Hello hd28 & skeezo... thanks for stopping by the Bud Shack, glad you're having a good time, I know I am!
Well, the last of the buds have been trimmed from their stalks and are now on the way to their next home for a few days, some plain paper bags. From there they will move to their final resting place, Mason jars where they will sit and cure as the newest additions to Abby's Bud Cellar. Looks like it is time to clean the scissors and smoke a little "scissor hash".
Here's a few pictures from the last of the Sour Gum to go into bags:
The clones have been moved into the flower room to veg for a little while before making the switch to 12/12. I am contemplating topping some of them, but haven't actually decided what to do at this point. I'm just happy that most of the hard work of harvest is done, it's all gravy from here.
Impressive work Abby, I see you got your timing down and are pumping them out. Clone grows are fun, you know exactely what your getting and you can also dial them in. That's what I'v been doing the last year but new genitics are hitting the garden(that's also exciting). Thanks for the fine show.
Hey Gang!
I'm passing out cigars as the Bud Shack celebrates the birth of Grow #9! I placed 5 seeds each into wet paper towels for a total of 25 seeds in germination. 24 out of the 25 seeds were planted, with 21 having broken surface at this point. As a reminder, this is what we have going on in Grow 9:
Wally Duck Seeds
c99 x blueberry
Pine Orange
H3ad Seeds
G13 Diesel (G13 x ECSD v3)
Head's Deez (G13xNYCD x ECSD v3)
BOG Seeds
SB 3BX
The clones are enjoying their new pots, and I anticpate making the light switch around December 14, which should hopefully give them plenty of time to root the new containers. Here's a little peek at some of the clones in the flower room during repotting:
b_is_me - Thanks for stopping by!
SmokeyPufmaster - Hey Smokey! I agree, clones can be lots of fun, you always know exactly what you are going to get. I wound up with ALOT of clones from the last grow using my version of the bubble cloner, but I will only be keeping back a few as I just don't have the veg space for clones and new grows. I guess I need a bigger house!
dRbreiT0r - Thanks, and congrats on your nice plants as well!
Now, I just need to find something around here to smoke.... How about this?
Organic Hydro - Thanks for stopping by! Clones are almost ready for the light switch, just a few more days left before 12/12 begins. Here's a quick pic of the clones in veg:
Grow 8 has officially begun here at the Bud Shack, and today marks the 4th day of flower mode for the 15 clones from the previous Grow 7. To be honest, only a few are marked due to my sloppy record keeping, so until they bud out I don't actually know exactly which is which... but we do have some Big Cindy, Monster Bubble, Lifesaver x Sour Bubble, BMR and Ice99 for sure.
Grow 9 is coming along very well, despite my having an entire flat of 8 containers fall over onto the floor... cheap ass plastic trays! I was able to replant all, and despite having been crushed and buried, they have all survived and are doing great. The seedlings are now on their 13th day of being above ground, and are really starting to take off, with the SB3 being the largest so far. They are surrounded by yet more clones from Grow 7... so many plants, so little space!
Today I received a very special package, a brand spanking new Nikon D200 camera! I had pre-ordered the camera in November, and am one of the very first consumers to have the camera in hand. While I won't do an in-depth review here, I would like to say that this camera is a quantum leap over the D100 that I had been using in speed, robustness, and quality of image. In continuos mode it can shoot over 5 frames per second, I rolled off 22 straight NEF shots before the camera slowed. Just phenomal!
Image quality is superb, with the autofocus extremely responsive using my 24-70 2.8 lens. Being 10.2 megapixels, this camera allows you more creative freedom in cropping, as the pictures below will show:
Both of these are the same image, I simply cropped the image in the second photo. I could have gone much closer, the detail is still very sharp. Also, keep in mind that I have to resize all of the images here, and to reduce file size I take image quality down to 50%. The actual images are just tack sharp, take a look at the brush strokes in this painting:
I'm going to be doing some dry budshots with the 60mm 2.8 macro later, can't wait to see what this camera can do. I also purchased a new Nikon SB-800 Speedlight, which I used for the tiger painting picture above. This new flash setup uses Nikon's i-TTL technology which is much more advanced than the older d-TTL technology found in the D100. Here's an example of using the flash with a diffuser on a dark subject:
I haven't had much time to explore everything this camera has to offer, but rest assured... I soon will!
This is the first picture I took with the new camera, a shot of the Grow 8 clones under the HPS. The camera was able to do a good job of automatically adjusting the light to compensate, giving the picture a warm rosy tone. It is now Day 5 of flower, and I can see the buds starting to form already. Not much stretch at this point, hopefully they won't get quite as tall as their parents.
