydro stores.... Some know a bit because of the customers giving feedback, but don't expect them to have a ton of real experience... They have a day job... Easier to research yourself IMO and make educated decisions.

They need to come up with a reasonable correction factor for the effects of plants and equipment without a doubt. Even if you're able to mount ALL the equipment besides the luminaires remotely, you'll still be "stuck" with the plants. The model is based on light reflecting from every angle(walls/floor/ceiling). A plant canopy will(should) block almost all light from the floor. This eliminates a significant amount of the reflective surface the model is "counting" on. I'd be willing to bet that you'll get noticeably higher readings with a cleared/painted floor, and nothing except paint/orca on the walls. For the "hobby market" cycloptics really should clearly state that the modeled #'s are unachievable by most growers. He's selling primarily to researchers who probably already realize this going in. Like you, I was initially let-down, and annoyed by the disparities.

Yeah, 3. Hopefully it's the SJ, orca tent?

Most stores tend to have their own pet brands/products, and the staff will have little to no experience with anything else. Another problem: Lots of them grow, and don't want to help/create any "competition".

Did you get the 4 x 4 Orca or the 4 x 8? I'd say 3 in a 4 x 4 if you go with Greenbeams.

Thanks Bmac1! It's pretty clean, but not as clean as I wanted it. Can't wait for the monsters (I think)!
