Since I am a micro grower, I am not able to veg mine for very long. I work on this LST for about 2 weeks into flower, during their stretch they seem to respond very well.

If you'll look back, you can see they havne't been making new branches, the ones that were already there are being stretched out to make best use of the light getting to the buds. The changes that I am referring to are in the size of the buds in a few days time.

Sure you can my dear. Top em at the 4th-5th node then start training. Once you switch to flower untie it. If you are worried about height and stretch here is a simple solution. Give the girls some whiskey. a shot in 2 gallons of water is just fine. it stops all vertical growth. Old coutryboy trick. That way you cn veg and train to your hearts content. I like em short and bushy. I dont have a plant that is over 4 ft tall once finished and i have some stretchy sativas going on. Using whiskey will helpo since you have the luxury of knowing no stretch will happen you can veg like crazy. Hope that helps my dear. I only want the best for you, and you know that

I do realize that but......

If you will go to the first post where I started this thread is was to show my micro grow friends how to LST. Close up shots showing how to.
I also mentioned that I top them at the 4th node always, other than this last grow, mine have been bushes.

I hadn't intended on it becoming a debate on LST, scrog or anything else. We all do things differently and from reading these forums, many people do debate on what is the best method. I just finished a grow not pruning or LST or anything, so I am not totally dependent on any one style of growing.

But as always, thanks for the input.

Wow whiskey. That's a new one for me for sure. I have a haze that might just get her shot of moonshine.
I love LST also and only recently have begun doing it on most my plants. I'm like mR. N tho, I don't really train in flower except for pushing a few under the scrog net in the first week or so of 12/12

though i love a good debate, i will not debate with you! if you are happy that is my main concern. i was just trying to give you a tip or two to help get plants a bit bigger and yield more without stretch. Stretch is a killer to micro growers i am sure, so i hope my tips help. Give it a shot next time my dear. I think you'll be pleased with my advice.

Good luck, but dont get crazy with it. dont pour a bottle of wild turkey into the dirt! A shot diluted in a gallon or two of water does the trick. I ma sure i twould help a haze plant. I dont even bother growing those fuckers! Though i love haze i am too impatient , most of my strains take over 70 days so andother 20 or more days would drive me crazy

i think i topped it at about the 4th node. then i use cut bent oved clothes hangers as stakes to keep em down

very good thread, i was pondering beginning LST'ing last nite. How long would one wait after FIM'ing to begin LST? can i go right into it or is it too much stress on the lil plants?

I don't think LST causes a lot of stress. Start very gently and as they stretch, continue to train them. You may not want to pull the branch completely over on the first day, just slightly bend it, then each day check the progress and continue to stretch and gently pull.

It should be fine to start at any time now.

Not really showing the LST here but a closeup of the buds on the plant that I have been using for this thread.
New Buds forming.......shining with life and the promise of the buzz yet to come.

Nice LSTs, all! I've LSTed with twist ties for a couple of years. Yes, it takes time, but it's really enjoyable time. If you have pots with turned over rims, you can simply drill holes for the twist ties around the rim. (Don't drill into the side or your water is going to spill out). I drill tons of holes so that I can always re-locate a twist tie (and hence a branch) to its optimal location.

LST is Low Stress Training, right? So at the same time I, personally, refrain from topping or taking off the undergrowth. Natural and happy.
