It's been a long time since I've visited the ol' Bud Shack, but that doesn't mean I haven't been here in spirit. After all the drama from earlier this year, I felt it best to just retire my online activities for awhile. I want to thank all of you for your kind words, while it was a personally painful situation... it was a valuable lesson as well.
Speaking of lessons, I recently had the opportunity to try something I've always wanted to do... a horizontal grow. Nothing fancy of course, just a simple pull down during the stretch period. No screens, just a few bamboo stakes and cable ties for support. The results were impressive, with a larger yield of more massive colas with fewer plants.
Christmas has come early to the Bud Shack in the form of a Christmas harvest of Rezdog's Wonder Diesel. I received a pack of seeds from ICMAG for some contest Rez sponsored, and figured it would make a great smoke supply for the New Year. I got 4 viable females from the pack, with 3 separate phenotypes. During the first week of flowering I noticed the plants were going to outgrow the room, so I gently bent the main stem down using a cable tie and bamboo stake. The lower branches immediately began growing and eventually became a large cola rivaling the main top. Take a look for yourself:

Hey Gang... thanks for stopping by! Sorry about the dust, I know I let things go for awhile, but we'll soon have the Bud Shack spruced up. Now that I can suddenly post pics again... let's kick things off with a pic from my latest harvest of Rez's Wonder Diesel:
Just in case you were wondering... yes, she does smell as good as she looks!
As I had mentioned before, this current harvest was a horizontal grow comprised of 4 Wonder Diesel gals. The ladies were not trained during veg, but were bent during the first week of flower mode as they would have stretched past the lights. The bottom branches quickly grew to rival the main top, as you can see from the pic below:
Those of you familiar with my style may recall I like to keep things simple, I'm just a simple old dirt farmer who believes that big pots make for big buds. Here's the yield generated using a horizontal grow method under a 1K (4 plants total, one per pot):
The buds were nice and thick, and very sticky... with a waxy resin. The 3 different phenotypes ranged from a very fragrant low leaf variety to a very leafy version with little smell. The buds from all 3 phenos were quite large, as this pic may show:

It's a quiet Christmas Day here at the Bud Shack. The turkey is in the oven, and the buds are on the line, it's an interesting aroma... turkey a la bud! I hope all of you are enjoying your holiday, it's certainly nice to be back in the ol' Bud Shack sharing the holiday cheer with good friends.
My apologies to those that have sent me a PM, unfortunately since I restarted my account my posts are too low to read them... or send any. So it may be a little while before I can reply. Before we get to some pics, let me reply to some recent folks that have dropped by:
Wally - MATE!!!! So good to see you my friend, it's been a long while indeed... we do have a lot to catch up on. I see you've been to Thailand again... sure wish we had made our trip over there! Give me some time and I'll be able to PM you!
Sleepy - Good to see you again... glad you like the pic. I think I have a few more laying around somewhere
ethereal - The Wonder Diesel was a very good yielder, especially in the horizontal grow. All phenos produced some nice sized buds, longer than my arm and about as thick around as a leg. Here's a peek at about 3 weeks before harvest:
None of them produce a strong diesel smell, more like a fruity banana. As for the smoke, I have no idea. But I do have a bit dry enough to try out in a little while!

I love this time of year... there's just something magical about a holiday harvest. Combine the joyous holiday feeling with a fresh stash of buds and gee whiz... it don't get much better! Buds on the line, buds in the bags, buds still on the vine... simply divine!
The first phase of harvest is now completed, with the initial top layer of colas ready to come off of the drying line and into the paper bags for a few days sweat before the curing jars. In the meantime, the second layer of buds have been soaking in the (now increased) light in the flower room, and are fattening up for the final round. I should also mention I have two White Rhinos almost ready (compliments of my old pal weeweeman) along with one of my own Big Cindy's. I do like a little variety...
Here's a few shots of the Wonder Diesel straight from the drying line:
Looks tasty... I'm about to find out soon enough! Before I do, a quick shout out to caligreen, stretchpup, and wallyduck... thanks for stopping by! And Wally... I'm working on the posts, almost half way there. It's hell being a noob again!!!