The newest seedlings that will form Grow 9 are doing superb, as you can see from the picture above. They are all under an 8 bulb T5 light, which I just can't speak more highly of... it is awesome! Look at the turgidity in the Pine Orange on the left, the plants are now 2 weeks above ground. Here's a quick peek at H3AD Seeds G13 Diesel cross and Head's Deez:
Looking good aren't they?
By the way... just wanted to say, "Merry Christmas Everyone!"
abbys my kind of guy ...likes to get stuff before everyone else and knows what he wants .thats a long wait... nice pics cant wait till those babys are budded and u get to release some anger on that flash bulb... u should try it out on some drybuds... while u wait..
It's dinner time here at the Bud Shack as we test the new camera with a few quick shots of some dry buds from Grow 7. So here's the dessert...
Sour Bubble
Big Cindy
Monster Bubble
Just a few quick pics... I'll try more later when I have time.
kilacaLIbud - I can't wait either... hope you enjoy the dry buds shots!
GMT - Thanks!
Grat3fulH3ad - Your babies are looking very well, and are now the largest in the current grow, just passing the SB3's. I'll have some new pics soon!
ilcstoning - The D200 is certainly a great camera, if you have the money, I highly recommend it! As for the AK47xSSH I did indeed have one a while back, and while I had to harvest her a bit early, she yielded very well. Now I know this must sound strange, I never quite got around to smoking her. So, tonight I fired up some to try it out. It's a very heady and up high, and I am completely functional, yet have a very good head buzz. Good stuff, thanks for asking!
southernsmoker - A fun New Year indeed! Happy Holidays to All!
Here we are at Day 9 of Flower and Grow 8 is starting to form actual bud sites, as well as putting on the stretch. The clones have all filled out nicely, and even though I said I would not do it again... it's another 15 plant jungle in the Flower Room!
I'm surprised at how fast the plants are maturing, and given their current size I feel we may get a comparable harvest to the last grow. In case I did not mention, final numbers are in, for those of you who are interested in such things. I received just a shade over 5 pounds of dried and trimmed buds from 15 plants under two 1K HPS lights using Pure Blend Grow and Pure Blend Bloom with a little Superthrive at the start and transplants, and some Cha Ching at the end. I also used some of the Floralicious at the early stages of flowering. No CO2, no checking PH, nothing fancy at all... just soil and tap water and a little bit of love. The biggest single yielder was the Big Cindy, at 15.8 ounces, followed closely by the Lifesaver x Sour Bubble at a little over 14 ounces. I personally don't give a hoot nor holler about weight, it's just a fun hobby for me, but I should mention that I did seed several branches, so perhaps I may not get as much this round as last, as all of the Grow 8 girls will be kept virgin.
Let's take a peek at the Veg Room currently housing more of the Grow 7 clones I kept as Moms, and the 22 seedlings that will make up the next run. The seedlings have now been above ground just slightly over 2 weeks and are really doing quite well, despite my having an entire flat of 8 containers fall over. All of the seedlings had to be replanted, and the good news is I did not lose a single one. However, it did set them back a few days of growth, so the Head's Deez in particular are just a shade behind the others. Well, all but one who is actually the largest of the entire group!
That's a good look at H3ad's Seeds H3ad's Deez in the pic above, with some c99xblueberry from Wally Duck on the right. Looks like the Head's Deez will be indica dominant, while of course the c99xblueberry will be very sativa. Here's a good look at the c99xblueberry in the front, with Wally's Pine Orange in the back (I think he needs to rename it to "Outback Orange"):
The T5 light is just doing a great job, and the plants really love the light. As you can see they are all very even and have nice tight nodes, just they way I like them. This next pic is of BOG's SB3's, with Gratefulh3ad's G13 Diesel cross in the back:
Tonight I gave them their first feeding of Pure Blend Grow, and I expect them all to start taking off like bats out of hell. Here's a nice little overview of them all together:
Once again, BOG's SB3 are the 4 plants on the bottom right, to the left of them are 5 c99 x blueberry, and to the left of them are the H3ad's Deez. The lone plant in the back left corner is a revegging LSxSB clone, but to it's right are 3 Pine Orange, and to their right are the G13 Diesel cross. 22 seedlings out of 25 seeds, not bad at all. One SB3 and two Pine Orange seeds were bad, but all the others are strong and vigorous with no runts or bizarre characteristics observed!
Hello Sunny, Thanks for stopping by the Shack! A very Merry Christmas to you (and all of YOU as well), and I look forward to even more wonderful plants to share with you all in the next year!
It's Christmas Day, and the Bud Shack is celebrating with a nice steak under the neon glow of my Christmas tree. It's been a wonderful year of buds and brotherhood, and 2006 promises to be even better! So Happy Holidays my friends, here's just a few of the many wonderful presents I have grown this year:
The HighLander - Thanks for stopping by... and Happy Holidays to you as well!
