I like your mold, whiterasta!
I'm sure those do make excellent gifts.

Hey whiterasta!I make these for special occasions and gifts for heady friends and family.
1. I know your method of butane extraction has evolved and soak time increased dramatically. What in your opinion is currently the best soak duration for your butane extractions (assuming fresh frozen material) for buds vs. trim using the thermos method?
2. I see in the past you had good results rehydrating the weed before butane extraction. Do you still recommend this method vs. using dry material?
3. Initially in the thread you did 3 extractions. Butane soak--ethanol wash--butane direct flow. Are you still using this method and multiple extractions off same material.
Here is a couple pics of the product I have been making for a long time. I have always worked with dewaxed extracts since making "honey oil" in the 70's. I make these for special occasions and gifts for heady friends and family. This round came out a shade darker than usual but it was a full nug run of of purple urkel and I notice purps give me a slightly extract (anthos) I hope you enjoy the pics

I have been saving my waxes and am excited by the properties I am finding in them. Cheers all!
Great thread here Jump...
so I've got everything i need to do this with including the stainless steel thermos, only im still a little confused about the method.
So I place some herb into the thermos and then place that and a can of butane into the freezer for about four hours or so........ then take everything outside and blast the butane into the now frozen thermos filled with herb then what exactly? this is where I kinda got lost.
I mean I understand how to winterize using ethanol (Everclear 190proof) only I dont understand how to use the thermos exactly
I already have a couple of SSTB from BB&B on hand and was thinking of just blasting straight into the SS Thermos.....would this way work?
thanks in advance guys...

Right ON GW!!!!
You are Too awesome... your like Gandolf the Gray Wolf when it comes to this you wizard you
OK so let me get this straight.....
1) So do you just drill two holes into the cap of the thermos???
one hole for the butane tip and the other one for air to pass through the thermos so it doesn't get to pressurized and blow up??
just makin sure i got it right so i don't blow MYSELF up. lol
2) throw your herb in thermos (How much herb do you usually place in it and how much butane? 1 oz per can still?)
3) screw on the lid and blast butane into it.
(Then Allow it to sit like this for how long before straining????)
(Do you freeze the strainer as well to allow the butane to 'pass' through it?
4) so then after you filter it into a collection dish and allow the butane to evaporate thats when I add Ethanol, mix, and place in freezer right?
Oh and btw, Thats the exact same thermos I have or pretty darn similar. lol.
mine is made by Nissan.
so do you use the inside screw on plastic cap for anything or should that just be discarded?
thanks again GW and posse
Hope ya dont mind if i jump in with a few additional q's.
When straining, how fine is the mesh? Im about to soak some kif, and was thinking i would have to strain first and the coffeefilter the liquid tane, to make sure no contaminants in the form of undissolved kif or dirt ends up in the oil. Also how dangerous do you consider the straining proces when using a metal strainer combined with the metal thermos?
Stay Safe
So what your saying is that you took out the plastic inner piece of the cup/lid that actually "screwed" onto the thermos itself? And was this done so that plastic wouldn't leach into the product? great idea!
So now the lid just sits on top of the thermos w/o actually screwing on?
sorry, just trying to understand a little better.
Also, in your post to GDK above, are you saying here that you strain through a coffee filter that is sitting in your French Chinoise strainer? or do you filter twice?
In the pic above it doesn't look like you have a coffee filter inside the French Chamoise thats why I asked.
